Any schools fall under this NCHSAA guideline?:
  • Schools must maintain seating for participants and spectators, with one-third (1/3) of the available seating reserved for the visiting team’s spectators.
The NCHSAA reserves the right to require host teams in the playoffs to find an adequate facility based on expected attendance or quality of venue (Handbook Rule 2.2.3 (d) (1-7). The NCHSAA Staff will work with the NC Basketball Coaches Association to identify potential neutral sites and make them available for use if it becomes necessary to move a Fourth Round or Regional contest from the home site of the higher-seeded team.

Patton's only win was against Brevard, but they've also played W. Caldwell, Hendo, Maiden, N-C and R-S. They've also faced 3A Freedom and 1A Draughn and Avery County, so they've played a tough schedule. I still think they are a year away. but their record isn't as bad as it would seem on first glance.

Reidsville down 28-25 at half but 27-12 run in third quarter turned it around for Rams ... finished it off with 28-19 fourth quarter edge for an 80-59 win over Lincolnton.
Neal finished with 28 and Harrison had 26.

Up next: Trinity at home Thursday .... According to Max Preps, Trinity 81, Newton Conover 55 ... so what I heard must have been a halftime score.

Another way to look at Thursday's West Regional matchups:

North Surry (26-1) vs. West Stokes (15-10)
Lincoln Charter (22-11) vs. Burns (14-12)
Hendersonville (24-3) vs. Shelby (18-7)
East Gaston (23-2) vs. High Point Andrews (18-9)

West Caldwell (25-2) vs. Community School of Davidson (18-9)

One thing that sticks out to me is Lincoln Charter has played 33 games and the next highest is 27.

How does a charter school, like Lincoln, get to play more games than a traditional public school?

NCHSAA rulebook says non-football playing schools get to play 6 more games as long as they are played before the regular start of basketball – essentially pre-season games.

I think....
LCS played 6 games before Nov. 17 (Non football schools)

They played 26 games from Nov 17- Feb 27
They played in a Christmas tournament and from how I interpret the rules is a tournament (even though you play multiple games only counts as 1 game on schedule). Someone can double check that...So that would give them 23 games.
Plus, you can play 1 endowment game.....
Also, 2 Conference Tournament games and 1 playoff game now...
So, even though they have played more games, seems like they used the rules to play a lot of games.
Anyways, that is the way I'm seeing it. Its not a "Charter" thing, its a public school rule for teams without football. Most "traditional" teams simply don't play that many games, but LCS has always played a tough non conference schedule and maximized their game count.
Anybody have something else, please share. Thanks

I agree, ton of games but seems like they will benefit from playing a tough non conference schedule. Their guard play is better than most teams and will present a challenge for most teams to contain. Burnett kid is quick and pushes tempo and Flowers kid can play.

I think you're spot on with your explanation of the 6 early games, the Christmas tournament games and conference tournament games.

North Surry won 79-71 over West Stokes back on Dec. 28. West Stokes has gone 11-4 since that game. Two of the losses were to Reidsville.
