I agree, Mullet. We wee in control, even after The patriots, who I give all he credit in the world to, took a one point leadOriginally posted by mulletboy83:
gfm4343,
Pender took their only lead at 56-55, before East went on 8-0 run.
I believe the score would have been larger if not for some questionable calls as you know
as well as about four missed layups.
I remember Weldon from last year . Their record is much better than last year but they have only beaten a couple of teams with winning records with Riverside being the biggest win I see they have had. I agree on the seeding place of pender, they had a tough schedule with the Wilmington teams . The foul situation in the Pender game is just the way it has been all season.Originally posted by marinersgold:
First off Pender is a very good and well coached team. No way are they a #25 seed.
IMO the thing that hurt east was foul trouble. East started out with pressure and shot the ball well. They were up 27-12 after one. But in the 2nd Q fouls took its toll. Coach had to move players in and out trying to avoid the 3rd foul on three starters.
East got to the 4th will no one with 4 fouls and turned up the pressure again. That was huge considering east only made one 3 in the 3nd half. Trevor did finally foul out and Ty ended up with 4. The scoring by quarters tells ,when east could apply pressure the difference in scoring, East scored 27-17-11-27.
I'm also surprised that Northside made the regionals but that had a good draw with teams they matched up with. The game against Voyager with 6'9 Bam and 6'10 Huff should be fun to watch.
East will have their hands full with Weldon. East played them last year in the sectional finals. They were very quick and gave East some trouble with their pressure. East have to play well,no more home court.
There should be a huge turn out in Fayetteville. Last year East fans filled one side of the arena.
Good luck Mariners!
Awesome game, and hats off to the team mates of Bam Bam " The Dream " Adebayou . He is a handful that's for sure, somehow playing almost the entire second half with four fouls. Hmmm. Anyhow his team mates stepped it up and they will be the favorite in the east next year if he stays there. Our missed free throws hurt and there seemed to be a lid on the basket in the third . Once again playing back to back hurt our productivity ( and Bam Bam's elbow to Brennan's face didn't help. I thought they call that a flagrant foul these days.hmmm)
We picked it back up in the fourth even though we had to set Ty and Trevor who both had four fouls as well.
Luckily we can have a week off this time to rest a little and heal a few bumps and bruises after playing two very physical , tall and athletic teams , inside oriented teams . Once again. hats off to Welden and Northside, two very good , small town traditional 1A schools .
OK regardless of opinion one way or the other I will admit that was a pretty funny line.I fear that if Prep tried to drive by all the affected
elementary and middle schools, they would run out of gas covering all of
Forsyth county.
