Northside Jacksonville vs shelby ...... the truth !!!!!

I can't believe we have teams in the state championship games... And posters still complaining about how they "haven't played anyone good "....SOT is one thing in the regular season. If you blew through the playoffs and make it to the championship game you deserve it.

Exactly!!

Hey, let's get serious, 3 times defending champion Shelby is the favorite. Does that mean Northside can't win? No Streaks end at some time or another. Nothside's beaten 3 pretty good damn football teams (they are good despite some people's western bias) I for one thought Clinton had the tools to defeat Shelby this year (not 2014). Northside defeated them. All of Northside's wins have been on the road. If I was a betting man I'd go with Shelby, but if anyone thinks this is going to be a runaway, they need to get off the weed they've been smoking. Anyone down east will tell you in any year Northside is a tough team to play. Depending on the weather I may go to this game. Then again I may spend Saturday checking in on Times Warner on the internet to take in some of all the games. Good luck to all!

I don't smoke weed, but I do honestly think we will beat Northside by 3 touchdowns or more. Speaking of 2014, I told you then that we'd beat you guys by 21 points or more, you thought i was crazy, this year will be no different vs a different eastern opponent. Shelby will once again show that football in the west is on another level. Clinton was spared an ass whooping of epic proportions. One dimensional running teams don't stand a chance versus us. Believe that! Why you keep bringing up Clinton anyway? You guys checked out early and went fishing.

Both teams have played good schedules:
Northside's opponents are a combined 129-65
West Carteret - 7-5
White Oak - 1-9
Jacksonville - 10-5
Clinton - 13-1
Havelock - 13-2
Jones - 6-7
Dixon - 2-8
Croatan - 5-6
E. Duplin - 13-2
N. Brunswick - 7-5
SW Onslow - 7-6
Randleman - 8-4
Bunn - 11-2
Clinton - 13-1
E. Duplin - 13-2

Shelby's opponents are a combined 107-83
Freedom - 6-6
A.C. Reynolds - 11-3
South Point - 11-4
RS Central - 6-7
Chase - 4-7
Kings Mtn - 8-4
E. Burke - 2-9
E. Rutherford - 4-7
Burns - 10-3
Draughn - 2-9
Crest - 9-4
N. Surry - 5-7
Franklin - 7-6
Huss - 10-4
Monroe - 12-3

I hope you do remember the time in 2004 you played a team from Jacksonville and you all had all this confidence before you stepped on the field to play? There was no way the mighty Shelby Lions was going to get beat. SWO did what to you? So just stop with all that noise. Everyone knows that you have a great program and all and that you have won 3 years and what not. But the team that your playing is in the championship game for a reason. Contrary to what all of you have believed they have beaten teams who very well could beat your team in these playoffs. So for y'all to think that your going to just blow them out is crazy.

In '04 Shelby beat themselves. 3 turnovers on the first 3 possessions within our own 20 yard line by a Freshmen (or sophomore) QB puts you digging out of a 21-0 hole quick. And no it wasn't SWO instigating. The center/qb exchange has nothing to do with the other team.

Well at least we know Shelby has played a good schedule. As for the eastern teams, not necessarily so. These teams may be great, or very average with no known quantity to measure them by. Examples of this abound when it comes to eastern teams. A year ago we all heard that Havelock in 3A was so good they should be at the college level. So I watched that game with, (I believe) Crest, and they just weren't on the same level alright. They may not have even MADE the playoffs had they been in Crest's conference. Clinton, another regular in the 2AA division or 2A title game, got there sometimes without playing anybody outside of their own conference, even in the playoffs, all the way to the title game. One particular season comes to mind. When they got to the title game, just shouldn't have been there. On the other hand, once in a while the east DOES come up with a good team, that actually can compete with the big dogs. Clinton/Havelock included. Maybe this is the year, who knows? Moral of the story: We never know until they actually play a known entity to compare them with.

Shelby is not the best team regardless of classification. But they would beat anyone east of Raleigh yes.

Northside is battle tested. But not for Shelby. Just not happening.

No, Reidsville is right there with Shelby. No way 14 point favorite. The Reidsville defense is hard for anyone to score on and the Rams have a better passer.

No, Reidsville is right there with Shelby. No way 14 point favorite. Thought Reidsville was in a different classification....No matter, you are right. No way Shelby would be a 14 point favorite vs Reidsville. Make it about a 21 point favorite.

Shelby would be favored by about 7. I'd be surprised if the margin was more than that either way.

