Both experienced painful and unexpected losses Friday.....What can we expect This Week? Anyone care to comment?

Since neither team is playing that good.Could be a game to remember, close one point game.As usual the team that makes the least mistakes wins.

One thing you can expect: someone is going home with a lot of money. I'll be there, if for nothing else, to buy a lottery....err, I mean a 50/50 ticket.

So true!

This should be a competitive game.
I remember the good ole days back when this thread used to have 3 pages by now.

I think part of the reason is that neither one of us know what to expect from our team.Pisgah seems to play good at times but as I said before we played Franklin we have not beat one team with a winning record and that still stands.
As for Tuscola not seen them play but they certainly are not setting the world on fire. That being said I agree it should be a competitive game.Just depends on who wants it the most. The loser is probably out of the play-offs are will play a number one seed. The winner will have to get help from the loser to win the 3A top seed .
But hey it's Pisgah,Tuscola big crowd ,great atmosphere ,largest half and half in prep football in N.C.This is a game that a lot of folks in Haywood County look forward to and the only game a lot of them go too. Both of you guys should be there.

I don't care much about who wins as long as I win the 50/50 and see a good game! Even with no ties to either school, I love going to this game just for the atmosphere.

It has never been the final week. In the late 70's and 80's it was the last week of October around Halloween, which was thenext to last week of the regular season back then. When Pisgah dropped to 2A and joined the WAC, it was played around the 2nd or 3rd week of the season, which was way too early.

This game is so draining for everyone involved, physically and mentally, that I believe both HCs and Administrations have always believed it be best to not play this game too close to the playoffs. Win or lose it's too hard to get hyped back up on one week turn around.

I would like to offer congrats to the Pisgah refs, the "Up the River Refs" managed to pull Pisgah through in another tough fought game. Talk about blatant cheating, unreal. This game made the Swain game look clean.

Nothing happened but blue had to blame someone.Bears won in overtime 20-17.Stopped the Mounties twice at the one.

Not even man enough to admit the BS that your refs pulled? That is sad. Call PF, don't mark off the yardage, wave off two PF against Pisgah, Lord knows how many amazingly timely "motion" penalties were called against Tuscola, the uncalled PF/Roughing when you stop our QB, push him back for a good 4-5 seconds and then throw him to the ground, with no call... Talk about the zero holding calls on Pisgah, the amazing lack of illegal shifts/motion calls on Pisgah... or how your huge 3rd and a mile conversion happened with Pisgah huddling up with 12 men, breaking the huddle with 12 men, and the 12th man running like mad to get off the field as the ball was snapped... all without it being called.

I will say it again, blatantly cheated. BTW, he was in on that 3rd down, something else you would know if you were there... your fans were ready to file out till the refs signaled 4th down.

Blue don't get around the river crying ,after the rains last week it's full.I thought the ref did a good job and the penalties were about even.

Yes, that you can even say that is sad. I expect HS reffing to be bad, but this was blatant. I was at the game with two members of the Pisgah team that lost to Burns, ( Pisgah was the best team in the state that year ) and both of them laughed and said that was up the river reffing. Then again, they are honest. Try it sometime, you might like it.

Tuscola was in on the third down by two feet, Fat Albert was out of position. Heard there is a photo that shows that. There were 12 men in the huddle on 3rd down play for Pisgah, tape will show that. The officiating was borderline SMC level. That said, you can't turnover the ball at will, line has to man up and act like they want to win when it is for all the marbles. I have no complaints will Pursley going for the win. Way to man up. Truth is, both teams are mediocre which makes for a great ball game. Have any of you guys seen Reynolds this year? I have, and they would smoke both of us by 50 and they got rung up for 56 points by Shelby . What a great series with National attention, let's keep it real on here. We Tuscola fans can be ticked off, but we are much better off with our current situation. Truth is we have no athletes anymore. See link and drool. This team on the link would beat both of these teams tonight by 40. Congrats to the Bears, they manned up when they needed to. JMO.

That is awesome. I read often and rarely post. Fun to keep up with the back and forth. This rivalry goes back a loooong way. Congrats to the players who participated in another nail biter, they will remember it forever. Hats off to the community for the spirited support. Carry on!

