Did east surry play well or is Salisbury not as good as their record shows?
Pretty impressive for Hendersonville to be back here considering the talent they lost from last year. 2,000 point scorer graduated and went on to USC Aiken and a kid who'd scored 1500 in 3 years transferred to Christ School (where he's the leading scorer of a team going for NCISAA title Saturday). Sign of a well run program.
Program has been in great hands with Featherstone at the helm. He won state as a player there back in the 80s. He does a good job. With the core coming back next year and the middle school group that I heard so much about, he could be loaded for a while.
Robinson continues its quest to repeat as State Champions by visiting the Rams in the "easy bracket" as a Robinson fan posted earlier.
😀😁🤣Same could be said for Lincoln Charter and Robinson. Both have won and been to state championship games, lose players, and still find a way. Great job to all.

Damn right is! One of the best basketball traditions in the State of North carolina is in Toast inside Ron King Gymnasium. Not a better atmosphere to play in anywhere.

However, if you are Lincoln Charter or Robinson who would you rather play? North Surry or Reidsville?
I know who I would choose in a quick minute...A senior-laden team with winning tradition chasing a title or a team led by 2 very talented freshmen?
I would say most would choose to play Reidsville, especially a senior-laden Robinson team that is defending state champs.
That is why I said "easier" path. May prove to be very wrong but that is why basketball is so great. Any given night can prove to be your night especially when Freshmen with nothing to lose gets hot..
No disrespect to any team. It is very difficult to advance come playoff time and I can see any team left in the West winning a state. Best of luck...

Yes very limited seating
There's a NCHSAA rule that says gyms have to have enough seating for the anticipated crowd in the state playoffs. Wonder if that will come into play?
They played 3rd and 4th round games there last year. Don’t see why they wouldn’t this year.
I thought the dimensions of the court was all the same! It is really simple. Play better during the season and you won't have to visit that middle school gym!
I have been in that gym many times and didn’t necessarily think it was a MS Gym. Seemed about normal for a 2A HS.
I agree nothing wrong with the gym. They play west Stokes every year and were in the same conference most years. Glad they named the gym after Ron King. He had some good teams and a good fellow.
Now the county did y’all wrong on a gym.
Those rules aren't enforced I watched hayesville win a football playoff game at a place that sit 20 people.
How many state titles has north surry won? Not being smart, I really don’t know
They were in the state championship in 2017 losing to Northside Jacksonville . Ron's son Kevin was coaching NS at the time. I went to that game and Northside could have possibly won 4a. They were loaded
They have 4 state championships same as Reidsville not sure the years. They used to be in 3a
Reidsville won in 1924 (Henry Miller MVP), 1973 (4A Melvin Watkins), 1994 (3A CC Harrison) and 2003 (2A - 11 players - couldn't tell first team from 2nd team - Jerome Simpson was the highlight reel on that team).
If Reidsville keeps their focus they have an opportunity to add another. They have been great to this point.
Have seen Hendo and East Gaston both play. Should be one heck of a game.
They won 2A in 63, 66, and 67 and 3A in 89. David Smith from the late 60s still tied for 2d in the record book for single game points with 65.
NS had a very good point guard on that team by the name of Mason Hawks, IIRC.
If you think that the NS gym is tiny, you oughta see some of the ones in Alamance County.
