When was the last time a Carolina defense held a team to minus yards rushing before tonight. Looked good all around.
Jaylen Wright had 115 yards on 12 carries
James Pearce had 2 sacks
Daevin Hobbs had 3 tackles
I’m so happy the Heels beat Butch Jones 2.0. No conference cheering for me. Vols are the only SEC Team I want doing good.
Agreed. Folks on a few of the Tar Heel sites talking about how a win tonight would help the ACC. LOL. I'm not cheering for Stanford, SMU and Cal etc.
Personally I think Maye is the best QB in college football.
Before yesterday I would have agreed. But man Sanders went off for Colorado.
Not at that pace but have to be encouraged by some of the new moves by the DL as they finally worked on something other than bull rushes in the off-season in addition to the tackling.
Hopefully he'll get his top two receivers back next week. Regardless, Mack has talked for months about running the ball more, which is better for Drake and the team. Just glad to see him play a game for once where he isn't taking hits both running and in the pocket.

I’ll make a prediction. The only way Drake turns pro after this season is if UNC is in the playoffs. And I don’t think that will happen (yes, I’m a Tar Heel).

Omg it feels so good for the 1st week of college football and Clemson going down to Duke
If it wasn’t for a muffed punt by Duke Clemson doesn’t even score. Think about what Mack had at Texas in Young then McCoy and after them none of his highly QB commits never panned out. Clemson had Watson then Lawrence maybe they are getting ready to go through what Texas has for years.
If I'm a Tar Heel fan the most important thing that happened this weekend might of been tonight. It's clear Dabo's stubbornness on the portal is killing him at reciever. They have zero dudes on the outside. Suddenly that schedule looks very nice.
I think over the past years Dabo has made it about him and not the team. Clemson pre game running down the Hill seems like it’s about Dabo now running full speed look at me.
Texas A&M after Johnny Football is the same. Numerous elitel qb recruits, including Kyler Murray, but none took off.
None of those QBs took teams to National Championship games. Texas and Clemson did it basically one QB after the next. After McCoy none of Texas highly rated QBs were that good in College. Clemson may be headed down the same road
Clemson has underwhelmed at QB and receiver since Lawrence. Similar to FSU post Winston. Its a key position and getting the wrong guy can set you back. Also think losing Elliott/Scott and Venables so close together hurt. Then they loss streeter. The offense is a mess.
This is Chad Morris' offense now being ran by Garret Riley. Elliott/Scott grew up in the Clemson system. Streeter/Riley didn't and it shows.
Scheme is great but it still about having the athletes. You can just see they are lacking explosive plays. Shipley is a great back with nice speed but doesn't make people miss. I like Antonio Williams but he is not a kid you have to game plan for. The evolution of that receiver position changes the game. You look at FSU- LSU game and it looks like a different sport.

Clemson typically schemes guys open. They have great talent; they just don't have the scheme to get them open consistently. Elko can coach ball especially on defense. Took at team that was 3-9 and was 16 points from an undefeated season last year and whipped top 10 Clemson. Dare I say it. Duke football is real and will be a factor in the ACC race.
In this NIL/Transfer portal society today the coaches that can relate to players, build teams and motivate them to achieve more than the sum of their parts will be big winners. We see great X/O coaches who won big previously now struggle in Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, Dabo as they adjust to player empowerment whereas Coach Deion Sanders, Coach Elko, and Norvell excell in the same environment as they know how to relate to players on a personal level and get them to buy into TEAM.
It's a great point...All of those guys can coach ball but Kelly in particular does an awful job with connections. Freeman excels at it. I actually think Mack does a strong job as well
