Mitchell and Mountain Heritage Returning

I saw tonight that Mitchell will return to the field next Saturday the 19th against Draughn.

Mountain Heritage sounds like they are working on sites for games and will be returning soon. They will play Mitchell at Mars Hill and Avery at Madison.

Glad to see what seemed unrealistic and unthinkable a week ago is going to indeed happen!

Avery, Mitchell and M Heritage all back in school that soon? If so, good for those kids, schools and communities. High school sports brings communities together. I had heard some of those schools "may not" be open for possibly months. I am old Lees-McRae and App State guy that visits multiple times a year to the area. Thanks for any clarification and prayers to God's Country up there.

Seen Asheville City schools re open oct 28 No time set for Buncombe co yet.

I'm not sure how soon they'll be back in school. Most of these schools still don't have running water. Buncombe has requested hundreds of mobile restrooms in order to open back up.

I think it's the best thing for that community. Well for a lot of that community. They only downside is they're going to have to play in that conference. RBI wise they'll probably end up 4th or 5th. Because that's a terrible football conference. But for mountain heritage who's the only one that has a chance it'll be a great thing to get some games under their bill before the playoffs

No, they will not be back in school just like Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools but they will be allowed to participate in Extracurricular Activities, sports, etc. Haywood and Henderson County started sports back last week and school resumes for both tomorrow.

Nov. 6 was the original date for return to school in Mitchell County. Still lots of areas with very limited travel options and no power.

Thank you for asking. Supplies are in decent shape right now in Mitchell. Still getting in stuff daily but feel free to check back in, in a week or 2 as this is going to be a long process for many in this area. Still can’t believe what I see at times. Keep us (WNC) in your prayers.

Thanks all for the donations much appreciated. The needs now are for Sleeping bags, blankets, propane or kerosene heaters, hot hands, and such for folks still without power, 35 at my house this morning so it's getting a little cooler.
