Have you heard about the circumstances surrounding the reason he was looking for a new job? In addition to that debacle, in which a stronger administration would have fired him altogether, he’s been looking for jobs in the off season on and off. He’s been passed over.
For East Rowan, who is pretty terrible, perhaps a coach whose team has gone 3-8 for the last two years, this is an improvement.
Perhaps with East Rowan being further from his house, he will stay on campus during his planning period and not go home to mow his yard on the county’s dime.
I don’t follow Winston Salem - Davidson Co area that much so
I can't imagine this ending well. They either didn't do their homework, or character doesn't matter there.
That might be the case as well. Last three years have been pretty abysmal at East Rowan. (0-10- 1-9, 1-8). Haven’t had a season over .500 in over a decade.
Wow! So much more than just x's and o's to being a HS coach.... I mean, sure....second chances are sometimes needed...but, you don't want to reach out too far on the limb. This one seems high risk.
Apparently, not a very thorough one, at least at East Rowan. They have had a couple instances in which persons with questionable credentials ended up on staff. One was a baseball coach who ended up on the SO registry after losing his job over "inappropriate relationship" allegations by some female students. In another case, an ER football coach some time back (Mazza?) was let go after it was determined he had falsified his degree.
Haven't scored but six points this year. Defense just as bad if not worse as per usual... Congrats ER, you should have done your homework on this duo of a clown show. And like Forrest said, dats all I got to say about dat...
Idk Coach Flynn nor do I know anything about his past or anything BUT
We have seen in other states and some even in NC that have questionable past or leadership issue still get jobs but I’ll give Coach Flynn the benefit of the doubt at ND in term of When Oak grove open - they took a ton away from ND and we have seen a slight decline at ND since
Now for East Rowan stand point - There no excuse but ER has never had many jimmies and joes to compete but they usually always gotten 3/4 games won and losing 83-0 is gotta be a tough pill to swallow no matter who it is.

On a foozeball note however, if ER is only scoring six points it's because they don't have anything. Flynn is a good offensive coach especially with the passing game so the Jimmies and Joes clearly are not there... as for the defense it wouldn't matter. That's the biggest part of the clown show. ER doesn't have a chance at a good defense unless they get a bunch of transfers or luck out with college football talent somehow in that area...

East Rowan is a tough rebuild they graduated 23 seniors off a winless team. The senior class hasn’t won a game in their career including JV and even back to middle school.

You can't expect much more than you have to date? Tough conference? Limited talent? Why can't you expect more?
East Rowan had to play 2 top 15 3a teams in the state in the same week. That would be tough for anyone.
You probably shouldn’t post things that you don’t have facts about, that is libel and you could be sued for doing that!

ER is another school that seems to be in football purgatory. When was the last time they were good? I know their baseball team is one of the best in the state and just won a state title in the spring. So there are clearly athletes at the school. I realize these are two completely different sports. But it does show there are athletes in the student body and the athletic dept. as a whole is not a clown show.
ER was a regional power in the 60s and 70s under W.A. Cline. His first stint they won the WNCHSAA in 69 and lost in the Piedmont Championship in 70 and 71. They competed for North Piedmont titles into the Mid 70s, then he left for Concord. East and North had a pretty decent rivalry from 67-76 and ER had our number for a few years there, only managing a win in 67 and a tie I believe twice from 68-75 before killing them in 76. His second stint was not as successful and while ER has had some good teams over the years they have been bad almost regularly since Jesse Carson was built, same for South Rowan. Carson took both out of 4A and back down go 2A for a while.
