Yes we did but you know how the old saying goes. “You can’t wise up a dummy”.
You have to have good assistants to be successful.
Yeah this done pissed me off fr. I got a good buddy, a guy i used to go to war with every friday night on the JK staff. Actually 3 guys who was on my team back in the day on that staff right now at JK. That staff worked they butt off this year and did a great job. we got 5 full time defensive assistants and 3 full time offensive assistants wit 2 or 3 guys who are there when they can. we got at least 9-10 coaches at every practice and game. Trust me when i say they did a great job with our team this year. nobody expected us to be no good this year except a few folks. I would say one of the better staffs around here. Everybody picked ED and Wallace over us. pretty much every person I seen picked them to beat us start of season. And look what happened. We beat em both. And you wanna talk abt the coaching staff? Talk about wallace or Ed coaching staff for underperformin they expectations. We way overperformed our expectation and that is all due to Grady and our staff workin together to get our kids to buy in as he says.
1st and with all do respect just as much as you know about the staff and our school ( JK ) I can guarantee I know just as much if not more. I don't look at things just for this year and yes we had a good year but it's what happens year after year that makes a good program and we've had years and all you can speak/want to speak of is this year. There's a reason why very few alumni support anymore or give back monetarily to our program. There's a reason why very few of our kids succeed in the classroom and after football is done are not talked about again. Programs have to be about more than just the field itself to grow. I'm always at our ( recreation department outside of this year for work ) in Warsaw. Tell me why you never see our staff at Warsaw events where majority of your athletes are from, tell my why our staff isn't consistently at Warsaw Elementary for football games or practice ( anything ) to help the Warsaw youth? I could go on but this is why most think JK & primarily Warsaw end is the worst thing ever! Show me when the last JK camp was put on for Warsaw. It's disappointing that we are the 4th best program in the county but have for the most part the most athlete's. It hurts to my core that the team in black/orange has a brand Running Back U, the team blue/white branded as being blue collar and the team green has academics coming on now with football. But what is our brand ( as I'm spoken too ) our school labeled as trouble etc? With all that said things have to be about a whole lot more than just winning on the field which we did this year but it doesn't erase years. And again I didn't say anyone is bad, but everyone can't reach our kids and get the growth out of them they can be!
Coach Grady turned the program around, he ended the losing season streak, broke the Wallace losing streak, and every year is bettering the program. It’s not going to happen overnight and definitely not from one season to the other, there’s been improvement with him every year, the rest will fall into place, and it’s not just the coaches who have to play their part. Parents too, so many of the kids do what they want when they want, that makes a kid so much more likely to be uncoachable (applies for on and off the field). It starts at home, the coaches can only do so much. And the staff that’s there now has definitely improved the program from what it was just 5 years ago, to say they haven’t would be pretty disrespectful.
2 of our coaches coach youth football teams in warsaw. go on and read that again cuz. 2 of our coaches literally coach the youth man. You need to keep your mouth shut about our staff when you clearly dont know what you talking about. 2 of them are youth football coaches, (Coach Don Smith and Coach Juan Hooper shout out to them) 5 of our coaches teach at the school and are around these kids every day and have great relationships with them. Then you have our defensive coordinator, who has a devotional session one night per week pushing these kids to the Lord. Coachin staff dont never cuss dont never fight they do it the right way. To sit on here and talk about these guys like this when they put in hella hours every week with these kids is crazy. These dudes get paid almost nothin for it and are puttin in 20-30+ hours a week. Imagine you working a extra 20-30 hours a week and aint getting paid for it. Think before you open your mouth next time. Go walk in that school and ask any member of the team what they think bout our coaching staff!
and I prolly don know you and i really aint tryna be disrespectful. I just kno how hard these dudes work and have worked this year and i kno what they don put in for James Kenan football and for these kids. I kno our lil brand is bein bad and stuff but this team aint that. Its a bunch of good young men on this team and a big part of that is because this staff nothing but great role models. So to get up here and see soomebody taking about them just struck a nerve wit me man. I definitely agree we could have some camps and be more involved with the middle school. But it got me when you start talking about why these kids aint succeeding when I kno for a fact these coaches pushing these kids every day to be better football players and better men. And sacrificing so much of they time to this program. No disrespect meant man sorry for getting a lil heated. If you wanna talk mo about it we fasho can.