Who cares what they say. Reidsville is dang good and capable of beating Shelby period.

Why are we talking about Reidsville again?

I'll admit, I know very little about Northside Jax. I do know that they want to win a title. Hope we play our best game Saturday and get the fourth in a row.

Northside has the things that has given Shelby problems all year. One of the most balanced attacks in the east, along with a mobile quarterback. Northside's size and speed won't be as good as Shelby's but you guys have got to realize these boys come to play! They are embracing the underdog role and they're going to give Shelby a run in the ship!

I recall a Shelby poster saying you guys had trouble with a mobile quarterback from Huss? You can win without completely shutting down every faucet of the game right? Or has that changed..

Shelby could be the best (HS) football team in NC at any level. From Raleigh and all points east of that point they ARE the best team at any level.
so you really believe that Shelby could be better than ANY 4A team in the state? im not being sarcastic. im really asking your opinion on them, because if they are really that good, thats plain scary.

We had "trouble" (won by 15) with 1 good receiver from Huss. Crest was the only game that gave us actual trouble. And I think that's just because they were Crest.

Look at their record and who they have played over MANY years. I did not come to this conclusion just off the top of my head. What I DID say, is Shelby COULD be the best team in NC any classification, and from Raleigh east, they ARE the best team in any classification. Can ANY of you on this thread think of a NC (HS) team that you would be afraid to see Shelby line up against without a realistic chance to win, no matter who it is? especially in the last few years?

Shelby I am a SWO fan all day, so when I say you don't know when it will happen but you will lose the big game someday because you thought you were more talented than you really were.

Northside played and lost to Havelock are Shelby fans thinking they are better than Havelock..ummm I am sure they are on Havelock level and I am sure Northside has the ability to beat Havelock that is why I think Shelby is in for a fight.

So in response to teams over the last few years Shelby would have there hands full with that are east of Raliegh.

Havelock, New Bern, Hoggard, WRH,James Kenan. Greenville Rose. Prolly about 2 schools out of Fayetteville would give Shelby hell.

Shelby is really good and catching them on TWC vs S Pointe I know they can play with anybody, but these teams would give you hell, but I think your guys would give them hell also.

I'm a die hard Golden Lion, but I also live in Realville. If Shelby still had their star RB I would put us in the top 10 in any classification and would probably rank us around 9th or 10th. With the team we have now I would have them in the top 20 best teams. I foresee our game with NS being a 10 to 14 point game with Shelby favored. It's just hard to tell what will happen playing a late morning game. By the way is the team riding down Saturday?

They are leaving Saturday morning. Both times we lost we stayed overnight. Coach Ware has asked the parents to make sure they get their rest and be ready to roll at 0500.

He means any team 1A-4A EAST of Raleigh, because all the teams east of Raleigh seem not to be on the same level as teams west of Raleigh. Even Havelock hasn't made it back since they got mangled by Crest. They took L's to Morehead(Triad team) and Rocky Mount since. To be honest, I think Huss or Monroe could win the 3A/3AA east.

Shelby posters will get upset with me(as usual) and some like to pop off at the mouth(or fingers) about playing higher classifications, but when a Charlotte school calls them to schedule a game they usually react like this:

They will drive all the way into the mountains to play an easy game before they drive down the street to play any top 10 Meck County school. Any team east of Gastonia and west of Monroe they will avoid like the plague during the regular season.

Hmmmm....2014 Crest hold the almighty Havelock to 3 points in the 'ship game. That same year, Crest squeaks by Shelby 21-13. Only comparison I could find.

Yes...could compete with any 4A team. Last year Mallard Creek had a stellar team, by far the best in the state. Several of their fans stuck around and watched some of our game last year and said that after watching us, we would have definitely given them a game for at least a half, maybe 3 quarters. This year's Shelby defense is better than last year's. Outside of the Huss jumpballs, opposing teams are finding it very difficult to do anything against our defense. I believe our defense would keep us in any game and with a stud like Jayden Borders on your team, you are going to get a few scores.

I would love to see us play Page this year. Page looks like a small college team. That would be fun. I do believe we could have competed with and beat 5 out of 10 times this year's Butler and Mallard Creek.

LOL deflection. You are referring to those 5A South Carolina schools in your area who use that point system. NC doesn't have that point system. Monroe played Weddington AND barely lost to private school champion Charlotte Latin(before their QB was injured). If Latin called today I can predict the response :D
