Mallard Creek/Georgia High School:

Hey contact Northeastern High School coach Antonio Moore they have been playing schools from Virginia for awhile and if they can play with Lake Taylor which they should have won the game when lake Taylor was ranked # 25 in the country,I.C. Norcom ect. they can play with Mallard Creek and they have a good fan traveling base probably better than Mallard Creek.

Win or lose the Creek is trying to schedule big games for National exposure. Absolutely nothing to gain by playing a Northeastern. If you win, you should have won they're 2A. If you take an L, you were overrated. Greensboro Page had nice size and FBS players on both sides of the ball. They handled Wake Forest, Richmond and Middle Creek. They were literally mauled by MC. If not for the running clock during the entire 2nd half, I imagine they would have put 80 plus on Page. Words can not express how bad they would beat a little 2A Northeastern school with no depth. FYI! Lake Taylor's National ranking at the end of the Year 474 no where near 25.

It is one hour from NE to Lake Taylor. It is five hours to Mallard Creek. If New Bern is big time strong or Havelock is rolling and beating 4A teams, such as New Bern, handily then the five hour drive may make much more sense. Driving five hours does not make sense for MC or Northeastern.

Richmond has proven they aren't scared to play anyone. They played indy when TK was there and they continue to schedule butler regularly since 2009 getting beat every single time besides 2014, but the continually comeback for more. If they told MC no, I'm sure they had a legit reason.

MC reached out to Richmond 2013. They pick Rocky River game over MC. 2014 reached out to Scotland after they scrimmaged Scotland @ Rocky River. No game.

Wiseman I believe MC & Butler will renew their contract with games becoming so hard to schedule.

I believe our buddy hornet is dillusional about certain teams competitiveness. And besides driving 4hrs plus against a mediocre team..jus is not worth it

They never played Indy in the regular season. Not sure either team tried to make the game happened but why should they when if they are good enough they will play each in the playoffs.

Richmond did play West Charlotte on a two year contract in 1997 and 1998.

Richmond also had Providence on their schedules in the late 2000s back when Providence was still a top 10 program.

Richmond co doesn't exactly have a good record vs Meck schools. Cant blame them for ducking. I don't get why its hard from MC to schedule games in Atlanta. Only a 3 hr drive away, hell playing in Greensboro is a 2hr drive

Depending on what area of Atlanta it is usually going to be a much longer drive than three hours from Mallard Creek to a high school in Atlanta. Traffic is usually brutal on I-85 South. Buford is a considerable distance to the north of Atlanta and that is going to be at least a 3:30 hour drive at 220 plus miles. Northern Guilford is probably the fartherest school in Guilford County and it is 95 miles. If you are going to Atlanta to play you want the opponent to be one of the top couple of teams in the area and hopefully have some name or national recognition.

Gwinnett county is probably the closest area in Ga where you will reach real competition. You are not going to get there by bus less than 4 hours.

If Mallard Creek really wanted to play teams in the Atlanta metro area they are going to have to travel four hours or less. There are a lot of schools in the metro area that could play with Mallard Creek not schools just from Gwinnett County. I've been around teams in NY,NC,and GA. and I know talent when I see it. Westlake has traveled over four hours to play teams in South Georgia which was a national known team. Sometime if you really want to get national recognition you got to travel. Teams from all over the country come to Atlanta metro area to play and all are not well known nationally. A few years ago Westlake was the only high school in the country that had six or seven kids in the NFL at one time it was all in the national media. There has been teams from Mississippi,Compton, Calif.,Miami,Ala. and other states just to play teams in Atlanta metro area because of the talent to see who's the best. The game if necessary especially a big game can be played on a Saturday in Georgia at a neutral site if necessary that way Mallard Creek could leave Charlotte on a Friday and stay in a hotel they have the money that what some team does. Southeast Raleigh when they played a few years ago in Myrtle Beach,SC. left Raleigh on a Friday and stayed at a hotel for a Saturday game. Later.

Hornet62 I see you're not to familiar with Mallard Creek or CMS. You would probably have to get Judge Judy to co-sign for every player 1 year in advance for CMS or whoever approves it in NC to let you do a overnight. Also MC opened it's doors in 2007. The oldest Alumni who started MC as Freshman in 2007. They're like 23 years old. LMAO! Not a big booster club. Who's going to pay for it? Those teams you mentioned have the finances. MC is already on the National Stage and it's not necessary to travel to get the recognition. You're not getting to Marietta, Riverdale, Stone Mountain, Roswell, Alpaharetta, or any Metro area by bus within 4 hours. If they had the funds to travel and do a overnight. This thread would not exist. Very young program and as of now it would be best for those teams to travel to Mallard Creek.

hornet you mentioned Mallard Creek playing Northeastern to start with. That is delusional.

