Mount Airy 2022 Football Schedule

The younger Stroup kid was an outstanding wide receiver and DB as a sophomore, the same can be said about his potential if he has the normal growth, etc.

So for me, the real question about Mt Airy is the other positions and what will the Bears get from last years jv and middle school? They certainly have the numbers but what is hidden (or not hidden, just unknown to me) from this group of young men.

Yep pretty much BK that pass caught in the corner of the endzone pretty much ended your season I almost feel like I talked to you before that game that night at a gas station on nc 89 w were you the guy who ask me for directions to the stadium I was filling up getting ready to shower and go to the game and a guy from Robbinsville ask me how to get to the stadium I started talking about playing Swain and Murphy before and the fella was real quick to tell me Robbinsville was small A

As I was talking about Mt Airy replacing what graduated and what may be coming along, I realized that I skipped one of Mt Airy's potential real rising stars: Caleb Reed. That young man did some outstanding things last season as a sophomore. He really showed the ability to stand out as both a running back and linebacker, so maybe Mt Airy only has to replace two linebackers.

Bears are gonna be strong, no doubt about it. I agree, gonna be interesting to see what shakes out of those rising numbers. Reid looked real strong feeling in for penn last year, with the expected growth I see him having a huge year. Tyler Mason the same. I agree Whitley he could end up being the best to come through at MA before it’s all said and done. I’m really interested to see Gallimores development over the off season. Dandy at TE could be special. Don’t look like much to feel up there. Agree with the linebackers, would also like to see a little more size at wide receiver to go along with stroupe. Was looking at the rumor of lynch coming over, that would have been icing on the cake out there. Not to mention the help he gives on the hard court. Looking forward to another year of high school football.

Bears had a team meeting on Thursday and there were 65, that is correct, 65 players for the meeting, according to a school official. I do not think that included middle school current year 8th graders but it might have. Just not sure.

Worked Jr Legion game at MA last night and found out the big first basemen is going to play. He is a linemen. Gallimore kid played right feild good ⚾ player also. Bryson George played Short Stop don't forget about him he is strong and runs like a deer. They said they have workouts this morning for 🏈

I am watching these posts, don't tell anyone because it's getting scary how good all these teams are going to be this year. Who has a chance to win the West in 1A ?​

TD, just relax. I can tell you, on good authority, that Mt Airy will not win the West. We have no chance. How do I know this? Just read all the post about the far Western teams. It is one of their birthrights to do it. And I am sure one of them will.

All the Bears can do is continue in the weight room, workout every day, bring all the new, inexperienced players up to speed leaning the Bear culture, play hard in every game taking them one at the time, and just hope that they can compete with the other teams on their very weak schedule and in the conference.

Hopefully we will be able to win a few games this year and then we "might" be allowed to watch the much better western teams play in the playoffs.

A pretty good grapevine item is that DE/TE Eric Dandy and RB Tyler Mason got great feed back at Virginia Tech camp with Dandy getting a verbal offer. Both are rising juniors at Mt Airy, both are returning All State selections.
Mason is, according to the grapevine, getting a lot of ACC type interest.

Maybe, Mt Airy can have a winning season after all. Yep, maybe.

Last DE we saw in this conference with college size was Zaire Patterson (Winston Salem Prep)who is a redshirt freshman on Clemson’s roster at 6’5”. 250. Eric Dandy fits this role and both played basketball!!

GSODbears, you are not seeing my downplaying of the Bears as a tongue-in-cheek putdown for all the crap that comes our way from the fans in the high and mighty west. Go back and reread my post and you will see the humor, the poor boyness, the "we knee at the feet of the great Western teams".

I truly think Mt Airy should be ranked Number 1 in the State, with absolutely no disrespect to Tarboro.
I think our Coaching staff is absolutely top notch, and I think this years team has a real chance to achieve a State Championship.
I do think that our first two games of the season will tell the story. North Surry is cross town rival with a new coach (however inexperienced) and anything can happen if we are over hyped and they get on an early roll.

East Surry is ranked Number 6 in 2A and has one of the best all round quarterbacks we have seen in YEARS, including his brother. And we know their coaching staff is really good. East will be ready to play!

So please reread my post with my dry wit humor and backhanded putdowns of many of our far west friends whom truly think it is their birthright to be the best each and every year.

The Big game comes the following Friday night 8/26/2022, Mount Airy vs East Surry. This match-up did not take place in 2021 for the first time in probably 50-plus years as East Surry moved up to 2A. Both teams went undefeated in their regular seasons. I can see SRO for this game and maybe close to that for the cross-town 2A rival North Surry on 8/19/2022.

I disagree with that. Obviously our game will be tough for them. Starmount will be much improved. I believe they beat the team that beat you guys last year. I could be wrong about that but I thought you guys lost to Andrews.

Has anyone gone to the Top 5 review put out by NC Preps? Only one of the five provided "speed" figures. Mt Airy has 11 players with speeds ranging from less than a 5.0 40 time and they have 11 between <5.0 and 4.56 times.
Do not know if that converts to wins on the scoreboard but as one of the former App State coaches would time me when he was recruiting, you can put weight on a player but it was really hard to add much speed or quickness.

NFHS for the most part is garbage.
The Graham Star YouTube and the FYN are both better and free.
Someone out that way should follow suit.

I would rather have “football players” who play with discipline and grit. You guys should take the lesson from last year to heart.

Just looking at the upcoming schedule on NFHS it looks like a lot of Mount Airys away games will be on NFHS. No home games listed yet.

I'm pretty sure if they're smart they turn it off for their home games. For two reasons. Probably so no one else can watch the game and have the film. And also so people have to come to the game and spend some money. We do the same thing.

I think someone posted earlier but I’m pretty sure it’s up to the individual school if they want to show the games or not.
