Mitchell Over Walkertown To Play WRH For (State Championship)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Coach Pardue of Walkertown at Starmount last year as the Def Coordinator?

Whether that's the case or not, he's quite simply done a tremendous job in rebuilding the confidence of the Wolfpack after the sudden coaching change over the summer, and has molded this team into a state title contender in a relatively short period time...Ditto for Coach Pittman of Mitchell County who has also done a tremendous job for the Mountaineers as well...

Should be a great game between two teams that are both playing some of their best football of the season...

Good luck to both teams!

And good luck to the winner in the 1AA title game

You are correct.

When you get to the fourth round they are no bad team left.Should be a good game .Mitchell playing at home probably the favorite. But it will still come down to who makes the most mistakes.Haven't been to Mitchell since we stopped playing them but will probably be there Friday.

Walkertown by 2 TD's minimum. They are the most battle tested team in the West.

"Walkertown is only a 5 year old HS. Unlike all schools in the WSFCS they are a community school and the community for years had been wanting their own HS. I'm not sure they will travel like the traditional powerhouses of the NW1A (Mt. Airy, E. Surry) but they should bring a good crowd."
Explain to me how Walkertown is different than the other Forsyth Schools? They may have built the school in Walkertown and have a lot of kids from Walkertown, but to imply that their players are all kids from Walkertown seems a bit unrealistic. In football alone, they have had some of their best players the past few years transfer from other Forsyth County Schools. They are not all from Walkertown. Not trying to take anything away from them, but everyone gripes about the other Forsyth Schools but seems to think Walkertown is somehow different when they are not.

If Mitchell is able to use that line to control the pace of the game they have a chance, if not I think Walkertown will win due to their speed.

Where did I say anything about where the players came from. Well the surprise is it took 46 post before someone to brings up WSFCS policies.

There have been plenty of threads over the last 5 years bashing either Bishop or WSFCS, go dig one of them up and make your comments. Let this one be about both teams playing on the field.

OBTW, this post is not as a moderator, just a regular poster.

When you say it is a community school unlike all schools in WSFCS, that is saying that they are different than the other WSFC Schools. You started this slant by making this statement on this thread. If they have kids from outside their community playing sports, then explain how they are different as you stated. I am just surprised that schools like McGuinness and the Forsyth Public Schools get grief but somehow you think Walkertown is different. I am trying to understand how Walkertown is different than the others. You said they are different. I am just asking how. Maybe there is something I don't understand.

Great coaching job keeping the confidence on the team after some losses to bigger schools early in the year. Some East Surry fans were saying they got beat at the line of scrimmage pretty bad. It will probably come down to turnovers and early in the year I think Walkertown had some issues with that.

Policies and politics aside this game is about the two best 1aa teams in the west. Walkertown has played a much harder schedule and is hitting on all cylinders at this time. It will be the first in a while Mitchell will face a line as big as there own. Just hoping Mitchell can keep the game respectable.
Walkertown 41
Mitchell 24

When you talk about schedule Walkertown did play bigger schools but Mitchell only played 3 1a schools during the season until the playoffs.

There was nothing wrong with friday nites posting. Some people just assume to much and we all know the rest of that one...

Dosso......I live in Kernersville for years before I moved out for family reasons. Walkertown is a lot like a small town that dots all over the state of NC. That town is very driven by community. When I saw them in baseball playoff couple years ago.....I could tell that the fans really support them and I get the feeling that school is based on small town thing more so compare to EF, WF, Reagan and other schools in Forsyth County.

Heck Kernersville has a little league and could have WT in the district. WT strongly want their own district and got one. That tells you right there that Walkertown has thier own community and darn proud of it. Good luck to both teams and hope they have a chance to bring the state crown. It is going be real hard this year due to Kenan and Wallace Rose Hill.

It's kinda funny how 3 of the final 4 in 1aa will be 2a in 2017.... Kinda hate it for some of these teams that had stellar seasons to go out where apples aren't playing apples. But that's the system in this great state!

Mactazheels- I don't doubt what you are saying and I totally understand and believe that. I was just kind of surprised that with all the good football players they have had who are not from Walkertown that there is not more complaining, but I bet if it was basketball there would be. That having been said, they are clearly a very good team and it should be a great game Friday.

Dosso, I have also wandered and even made a post last year on how close they were to East Forsyth and could surely keep drawing from them and they are probably less than 8 miles. I think it has been known after their first year that they would be or most likely be going 2A in the next realignment.I would say most of it's students went to East Forsyth before Walkertown was built . Walkertown's population was 4,675 at the 2010 census compared to Mount Airy's 10,388. So from that it looks like they may be drawing from somewhere. Their ADM this year is 778 up from 465 in 2012. From 2012 to 2013 their ADM went to 660 then 743 in 2014.

They have drawn some from Carver also I believe. But I think a couple of their best players the past couple of years were from Mt. Tabor. Regardless, they are indeed a talented team. Any team that beats W. Montgomery and East Surry has to be a very good team.

I think Mitchell is the favorite playing at home and the travel will be something new to Walkertown. They better take the underdog approach.

KIngbluedevil.......what are you talking about???? Walkertown play all three games on the ROAD this year in playoff.

I don't think travel will be a factor or even weather. The field has had 5+inches of rain in the past 3 days. But both teams will be playing on the same field so that should not be a factor. At this point it all comes down to execution.
Whoever plays the game with the fewest mistakes should win. Just hope for a clean well played game. Safe travels to all those coming from Walkertown. Hoping for the best officials I have seen all year and I expect we will see that. Leave it to the kids on the field.
Still feel this is the best team Mitchell has faced. But as I have said for 3 weeks now by 1 or 40 just hope to move on.
Hoping Mitchell fans come out in force. Also hope that even if Mitchell gets killed the fans will stay and support the kids till the end. They have earned it. I for one have really enjoyed watching this team play. Sorry Redy but hope those boys have to wait one more week before they gear up for #3 in wrestling.

#3 in wrestling will be here soon enough. I hope the fans stay until the end win or lose and I also hope the fans will go onto the field after the game and congratulate the kids on a great season and show their appreciation for the hard work that these seniors have put in to have suc a successful season. I know I will be on the field to wish our kids well next week after the game if we win and if Walkertown wins I will wish their fans and players well that I see. I also hope that the kids decide this. I have been very disappointed by the officiating for playoff games. Safe travels to the Walkertown faithful.

Field will probably be frozen at this point.

Good luck to the Mountaineers from the Mountaineers.

Just wondering where the 35-21 Walkertown score came from be cause the final was 27-23 Mitchell.

I thought we had them when we went up by 13 and then they came back and put us down 14 to 13 before half. They received the kickoff after half and returned it to around our 30 and momentum was all on their side but our defense held them to a field goal which was huge and the rest was all Mitchell. I thought at this point in the playoffs that the refs would be good but this was the worst called game all year that I have watched. Walkertown never quit and should hold their head up for a great season.

Redy I am pretty sure that was his prediction. It was posted pre game at like 712. He was wrong! I am so glad yall won, congrats!
