Made the trip to Wallace last night for the game. This will probably ruffle some feathers, but these are my observations from a coach's perspective and not a fan of either team. First the positives...The Piggly Wiggly has great fried chicken and just happened to stumble on that and the stadium is fantastic. Loved finding out some the history of the stadium and former coaches. As far as the game itself, was not impressed with either team. It was simply a boring game. Football should use the whole field and neither team showed any ability to stretch the field vertically or horizontally. It looked like old school rugby. The season is still young, but at this point you should be able to do something to change the pace. Both teams played between the tackles all night. Try to throw the ball on 1st or 2nd down just to get the D to loosen up. Pender never tried to pitch and they run option???Have to give the offensive play calling an F for last night. Offensive line play was weak on both sides. Both defenses looked decent, but it wasn't hard because all they had to do was pack the box for run. Special teams has to go to Wallace because Pender had none to speak of. Final notes...If these two teams have a chance to go to championships, then 2a and 1a in the east is weak. Bright side, the season is young and there is plenty of coaching to be done!
