Robbinsville won the tournament on the backside placing several wrestlers 3rd-6th. Cata only had 5 wrestlers score team points but 4 won the tournament. Robbinsville only had 1 champ. One reason why CATA is being projected to win the 3a title with those state champs in the line up. The harder the tournament the higher a team like CATA will place. I expect they will place higher at Holy Angels in a couple weeks then any team that competed at the Grapple.
Be interesting to see what Avery does when they finally get healthy. I was looking at Uwharrie dual scores and they have been killing teams in duals.
Jury is still out on Uwharrie right now. Their schedule hasn't shown me much. We will see how some of their kids do at the Holy Angels. They are a little more dangerous with full wrestle backs but I don't think they have state champs on their roster like Avery and Robbinsville.
Avery better hope their lineup gets back on track, currently they would not beat Robbinsville with the ones out.
I would agree about Avery. I don’t think that kid from Cata was a lot better than Fink. He got caught.
Yeah I agree, Ross is not on another level. He is just really good in 1 position. If that match stays neutral Fink is in it and can win. He made it through almost 2 minutes before the quick pin call with 1 second left. We could see a rematch at the Holy Angels.
Yeah I watched the finals I thought it was awful quick to. I couldn’t believe the one ref in that one final stalling calls. That many points scored but there was stalling

BK you keeping up with Holy Angels tournament starting today. Nowell weight class at 132 is really good. There is 5 state champions in the 132 bracket. The HWT bracket is really good.
How about a state champion getting beat at 132 before the quarterfinals. 132 is loaded
That bracket is crazy good. What happened to Shell? Bracket is showing he forfeited his quarterfinal tomorrow morning.
Friend said he hurt something. Was wondering if he might try to wrestle but I guess not.
Hopefully it’s not serious and just precaution. I don’t look for a 1a wrestler to win this tournament. Levi has the best shot.
I would put money on Williams. There is only 3 state placers in the 195 bracket. Williams and Bell in the finals will be a good match. Levi has 2 state champions in his bracket plus Ferere
Really happy to see Reece get the 8-7 win. The kid he beat beat him earlier in the year 9-1
Think Levi might of been the best HWT even though he didn’t win it. He beat the 3a state champion in the consultation finals 5-2 to take 3rd.

Currituck, NC (January 12, 2022) Currituck County, NC is well known as a vacation destination but is now making a name for itself as a high school wresting powerhouse. With an undefeated season in the 3A East coupled with impressive tournament wins, Currituck looks to make a big impact at this weekend’s 41st Annual Virginia Duals.
The last time Currituck competed at this level was in 2003 and Coach Mike Fisher is feeling great about his team. “This year we have six returning state qualifiers and a solid group of freshman that have mixed extremely well with the current team,” said Fisher. “We have great talent in all weight classes and it is pretty exciting to be competing in the American division at the Virginia Duals with some really big schools with impressive programs.”
