Congratulations Maiden! When I got to the game , Maiden scored , the first Qtr was over before 8 pm. By 8:20 real time , the score was 27-0. There was like 4 min left in the 2nd Qtr. I left the only reason to stay would be to watch a good fight. Maiden from what I could tell is getting better and better. I don’t think their defense gets enough credit. West Lincoln ‘s RB Avery looked banged up. At any rate, the Maiden fans that fussed about coach Byrnes not winning in the playoffs can be quiet now. However, unfortunately they host Salisbury next week. That’s a tough task. I want to congratulate West Lincoln and Bunker Hill on having a great season. The West Lincoln coaching staff continues to get a lot out of their kids . It use to be that by early November, the kids in Vale were already cutting weight for wrestling. Coach Reid and the Bears Staff have improved each year since 2018. Did anyone in the area think 4 years ago that Bunker Hill & West Lincoln in the second round of the playoffs? Good luck to Maiden and their fan base . I suspect the Maiden staff will have a great game plan for the Hornets. Have a feeling Coach Byrnes might be calling coach Reid from Bunker this week. On second thought, nah he already knows from last year what is coming to Maiden. I doubt Bunker would offer any advice to Maiden after having the score ran up on them by Culiver, Gibbs, Gore and Hall. All I forgot they had to keep throwing the ball because of RPI rankings.
It's obvious you're no Maiden fan. I don't know why. Somehow, some where, something crawled up your ass and you've decided to take pot shots here and there. Most people here on NCPreps aren't that way, but a few are, and I guess you're one of them.

So I would like to take this opportunity to formally extend an olive branch and invite you to try outs this next spring to be a Maiden fan...and if all goes well we'll let you Transfer in. I'm sure @Maiden Creek and I will be happy to have you on our team. We've got an opening for a starting jackass and you seem to be a great fit. 👍

We have a future! If you could see the 4th quarter of that game, you'd have to have a couple of stiff drinks and a nap to overcome the emotion.
Cheerduck, I'd just like to say how much I was hoping for a Red Tornado victory. Things might be better next year and I know you have the patience to endure it. Hey, I tuned in the HSFB network and viewed some of the game. I told OC, there was a man riding a horse, that's right, an actual horse, out on the field. I thought, "wonder what he's drinking". Turns out, it was a mascot and the rider was a lady, not a man. Boy, it could really go !
You mentioned a couple of stiff drinks and a nap. Really can't help you with the nap, but if I could suggest and only for people our age, laying off your blood pressure pills (provided you take them) on game day, eating a can of wasabi flavored almonds (they're so briny you can barely stand it), I mean eat the entire can, and drinking about a quart of dark roast coffee, the effects will be the same as a couple of stiff drinks, and then some, and you don't risk being charged with a misdemeanor for bringing an alcoholic beverage onto school property, and there's no hangover. Yes, you could have a stroke but hey, isn't that the reason people ride motorcycles, marry crazy women and become parachutist ?

You put a lot of info together in no particular order...but no. My feelings don't get hurt, at all. I was born in 88 and grew up in Bandys district until my mom remarried and we moved to Maiden. I was fortunate to be coached under Tom and Fred is the best D coordinator I've ever been round. I'm still close to Frank and went to school with one of his daughters. Butch and I go to church together. When I moved back home after college I bought a house in Maiden. Live a stone's throw from the old high school where I played. Tons of schools get transfers, sometimes in waves, some never will, and we probably will get a QB from somewhere, we have a great program and one heck of a stud receiver...if you're a young man who can sling it and want what's best for your future, why would you not try to come to Maiden? Surrat kid switched from East Lincoln to Lincolnton, we lost a few lineman around 5 years ago that went to Bandys, we had a star lady athlete transfer out to Bandys. Happens a lot...so when you throw out your jabs it doesn't bother me at all. As far as running up the score....we play our starters for 3 quarters, if we're up enough then we put the backups in for the 4th. Maiden been that way as long as I remember. And you're right...it's not our job to stop us...BH should have been better.

Well transfers happen every where . However it is easier when you have players recruiting other kids players . As far as Sage Surratt goes, he is very respected person . However it did not bring Lincolnton a ring. The problem was that Lincolnton got burned for things like the Devils are doing now. The homegrown kids get offended and then they leave you or quit. Throwing the ball with a 40-13 lead late in the 3rd Qtr and early 4th Qtr is not good. That is what Byrnes did to Bunker with starters in the game. I just wonder if he would have done that had Clark remained head coach at the Hill. It doesn’t matter now bc Sailsbury is coming to town . If I did not have to travel out of town, I would go to that game . I can hear them poor souls like the old days , come on Blue! Btw I take it that you Grizz played with Tommy Henry. I enjoyed watching him play. I wonder what he is doing now.
I did...Tommy was one year behind me. He served some time in jail as an accessory to torturing another kid...technically I think charges were kidnapping and something else. Who knows what he's doing now...I spoke to him while he was locked up and he was remorseful about the whole thing... I wish him peace and a good life. As far as Salisbury goes...we've been waiting since the spring for a chance at redemption.

Our homegrown kids don't get offended. We are a team and family and all who want to join and contribute are welcome with open arms. It's all love when you're a part of the family.

