Who do you have?

OG is on an upward trajectory, but I think North is still too strong.

QB play is going to be key. If North’s QB has a big night, it’s a 3 touchdown win for the Black Knights.

Should be a very neat atmosphere in Midway on Friday night. The first ever “big game” in that stadium.

OG is obviously improved, however, their opponents would “probably” make anyone in the CCC 2-0 after the first two weeks. ND has lost to two quality opponents so I say ND. Both have lots to prove, ND that they are still a top team and OG has to prove they can beat a top team.

Veeeeeeery excited for this game. Never been to OG on a Friday night before, looking forward to it.

OG has destroyed two terrible teams and North has lost to two good teams, at least it looks like, from higher classifications. I believe ND will be favored but should be much closer than last year. I think it will be a good game with a big crowd.

Time to see how improved OG truly is and if they will stake their claim to a run for the CCC title.

North D must improve every week.

North destroys OG. Don’t think OG will be much improved this year or the next few. Thomasville varsity , junior varsity, and middle school all blanked them last year so with those 3 squads continuing on the upswing then i see them (Thomasville) as being the new conference leader. Just saying

OG is solid, but until they get that big CCC win over THS, Salisbury, ND or LHS the jury is out. As for THS getting back to the top, could happen but the numbers need to go up back into the 30's-40's on both squads.

I'm not making a prediction on this one. Too much disparity in the opponents so far to tell. I do believe that the winner will be in the driver's seat for the conference.

I am predicting a win for Oak Grove in this one. If the "O" line for Oak Grove can take care of business up front, the RB from Oak Grove can give them fits. It sure would have been nice to see the RB from Oak Grove running the ball for my Golden Eagles though.

You guys treating OG like this is their 20th year of football. “Jury still out.” You guys sound silly. This is still a very very young program. Not even the seniors or coaches been in the program or system for 3-4 years. That’s a big difference. Look at their roster on Max Prep. A very young bunch. The score of last year game don’t do the actual game any justice. As far as this year, they might have played the worse schedule so far in the state. Not a very smart move by the coach. But just saying ND has played a “tough” schedule don’t make them good. I need you guys to tell me what they do that’s really good & consistent. I’ve watched ND & Ledford play, nothing special about any of them. ND passing game was terrible against Parkland, but their best option. Parkland dropped 3 picks. Defense defended the run well, but no pass coverage ability. Now Davie ran all over them. Ledford, against Randlman, defense was more sound then ND. But slower. Ledford offense is lost. But will control the clock. OG is suppose to have a strong run game and suspect passing. Defense is suppose to be solid. Friday game could get ugly in ND favor, but can’t assume off last year or the past! And in my book, OG still has nothing to prove. It usually take new schools years to even to finish .500. No pressure on OG for this game. All the pressure is on ND.

I’m going OG, just because it’s hard to pull for ND!

I would like to know the rationale behind scheduling Jordan Matthews and Trinity. By the way, the Trinity vs J-M game that will happen later this year will be a drinking game waiting to happen. There would be people stumbling out of that stadium. Fumbles, Incomplete Passes, Bad snaps, waiting on both of their announcers to say something weird, etc. etc.

Long story short, OG is completely untested. Neither opponent was good enough to be called a Varsity squad.

Friday will be different... and there won’t be time to adjust, even though I feel that OG has a superior coaching staff. I like the Calpreps prediction. 35-17. North.

The reasoning is simple Prep. Keep in mind it’s on year 2 as a program. So, you do it for confidence and wins towards playoff births!

Not sure I’d say superior coaching staff . ND has a very solid and deep staff . Flynn as HC , Tesh is a high energy DC, Gleiser has been there for a while, Honeycutt just came back from being the OC at Northern Guilford . And a lot more guys who have a ton of experience. I don’t think ND will lose because of coaching . Just My Opinion

Middle School Final.

Oak Grove 22
North Davidson 0

Let me be the first to make the statement that middle school winners don’t translate into high school winners. Middle School football is about school size and whose kids have hit a growth spurt. It’s neat to win in middle school, but many a middle school team turns into a middle of the road high school team when the talent isn’t developed.

I haven’t been to a middle school game in a while. I forget how different the sizes are from kid to kid. North’s running back couldn’t have weighed more than 80 lbs.

Not saying it happens at your school, but I see a lot of Daddy ball coaches in MS. Of course that that kid going to play regardless of size or ability. But you are also correct on growth spurt also.

Daddy ball... Ugh. It is a disease in little league for obvious reasons, creeps into middle school sometimes like you said, and on occasion even pervades high school ball.

Definitely one of the things I detest most.

I typically pull for North when not playing Thomasville. But I have noticed that there seem to be an awful lot of heavily invested dads in Arcadia.

Don't even get me started on that lol... I helped Arcadia my first year out of high school and found out, then again a couple of years ago to see if anything had changed. Nooooooope... Never again!

Arcadia wasn't just about daddy ball though. It was infested from the top to the bottom with parental interference. I don't know if combining Welcome and Arcadia changed anything, I live in East Bend now. But there was absolutely no such thing as discipline at any level when it was Arcadia.

There are reasons why Arcadia usually didn't have as much success as its population would suggest and it had absolutely nothing to do with talent, or lack thereof.

Thomasville Parks and Rec now plays in the county league for football and baseball. Until the county rec department completely takes over the program and gets the booster clubs out of it, it will always be a disaster. The boosters want complete authority and autonomy and for the county to provide the facilities and pay for everything.

I’ve never experienced it firsthand, as my kids never played football in the county... But I’ve heard plenty of stuff that matches up with what you’re talking about.

I don’t know anything about North Middle’s coaching staff. I know the head coach changed a year or two ago. As for Oak Grove, they could use another coach or two to handle the numbers... but the ones that are on staff seem to be pretty committed to playing the best and trying to develop the rest.

Someone keep us posted on the JV game tonight.

I went to the middle school game and will go to the varsity game tomorrow night. I’m not up for sitting in the heat tonight!

Oak Grove punts after 3 and out. Not very far, do they have a kicker or punter?

North fires another TD pass. 14-8 Black Knights.

North isn't even pretending to try and run the ball except with QB draw. 5 wides every play.
