It was good to host the game for the first time in years. It shouldn’t have been this close of a game but nerves, miscues, etc made for an “edge of your seat” finish.
Pisgah receivers missed two “wide open as you could get” passes that would have been TDs that should have had the game at 21-0 at half. However, between nerves and being so wide open you lose focus, it happens. Tuscola, on the other hand, came out a little too emotional and chippy and cost themselves in penalties early on and little throughout the game.
Solid defense by Pisgah most of the night and Tuscola’s kid that jumped the route for an interception made a great read on the ball and you knew it was a sure fire TD when it landed in his hands. Tuscola did a good job of keeping momentum from hanging with us after halftime.
All in all, the boys from Haywood County provided a good show last night on the river.
Now, I just hope Pisgah doesn’t get a conference rematch for the 1st round but it looks pretty likely. Coach Brindley may be “gifted” a second look at his old Mustangs and they seem to be playing good ball. We’ll see how it shakes out.