If your referring to the 06 team u don't know them to well as they lost to Shelby high school and not Shelby-Burns big difference trust anybody that's played the Shelby Lions! Was the offciating great? Nope! Even? Pretty much big hold on the big run y'all have to set up the first TD. I've said it on Pisgah threads all year long when our fans complain about officiating you have to be able to overcome those type things! Good game by both teams hate some people wanna come take away from that just to come up with an excuse you got half a yard and it was who wanted it more! Plain and simple Bamatide your supposedly old school you can't dig a 4th and half a foot yours vs hours who wants it?

Neither team is gonna make a ton of noise this year but besides ACR nobody in WNC will either and I'm not sure if they have a state championship team. Good luck to Tuscola rest of the way

To the Pisgah players and coaches loved those new uniforms. You guys played a great game,
THREE_PEAT
I really enjoy the crying from the loser side.Makes winning even better.

Plain and simple tuscola had second and goal from the 3 yardline and couldn't punch it in.
UNC Blue, you wanna little cheese to go with that whine? Pisgah got shit ton more holding calls on them. The wide out #6 for tuscola kept jumping when y'alls motion man started.

Bottom line is Pursley didn't learn his lesson Thursday night! 3 in a row boys 3 in a row.

"Bottom line is Pursley didn't learn his lesson Thursday night! 3 in a row boys 3 in a row". I will have to agree with you on that statement bear! other than that it was a fun game to watch. good luck the rest of the way to you guys. there is always next year

And what "lesson" are you referring to? Would it be NOT to place winning and losing on the shoulders of ONE 14 year old player? Or, not going for the win when it is 3 yards away (or last night at less than ONE yard? HS isn't the National Field Goal League. In High School, you play to win. If a team cant make 1 yard in two attempts, maybe they should lose.

Didn't appear to me he got in on third down. I watched the replay and it's hard to tell. Week after week you can watch pro and college refs miss calls. Without instant replay, it's hard to make a split second decision. So whine all you want, scoreboard said we won. I could also make a case for the two holds and "push" penalty on the drive that would have put the game.

And Bama, really don't care about Reynolds and really care less about watching them play.

I think he was talking about the 94 team that lost to Burns after beating Shelby the week before.Marty Inman and Frank Leatherwood were on that team.I agree with him on the fact they should have won the state championship that years not Burns.Mistakes killed us with eight turnovers trailing 34-8 at half.Bears came back a lost 40-35.What was really interesting was that Tuscola and West Henderson both beat us that year.

WhoaMule..........was it you who suggested in your Mountaineer article that the mighty Tuscola offense would dominate the Pisgah D........You continue to show you are a football NOVICE every time you pick up a pen and write.............Why would you have a football beat writer that NEVER strapped a helmet on..........Take that 48 ppg offense
and choke on it!!!!!!! Pisgah 20 Tuscola 17 OT

This was a fun game to watch. The atmosphere was great as well.

Side note: If I'm not mistaken, that is the first win for Pisgah against a team with a winning record this year? And that is against a Tuscola team who hasn't beaten a team with a winning record this year. In fact, I did a little investigating and found that Tuscola has beaten 1 team with a winning record in the last 3 seasons. I believe Pisgah has at least 4. (Speaks to the weak conference as well). Not stirring the pot. I understand you must play who's in front of you. Just speaking on the state of football in Haywood County. I'm not a Bear or a Mountaineer but I bring that up only to say this: The world feels right when Pisgah/Tuscola are powers who are beating quality opponents. I live in Waynesville and I don't go to many games for either school because they rarely play a power team. I miss the old days! Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way. Would love to see both teams make at least a 2nd round appearance, or more!

I will stand by my post mule. it is my opinion. with each of your posts you continue to show us all which half of the mule you are!!

Now Tuscola fans will have to pull for the Bears next week against North and Pisgah fans will have to pull for Tuscola against West, in order to get a good seed in the play-offs.Both teams will have to win out and neither has an easy road.

For people that think Haywood county football is down, between the JV programs, the future is bright on both ends of the county, and last nights game looks to be the norm the next few years, with either one winning in a close fashion
