I thought Newton was traveling to East Burke…but I was wrong. Newton had their senior night against Maiden Friday night which lead me astray. I’ll say this….that was a bunch of seniors on Newton’s team. I also noticed that Newton has one of the largest bands you will see….bunch of seniors in that group too!

Good luck to them and I would love to see another CVAC team squeak into the playoffs.

As much as i would love to see NC play another week, it is unlikely NC will be in the playoffs with just 2 wins. We had a great RPI rating but needed to win one of the last 3 to even have a shot. If we were to squeak in we would be heading to Monroe or Reidsville. 12 senior player for Newton graduating, Lots of seniors in the band leaving as well. Way to many to count. But a good group of 8th graders coming in, if they all decided to be in the band.We will find out next Sunday evening regarding playoffs. That's when I do cheer on the rest of the conference to represent, even Maiden...lol

As much as i would love to see NC play another week, it is unlikely NC will be in the playoffs with just 2 wins. We had a great RPI rating but needed to win one of the last 3 to even have a shot. If we were to squeak in we would be heading to Monroe or Reidsville. 12 senior player for Newton graduating, Lots of seniors in the band leaving as well. Way to many to count. After this year’s seeding, I feel like the Maiden guys will be sitting up there pointing in the direction of Lincolnton, and Laughing like a pack of hyenas.

Team plays South Point and East Lincoln each year. Ponies were state champs just two season ago. Two losses are against one loss 3A Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 teams. In the last three playoffs played Monroe and Shelby. I ramble all this to say, the Wolves may be outclassed at some point in the playoffs, but there is no reason to fear or duck any future opponent. I got on a nostalgic kick last night looking at the Wolves record over the last 15 years. Man, the early 2010s the Wolves were playing some darn good dominating football. Unfortunately, the end of the 2010s was just the opposite.

A very entertaining game tonight. #4 was the difference in the game and kept Newton in the game. My hats are off to East Burke's group as they played hard all night long.
