NCPreps Fan Vote Top 5 in East & West - 2A (Week 7)

I thought this might be fun to do. We have the NCPreps staff polls and all the Power Ratings with MaxPreps and Simmons. And as always there is disagreement from us in those. So why not create our own polls. For this we will separate the East and the West. You don't have to list them in order as a teams ranking in the top 5 will be based on number of votes given. Please list 5 from the East and 5 from the West. I will add up all the votes on Thursday afternoon and post the NCPreps Fan Vote Top 5s. I'll get it started. If it goes well I'll do this every week through the playoffs

West
Burns
Shelby
Maiden
Forest Hills
Monroe

East
Wallace Rose Hill
East Dupin
Princeton
South Granville
Hertford County

Yeah…I’m replying to my own post….but I didn’t want y’all to have to go hunting for the above…..

I was surprised that 6-0 PLP has a stronger SOS than the other 6-0’s …CHASE and Forest Hills….it seems there are those that think PLP doesn’t play anyone…including me. 😔

They might be better than we think.

Reckon?

Nah. The only beat Thomas Jefferson and Bessemer City 21-0 each. Those are two horrific teams. They can't be that good.

They do have posters on here they just been quiet this season.
The Hornets are improving week to week! I’m still trying to formulate my true assessment of them. You don’t lose the type of leadership they lost from last years team and bounce right back. I think they’ll be a tough out come playoff time if they continue to improve. Playmakers all over the field especially the RB Wells who looks great!

They're beating bad teams who've lost to good teams...the oowp is in play here.

TJ loses to Burns and becomes 0-7, doesn't change the owp, however now they add Burns 5-1 record...boosts oowp and their rpi goes even higher.

Yea, I'm just not a fan of how that works. I'm not smart enough to know what would work best though. I just want to complain about it.

Yeah...rpi is based off of success, not difficultly. I believe there has to be accountability for division of the competition too...3A and 4A competition has to be worth more than most all 1A competition.

Don't know how...but something else needs to be added.

While complaining about the RPI formula. I don’t like that OWP counts more than your WP. I believe it should count. Just not more than your own WP. Also believe there should be a margin of victory figured in. Up to 28 points….

Agree about the margin. More than 28 though.

What if we figure in an outside, neutral, power rating...?

Let's say Simmons Power Rating he comes out with...We keep our RPI...then take a teams SimPR and add it to it...if a team has a power rating of 122.0 then we'll divide by 1000 to put it into scale, then add it to the RPI...in this example you would add 0.12200 to the RPI.

It ain't much...but it's a start...Simmons power rating incorporates a lot and I feel like it would cover a lot of things we would like considered when seeding
