Watauga got absolutely hammered by Maiden. I'd say Mitchell pulls this one off. Maybe in a route.
They are ranked 1 spot lower than Lake Norman paper dont mean much our juniors and seniors played em all through rec league and in middle school always pretty close games we won a few and lost a few, I honestly couldn't call it either way haven't seen em play in 4 yrs now its a toss up whoever has the least turnovers and probably come down to the last possession
Watauga had 2 brothers that should be seniors this year, their dad coached em one of em was 6"5 300 in the 8th grade, don't even know if they still play but they were monsters
Watauga was missing some players against Maiden.

Really like Wataugas coach. He is one of the best around surprised he is still there. I hope you guys lay it on them though.
We had better lay it on em we dont generally come out well in close games I'd like 2 win by 2 or more scores, but the kids will decide fri night should be a good one
I don’t know Watauga‘s coach personally…but I have a close friend who does…that speaks very highly of him…which means a lot to me! Tons of respect for Wataugas’ non-conference schedule…playing some “humdinger” smaller schools…us, Mitchell and Burns! Watauga’s schedule is the best gauge for where some of us are …in the West bubble….so to speak! It’s very similar to Rocky Mount’s schedule…as a gauge in the East….with Tarboro, Nor’easter, and Holmes.
Last week…I would’ve took Watauga over Mitchell…this week….I’d take Mitchell…big too! I understand that Watauga had some missing players…but I didn’t see any missing lineman in that article…yeah… the skill players mean a lot… but controlling the line of scrimmage is essential for their offense to be effective!! Mountie says that Mitchell has a strong line and a deep line….that leads me to believe that Mitchell will win this game!

Watauga ended the game with their 3rd string QB and not sure he won’t start Friday… They won their first game with the backup starting so he had some reps going into Maiden… But Maiden dominated both line of scrimmage from the opening whistle this past Friday… Watauga looks to have 2 decent RB’s but their o-line didn’t give them much room, and Maiden ran away or double teamed the DL from Watauga who is getting some D1 looks… I would say Mitchell by 10 from what I seen last week in Maiden and reading about Mitchell/Lake Norman
This used to be a semi-rivalry back in the day, and then it just stopped for some reason. Watauga owns the all-time record 4-2, but this group of boys never lost to the Watauga youth league team, who was in the same conference as Avery/Mitchell/Yancey. I was surprised by the Maiden score, I thought the Pioneers would hang better than that, so right now I'm gonna say Mitchell by a touchdown. I might be wrong, but Lake Norman could be the best team the Mountaineers see all season.
Our seniors only beat Watauga youth league once that I remember Greg Hoilman and Brock coached em that year, Troy Hoilman and Ty Pittman were the QBs in the 6th grade, that year we lost the opener to them 28-0 then beat em last game of the season 28-0, this years senior class was in fifth, I cant tell you what happened behind that group after that we went to McDowell for a season with the rec boys because Avery and Watauga went and played in a league around Charlotte middle school Troy's 8th grade group beat Watauga by a td, next year we combined Carters team lost to them by a td, Tys team beat them by a td it should be a good game every game I just mentioned I attended like I say dont know about our freshman and sophomore class but fairly even play over the years with our juniors/Seniors
I will take Mitchell in a defensive battle. My question for Maiden fans on here. Did Maiden pass a lot against Watauga. Also how was the run against Watauga.
Hope we get to play. School is virtual until after Labor Day. Smart move until this surge passes.
See if you can find years we played em and scores I'd like to see how close we played em back in the day, I'm thinking last time we played em was mid 90s?

Yeah my wife is a teacher they are still going to make the teachers go to the school from 7-3 that's stupid if they're that worried they can do it from home, I hope they don't cancel fball, mine is a senior this covid is bad stuff about 20 at work out with it I highly recommend the vaccine
It's bad right now in Mitchell and Yancey co I think it was smart to go virtual I just hope the season can continue we need to pray for our nation we're in bad shape that's for sure, I think The big guy is letting us know who is in charge, and until this nation acknowledges it, and embraces it this will continue

I hope I'm wrong but if I was a betting man I'd say by this time next week the whole state may be virtual and sports likely put off till spring, I hope it dont happen I'd like to see this stuff die out time will tell prayers for all affected by covid

It's not just covid hopefully you don't get injured or sick with anything else that needs you going to a hospital, Spruce hospital is of course full their out of ventilators, Mission has gone from 7 covid patients July 9th to 150 today. Last week I drove my cousin to Knoxville to be with her husband who was having heart problems they had to transfer him there because that was the closest hospital with a bed left (he's home now) and ICU beds aren't even that close.

People can't even get into urgent cares or hospitals for basic emergencies and injuries. I wish people would understand the severity of what we are facing. I can't imagine being a nurse or doctor right now.

To my knowledge looking at the North Carolina numbers we currently have a little over 3500 people in the hospital. That could overwhelm some counties but not most. We have a little over 14,000 deaths in North Carolina since this started. People like you and social media are scaring people to death based on small numbers. The current population in NC is around 10.5 Million. I hate to see any life lost at all, but that is not a reality we can expect and never will be. We are ruining folks lives, dreams and ambitions based on something you do not even understand. I am not saying ignore it, be smart and do the right things, but you cannot continue to punish those that are. I called the rules unfair and unjust a year a ago and stand by that. You remain ignorant to your social media feed to keep yourself safe, meanwhile we should be making sure our children have a future.!!!We are for the most part older on here, we need to worry about the kids more than us. Yea its not going to go away so we should take no precautions and just spread it amongst each other. Some of the weak and elderly will die oh well what's 15,000 people?
Those 15,000 people are people like meteorologist Chris Justus sister in law who was pregnant and died of covid during the pregnancy. Luckily the baby lived. So much pain for that family now.
The problem with your argument is people will not just do the right thing unless there are mandates and laws. People will not wear masks, people will not get vaccinated. People will not stay at home when they are sick, they won't even distance. What life is ruined more, a husband who just lost his wife, a child who just lost his mother, a son who just lost his grandparents who raised him? Or a football player who misses some games, a kid who has to learn virtually for a few months, a business that loses money. Sorry human life is the most precious thing we have and we should try and protect each other.

Titanman-while I dont disagree with you, the problem is people wont do the right thing even if it is mandated. Mask mandates are not followed by alot of people.......cant mandate vaccines etc.....
I think I'll trust the judgment of nurses and doctors I see pleading with people to take things serious because their hospitals are full over your opinion. People like you keep getting proved wrong with this daily but you're going to stand on your hill until you or someone you love dies..
School districts remain ignorant not issuing mask mandates while delaying the inevitable because of parents that are flocking school board meetings boardering on violence and crying their conspiracy theories. Would you rather your kid be in school or get sent home every other week to quarantine?

What are you suppose to change if Delta affects the young population more and if you are vaccinated you can still get it. Is what is this year for high school football. Wonder what affect there will be for college football. I’m headed to Neyland Thursday night.
