It's a public school, but it's not a 1A school. Schools with open enrollment policies of any kind (charters and parochials) below 4A should either have a separate championship or be made to compete at least one classification higher in the postseason.
I don't care that WSP exists and puts together a powerhouse team the way it does, but it shouldn't be able to win state championships by beating traditional 1A schools. Let them beat other non-traditional schools, or at least compete against schools of a comparable talent pool. Pamlico probably would have been playing South Stokes or MA for the title, which would have been a fair contest.
