Mitchell Over Walkertown To Play WRH For (State Championship)

I didn't see any real speed from Walkertown like I thought I would. They were definitely a solid team though. Number 3 showed surprising speed last night on that 70 yard TD. Walkertown couldn't catch him.....

Yea and 30 showed his speed on the kick return and when he chased down the return guy from Walkertown.
Overall thought Walkertown played well, but the Mitchell line started doing what they do and opened some good holes in the second half.

Agree Walkertown did not have any speed, Mitchell mistakes kept Walkertown in the game. Mitchell was the better team by a mile.

I thought we played one of our worst games on offense, their D may have had something to do with that. Our line did as always wear the other team down. Way to go HOGS!! On D I thought we played very well. GO MITCHELL!!!!

"WAKE UP CAll " 4 points does not make winning by a mile and Walkertown is know for causing mistakes . It is what it is ,Mitchell and Walkertown were evenly matched. Playing at home has always been said to give a team a 6 point advantage and most up that way did not think Walkertown could play there in the cold weather. IMO if played at Walkertown they win by 2 TDs and as much as I would love for the West to win state , I have my doughts . Some of you talk as though you won by 2 or three TDs , it was 4 points ! and that looks bad for that great team I was hearing about. Walkertown caused those mistakes and if you play next Saturday thinking the game was close by mistakes then be prepared to lose ! I am not putting Mitchell down , just not impressed with Mitchell and offering good advice to prepare for next week ! What counts is the scoreboard impressing or not ! The game was what a 4th round should be, close. but WRH had a bigger win !

After what Walkertown did at West Montgomery and East Surry, beating them--even by 4 and at home--is pretty impressive to me.

I was talking about them clamming it was mistakes the score was close and their mistakes was not forced by Walkertown . With them think that way and WRH has a blowout

So do you think USCjr and better than UNC.Seems like UNC made some mistakes and lost.Maybe Mitchell made some mistakes that kept Walkertown in the game but didn't cost Mitchell the game.

You should not be making many mistakes this deep in the playoffs or you will probably not win. Are you saying Walkertown played a mistake free game. LOL The teams were evenly matched that is the only way to look at it . You win and are giving excuses on why it was close. That is so laughable ! ! What will your excuse be next week if you lose?! You Won be happy and move on !

Maybe the Mitchell guys think they had a lot of mistakes that coast them points or made the game closer than it should of been.I would bet you will see mistakes in the college games tonight and in the playoffs.

Reality check folks, on any given night walkertown is capable of beating Mitchell and Mitchell is capable of beating walkertown. Same could be said for the Western Semifinal games. Any team that makes it to the championship team finds favor to be on their side along the way. While a handful of teams would have represented the West well, Michell came out victorious. It's why we play the game, and it is why we love it. Good luck to Mitchell.

Well Walkertown may have caused a few of the mistakes but they did not cause the troubles Mitchell had on the first series of plays. They did not cause Mitchell to get some very costly penalties by moving early before the snap. I know you will disagree and that is fine but I felt Mitchell left at least 14 points on the field by mistakes they did to themselves. Yes Walkertown is a very good team they would not have made it this far without being a great team. They should be proud of the season they have had. They have nothing to be ashamed of.

Taking nothing from Walkertown but I was personally more impressed with East Wilkes. Not saying they would beat Walkertown just from my point of view, which means nothing I like EW better.

No doubt WRH had a bigger win, but as you say all that counts is the scoreboard and well MHS is only one of two teams left. Amazing seeing that they are not that good and have played no one all year.

Well I am now through and will move on to making arrangements to go to WS on Saturday. (If I can get off work)

The comments you are upset about saying that it should not have been as close as it was were not even Mitchell posters, they are rival school posters just stating what they seen at the game. Of course Mitchell is not a way better team than Walkertown or Walkertown wouldn't have been in the 4th round or beat the teams they did to get here. But what the posters were referring to was that Mitchell out gained Walkertown by about 100 yards, Mitchell failed to score 2 times in the red zone including one on the 6 inch line, but that is a credit to Walkertown's defense. Mitchell also had a touchdown called back and a stop on 4th down play for Walkertown that was then called roughing the passer and extended the Walkertown drive which led to a td. Mitchell also threw a pass in their own red zone with 30 seconds left in the first half (in hindsight probably should have took a knee and the lead to halftime) which was picked and allowed Walkertown to take a 14 to 13 lead into half when it had been 13 to 0 with 45 seconds left in the half, but again credit to Walkertown. Teams make their own breaks though and Mitchell should have played a cleaner game if they wanted to win by more as I'm sure Walkertown wished they would have done things better too, but a win is a win so it don't matter. I also agree with wncbowhunter in that East Wilkes was the slightly better team than Walkertown just purely in my opinion on the nights I seen them play.

All sounds ok but I can say if the game had been at Walkertown you would be saying the same thing but Walkertown IMO would have won at home where East Wilkes didn't . I could be wrong and we will never know. Both games were good and close games. Couldn't ask for 2 better games ! Good luck next Sat. Keep it in the west ! If Mitchell wins big next week ,my thoughts is final pole top 5.
  1. Mitchell
  2. WRH
  3. Walkertown
  4. James Kenan
  5. East Wilkes

Mitchell had too many penalties and a couple of penalties at crucial times that hurt us. That is what I thought the original post was about. If we have that many penalties in the championship then we really have less chance than we already do. I know nothing about WRH but I know most are not giving us any chance.

You have a better chance than the rest of teams in the West!

Just saw WRH Friday night against a very very good James Kenan team. I have no dog in the fight, but WRH is hard for any team in any classification to deal with. Congrats on the win.

I hope we can make it respectable sportsnut and thanks for the vote of confidence.

I like MH run game, the backs are patient and it's like a change up in baseball. When I saw them they let EW D over pursue and then catch a seam. Not sure how the MH D will handle the eastern speed, imo some of those presnap and holding penalties was due to speed across the line from them. Best of luck to Mitchell may make the trip out to see this one.

Robbinsville.

Thanks. East beat swain 22-7 and rville beat Swain 22-7. Rville beat the tigers in Rosman by 8 or 9. MH beat tigers by 4 or 5 and then beat Mitchell by 3 tds. We should be in the top five if it was 1aa/1a.

41-27 was th Heritage vs Mitchell final. Not that that really matters. I agree that Rville should end up top 5
