I believe East Duplin held Wallsce Rose Hill and Hibriten to under 200 yards of offense that year. Pretty difficult to do in high school football.
East Duplin made a couple INTs against us that made the difference. We couldn't stop them and they couldn't stop us except those two plays. Their offensive line was amazing. Our D was good that year and they messed us up. Add that speed in the backfield and they were an amazing team. Hibriten was amazing too, obviously. Shelby and ND were just a notch below but even on a neutral field imo. Final Four was LOADED... I say it again.
WRH and ED…same conference almost swept the 2a championships for the East in 17. Just saying!😜
They would have if they knew how to throw. WRH almost lost last minute because of that.

Thanks MC, for saying something about Coach Harris. He had an unique distinction not many coaches have, Winning a state title in 1953 in a six man football league at a school in Forsyth County. He was here from 1959 until 1987, and passed away in 2011. He is buried in Lincolnton's public cemetery.
I remember the Lions Bowl, well. Hats off to your Father for the honor of having played in it and being a fine alumnus of NCSD. You had to have been an outstanding player to get picked for it. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

An older blue Devil I know..who was starting QB for Maiden in the early 60’s…Vietnam vet too….He shares some great stories about the Blue Devils of old. Talks about our Coach Barefoot… the coach before Tom Brown…how they once won a game on a drop kick by Jackie Moose…Jackie passed recently…or a game they won 2-0!😂
Maiden was pretty good back then as well.

Maiden is the quintessential football town. The Blue Devils have been good as long as I can remember, The younger guys aren't going to forget.
About the Shelby fellers, Knowing some of them, I don't think they mind someone using their thread especially since it's a hypothetical one, besides, as a poster you're in good standing statewide. Why, if there was a title or office for NC Preps posters to run for you would get elected.

For the record…I’ve deleted my first 3 attempts on this reply….I struggled with the term “exactly”… in your question.
Sooo…here goes….simply put…it’s the cast of characters that participate on these boards.
I am not sure there was a struggle with the cast of characters that you enjoy. I believe you love to cast yourself but good try.
My first one was……eavesdropping….but that’s considered rude by most.