Mallard Creek would willingly travel to Atlanta but a few things need to happen. Number one they must be reimbursed for expenses. They do not have the funds to travel with hotel stays while losing a home date. They had a game scheduled with an Atlanta team for this season that fell through. When you take 70-80 people that far there is cost involved. When you do not have a home date there is lost revenue. The money from a home gate and the concessions go a long way in a CMS budget. A lot of factors.

SE Raleigh's expenses including the hotel was paid for by the game promoter when they went to Myrtle Beach. If you can guarantee Mallard Creek's expenses I feel confident they will go to Atlanta and play Westlake or any other team in Georgia.

With MC getting players to the nfl. Any chance these players make "generous" donations to the athletic dept?

I heard DJ. Humphries was possibly going to replace our press box which is the size of a Dog House....:p

If those teams do travel to Mallard Creek as you mentioned Creek will still be losing money because inmost cases they pay the visiting team to come from out of state or from along distance in state.

If Mallard Creek is willing to come to Atlanta to play Westlake i'm sure AD Wilson will be glad to pay for a two year contract. It only take you 4 hours and a half top from Charlotte to Atlanta they can leave Charlotte between 11:00am and 12:00 pm and still be in Atlanta at Westlake by 4:00. To get to Westlake from Charlotte you are going to take the 285 by pass and miss from going through the down town area anyway. Westlake has gotten paid in the past to travel to Colquitt County High School which is more than four hours from Atlanta $14,000 for a two year contract for the games to be played at Colquitt County. The right team will pay for you to come to them if they are a big time program. NC schools got to do like the schools and kids in GA. if they really want to go and play a team and don't have the money in their budget they get out into the community and raise the money you will be surprise the support the community will give the school and kids not just the booster club either.

I think MC should take the open date unless they can get a marquee game.

How much a team will be paid to travel has several variables. Do they bring fans whether theirs or third party, how far are they traveling, how much name recognition do they have, et al. For a team to travel they often compare what the payout is, what the costs are, and what could they make at home. Often money takes a back seat to building the program but a school with strong financial support can take those hits.

The drive to Westkake on a Friday would probably be more than four hours. You do not want to get there after a four plus hour drive and play.

Colquitt County can stroke a check for $15k with no problem if they want to. This is the school that stayed in a hotel the night before a gsne 40 miles from home. Huge financial support and big crowds.

Hornet62 so you believe you can travel to the A. You would arrive in Gwinnett County about 4pm by bus, based on your departure time. Get off 285 to Camp Creek Exit on a Friday during the worst traffic time in Atlanta. Depending on how bad traffic is, you would probably arrive at Westlake @ 5:30. Game time starts @ 7pm. Not a good look. Mallard Creek does not have the same type communities as Scotland, Richmond, Shelby, or Crest. Were they're the only school in the community. Cox Mill, North meck, Vance are all within a 7 mile radius. Played in the Hoover 7 on 7 last year. It was tough trying to raise money. Stayed 2 nights and took 20 players and coaching staff.

Shelby and Crest are both in Shelby about 4 miles apart.

Totally different. People there grew up and went to those schools. They support them as their kids go there or to the other one. That shows in the crowds at the games. Most people in large urban areas do not care much about high school sports. Unfortunate to say the least.

Nepsy 7 if Mallard Creek would do the game and want to go nationally something got to give. When you travel you never going to have the comfort of a home game not even in your own conference plus you don't even have to take 285 to Camp Creek you can take I -20 west and get off at exit 44 and it will take you right by Westlake.

Westlake has six high schools within a 10 miles radius and there's no problem raising money nor with a good fan base. Football in Georgia is like basketball in NC. The females enjoy it as much as the males does even basketball.

If you travel to 20. Than you have to travel through downtown on 85. Either way you're running into traffic, It would have to be an overnight game. The Creek does not have the fan or the community support to make it happen.

They can leave early in the morning with the principal's approval. Not sure if he needs to get downtown to sign off. Remember when traveling to Atlanta on a Friday the traffic is brutal. I have driven it numerous times on Friday and the potential for slow or stopped traffic is about a guarantee. They really need to be there by about 2pm to include stopping for lunch and may be a stretching period before the meal. That would give them time to relax and rest, have a pregame meal, and do their pregame ritual. It is definitely not a preferred scenario to drive down the day of the game but that is probably the best option. Game ends at 10pm. Team on the bus and leaving by 11pm with snack boxes. They are at MC about 4am. Most do not want their students getting back and being turned loose at 4am. The kids will be beat come Monday. An example woudl be , if Clemson were playing at UNC which is about the same distance they would bus up and stay in a hotel Friday night. They would bus back after the game Saturday night.

The best bet is to play this type of game on Saturday but most schools prefer Friday night as they are not competing with college football.

No Nepsy7 they can get I-20 west off of 285 south going toward Birmingham and bypass going through the downtown area and exit off of 20 at exit 44 which will take you to Westlake.

Westlake don't have a problem playing on Saturday the fans and stadium will still be full and personally Saturday is good for everybody Creek fans can come to Atlanta and spend the night and see the city.
