Pisgah at Tuscola 2015

I was referring to some posters statements last season. "Wait till the jv's get up there","help is on the way" were some of the posts I remember from last year. Not necessarily your posts but others. I don't know that a strong jv program results in better play at the varsity level. You mentioned Erwin,Asheville and ACR jvs. When's the last time you heard them going undefeated or one loss seasons. ACR has a pretty strong program but Asheville and Erwin not so much in my opinion. Yet Asheville and Erwin have been doing pretty well the last few years. Even one of the Asheville posters said..we don't care about jvs.
The reason I say you sound like one of us Pisgah posters is because I've read so many posts on here from Pisgah posters saying more or less the same thing for years now.

Don't get me wrong. I think the kids running the same offense(to some extent) helps in the long run. I think these jv squads might be the ones where we finally see a difference.

Most of those JV's are now "there". Since they have equaled last year's varsity win total, I think it could be said that it was an accurate statement. I don't recall anyone declared them to be world beaters or the NE Patriots but improvement was certainly expected.

The McDowell loss was counted by most fans, players, and even the media as "win" before the game. That was a mistake. Fortunately, that will get tossed for playoff seeding. The North loss was disappointing but I think they have pretty much surprised everyone this season. It was certainly a winnable game. I think most folks who aren't true blue Yellow Dog fans of either Tuscola or Pisgah rated that game a toss-up.

A conference championship is not in the cards, probably, for either of us but winning out would sure help in the seeding process so neither team can afford a let down. Pisgah had their two game skid prior to us and now we have had ours. Maybe we'll rally tonight. Neither team should expect an easy time tonight from what I've seen.

I can think back to some huge JV teams at Pisgah that a year or two later, you're going "where did all those big 10th graders go?"

My hope for both our schools is that, as we grow and learn that we build a stable base for the programs based on internal discipline, hard work, and humbling ourselves as we improve. That's not to say an outward confidence would be wrong, it's nice to see the teams step into big games and not be shocked or overwhelmed and play with that controlled aggressiveness that commands respect. I always want both teams to excel, one because it means both teams are relevant outside of Haywood county, two it does more for the communities as we engage one another in commeradarie, and three, it just means more to beat the other when they're both playing at high levels. It's a nice feather in the cap to say you beat an undefeated or one loss Tuscola/Pisgah. This year is a prime example, both teams, similar in ability, record, experience, etc. and the game was great. Even if we had lost 23-20, those are the games you want to be a part of. Imagine if both teams walked in to that 7-0...

This may be a 'blue collar' town in the sense that we have a mill, but this isn't just a defensive oriented team. We have at least 6 or 7 players that we can put on the field that a defense has to account for. Instead of running %80 of our plays through one player, let's open it up & put some points on the board so we don't put our defense in a bind to continue to pull is through.
