NCPreps.com 2A Poll after week 1

They don’t need a boost, their coaches know what it takes to shut that wing t down. A Wrh win would be an upset in my eyes. I can’t wait to witness it in person friday
Simmons got dogs by 21. You should’ve said upset in my heart, not eyes

In your heart again, goobs

this haircut is called a blow out, that's the hair cut you should have gotten right after the game

You were there ? Shelbyville was throwing the rock all over the yard???? Shelbyville was beating the breaks off everyone all year. SWO was a 35 pt underdog.... It was 21-0 SWO with 5 mins left in the 1st quarter?????
Nope.
21-0 SWO with 52 seconds left in the first quarter. Not 5 minutes.
And, of course, one might choose to mention the first 2 scores were early after unforced Shelby backfield fumbles at or near the Shelby 20.
And the third score was a 60 yard run on a gassed Shelby defense that was on the field the entire first quarter.
Add a second quarter SWO deep kickoff return for a TD, and you have 28 points, all opportunities for SWO gifted uncharacteristically by the Golden Lions.
The rest of the game was 21-21.
To the full credit and acknowledgment that SWO took full advantage of those opportunities, and played well throughout the game, we tipped our hats to the champs of a game we lost….

So glad the SWO faithful have the big 2004 win over Shelby to hang on to.
They don’t mention 2013 much.

And we don’t have to.

Nope. Watch the video.
Evenly matched teams. Shelby mistakes lost that game. We had another fumble after a long pass play.
And stop with the “Shelbyville” slur.
Cheap.

You bore us, Jacksonville-SWO.
You talk a lot for a has been.
Still relishing and living off a game 23 years ago….and only because of who you defeated.
It’s getting close to 10 years since Jacksonville-SWO sniffed a Championship Game, and then got buried by the Golden Lions.
Win something in THIS decade. Then talk.
That’s how it works.

Does 0-3 bump them from top 10?
I think that depends. If Burns thumps Crest and then Crest beats Shelby next week, then yes they will probably be out. If Shelby loses to ACR in a close one, and Crest thumps Burns. Then Crest beats Shelby by 1, then I think you have to keep them in there.

In my head this makes sense, but it is a little confusing.

I would think most of the 2A schools in the Top 10 would go 0-3 or at best 1-2 with that schedule. Just my opinion.

In people's personal polls...most likely. But halfway through the season when the RPI numbers come out you best believe they'll be top 10 still.

I'm willing to bet a steak dinner that if Shelby hits the halfway point at 2-3 and the RPI numbers come out they'll be top 10 still.

It sure is...but the OWP may very well be a perfect 1.0 for those 3 losses and 0.4 for the rest...so 0.76...and I'm willing to assume the OOWP is also 0.4

This would give them a 0.54 RPI. Looking at last year that'll put them 34th in the state 2A and 18th in the West.
About worse case scenario...the other winning percentages will be higher I believe...definitely within striking distance of 10th

I wouldn't be concerned with Reidsville or Shelby having a slow start. Too much much history and talent to count them out. Back when Forest Hills was still 3A we started 1 - 4 one year and barely made the playoffs. We then marched through the playoffs against some tough teams and made it to the west regional finals. So anything is possible.

Have you seen Shelby or Reidsville play this season?
yes I've seen alot, I know you're used to dominating the flea league but you have praying mantis and giant spiders in this unified division.

Monroe frustrates teams like Catholic and Weddington, this is not lower tier teams they're taking on every year. They're talented, usually well coached, and they've won big 2A(during subdivision) before, so they're not new.

Burns usually gives Shelby the toughest 2A contest, and they have similar schedules as Shelby and Reidsville taking on higher classifications.

I know Reidsville doesn't play the tough games like a Dudley, Grimsley, Mt Tabor, or E. Forsyth, like they used to.

Chopper will be eating crow in late November if he thinks Monroe or burns will knock of the two top dogs in the west
Shelby is familiar with Monroe and Burns, the fans can tell you themselves.

Monroe and Burns have the talent and coaching to dismantle you both. Not making a prediction, but right NOW they are THE top dogs.

The talents there...I would say foer the top 5 in the west...question comes down to coaching and who can keep momentum, or better yet, who can take momentum away when they need it
