Many question marks starting out this year, as Coach G departed to Asheboro and with some leaders graduating from our back to back state title runners-up teams from last year and the year before.
With the program back in good shape, its been interesting to see how the new head coach and young leaders on offense would respond.
Close games against Davie (20-14 OT), Dudley (14-19), E Guilford (19-16), and E Forsyth (20-19), showed us that it takes a team some time to gel and learn a new offense especially with a sophomore QB leading the way. But, they have shown the willingness to play every single down with intensity and never give up. Page went 3-1 in these games.
Reagan and East Forsyth had the marbles to schedule homecoming against Page this year. That didn't turn out to be a good idea for them. Page spoils the night twice in Forsyth co.
In their last contest, Page won 20-19 after being down 16, the Pirates came back and beat E Forsyth in a field goal thriller (both teams kicked go-ahead field goals w/ under 2 mins to play).
Last week, Page had a Bye week, they've been getting ready for Northwest Guilford and the start of conference play. They go into NWG looking to defend the Metro 4A crown. With big games coming against improved Ragsdale with RB Maness and High Point Central. Grimsley plays @Page this year for the 2nd time in all of history... rest assured that no one at Page is taking the Whirlies lightly... Go Pirates!
