How do HS players know or even think the way to say, "our coaches don't know what they are doing?" Oh, from parents, relatives, fans, etc that don't have any better thing to do than bash coaches instead of looking at the talent or lack thereof that is on the field. Their coaching staff, honestly, is probably one of the most veteran staffs around. Now, the trainer, well, I can't say I disagree on that one...lol...And I'm sure Tom Brown, as good as he was at Maiden, was equally not as good at EB. Do you know why? Well, it wasn't because he forgot how to coach or how he was treating or not treating players, etc. He was a master motivator and could get kids to play a higher level than they ever dreamed, but sometimes even great coaches have nothing to do with the problem. Same thing Bandys is and has been facing for quite some time now. Plus, you throw in the "transfers" that MHS just happened to pick up and BHS would be just fine right now. I think BHS will be fine and finish up on a strong note once everyone is healthy.I do agree with you, partly...but I'm specifically referring to player experiences with how coaching has reacted to the injuries. This from actual players. How is a coach supposed to react to the players that can play? Losing studs is hard, but when you blast the backups and tell them your going to start JV players over them, in my opinion, you're a dumbass. Look up Schofield's Definition of Discipline. When the general feeling from a handful of starters, available and injured, is "our coaches don't know what they are doing" then there is a problem. From my personal perspective there are issues with their staff...one being their "trainer" who is clueless, coaching staff that gets caught up in the game and draws penalties, coaching that doesn't know how to properly execute their next man up.
Yes it is easy to say things from the sideline, but I am no idiot. I've played under the arguably best coach in NC history in Tom Brown, I played college football at The Citadel, coached the flag league there, founded a no pads tackle league in Charlotte that lasted 5 years, I've coached rec league 5 years in Maiden and 2 years in SC. I'm not a genius, but I can clearly see where they've gotten it wrong and I didn't have to sit back with a cigar and ponder on it.
I do, however, hope the best for your nephew as he sounds like a terrific young man and a player. Best wishes on a speedy recovery for him. And best wishes to your Blue Devils in the playoffs as I'm hoping they represent the CVAC with a State Championship.