Petey was great, #1 was Tristan Lawing, Tristan is in Prison right now. Petey is in Hickory last I spoke to him. Working and a few kids. TA and Albemarle would've been 01, right before I got there. My freshman year 02. And yes we lost to Brevard my senior year 21-18. Couldn't stop them that last drive...oh the memories. And I agree...social media now makes it way easier...and from what I know the coaches are not that involved until a kid comes to them personally...all else is just talk.

I know for sure that kids get kids . I have a buddy who teaches in Gaston county . He said it’s awful . AAUBasketball, Travel baseball and maybe a training facility does not hurt. All I can say is that if# 20 for Maiden lives in the District then I got some ocean front property in High Shoals. I will say that the coaches are innocent. Now the Local LEA can investigate but I doubt they care too. It won’t matter bc little rural schools like Maiden are disadvantaged against the old city school schools like Shelby, Monroe, Reidsville , Hendersonville , Salisbury etc…. We really need a rural champ and a city champ . I will tell you Salisbury will bear you . Heck if you can just score on the Hornets then that would be an accomplishment.
Idk who #20 is. Salisbury will be tough...and we'll be ready. This team and coaching staff are built different from the spring...that I can promise.

Grizz….you and I both know….I’m the starting jackass! ….and 321 don’t want none of that!!
Gotta feeling …I met 321 earlier this year…maybe?…ain’t sure….but I gotta feeling.

I’ve been a Maiden fan since I was old enough to pick up a crushed milk carton!😜….very few people like Maiden…so I’m use to it! It is…what it is!….

How about those Bears from LR? Have mercy…that was a whipping. Beautiful day of football!,.. good friends…great food (thanks to Cheerduck’s wife) that HB casserole was off the chain good…and good times. Grizz….and anyone that reads this….needs to go back and watch the last qtr of the Hickory game. Cheerduck told me what happened and it’s one of the most incredible stories you could hear! What a finish!…..betting Hickory….will be a handful next year!…anxiously awaiting to see how the Red Tornadoes do!
Thanks! Again! Duck….always enjoy seeing you and talking about football! That’s good stuff!

Just for the record….running up the score…doesn’t help the RPI number…. And yes….Lincolnton did beat Maiden in 1978. Yep!… I was there…watched every painful second of it! Maiden actually started that season of ‘78…1-1-1. Lincolnton whipped us and we tied Newton 6-6. Great memories!

Heck a coach at Lincolnton one time had a kid back in 2008 who transferred at the beginning of the school year . In September the kid was followed from his residence to school. Just so happened that the county AD at the time was a East Lincoln grad . That was who the Wolves played that week
The part I deleted was not necessary and will not be tolerated.

Hey Lincolnton , didn’t the Wolves beat Maiden pretty badly during their one and only football state championship
Yes, 321, we beat them that year. I can't recall the score, though. I was there... I think, they had lost or tied with Newton-Conover earlier that season, but after losing to us they went on a tear, and everybody in this area knows "The rest of that story". We must have made them mad. Coach Brown told the Lincoln Times-News, we were throwing fourth quarter passes with a decisive lead, but S. Goodson, our quarterback rarely passed. We ran a veer offense, then... We would lose out in the first round of the playoffs that year to Crest by 10 points.

It seems like all the games we've played against Maiden, the whole series, has been affected by the adage "What comes around goes around". I used to be pretty quick to remind the Blue Devils posters about the 78 game, but then came 2007. We seemed to stumble over our own feet, then later in the game we got our bearings and took the lead (the 2007 game). Near the end of the game Coach Brown tried a hook and lateral and scored with it. I remember standing there stunned, thinking, "How the heck (It was the other word) did that happen ? That's our play". We lost 26-22, now that one really hurt. Maiden would lose out that year to Newton-Conover in the second round (not sure) of the playoffs.

I heard this word, once, called "Paradox", I'm still not sure what it means or how to use it in a sentence. I saw it on the cover of I think Time Magazine. They called Pope John Paul, II, "The paradoxical pope", but not to digress. Anyway, after we beat them in 78 they went all the way to the championship against a tough Tabor City team and won it with big fat exclamation point !
After Maiden beat us in 2007 we went on to win the title against South Columbus which I believe was originally Tabor City. I remember thinking in 2007 how I wish we could have played Maiden, again, in the playoffs, but that didn't happen. I know at least somebody in Maiden, after the 1978 game, must have wished they could have played Lincolnton, again, later that season. If I ever meet Coach Kevin Wilson I'm going to ask him that.

About the paradox thing, I wonder, if in some strange way, Maiden's loss to us in 78, and our loss to them in 07, had some type of positive effect that contributed to each of us winning a title. Probably not, but I was just thinking about it. The Bible says..."old men will dream dreams", maybe that's what this is.:)

Imma go on record and say….nobody from Maiden wanted to play Lincolnton again in ‘78! They were very very good!
Stan Goodson could fly! I played a lot of softball back in the day! …Church League at Buffalo Shoals Field….gosh…I loved that place. Goodson would dink a routine single into right field and always stretched it into a double. I saw him stretch it to a triple on a few occasions!😜 He was sump’em else!….a paradox. 😂

My friend, I thank you for being noble to us posters whom your team has vanquished, It's a rare quality, but we're only eight miles apart. If I know the Maiden mindset like I think I do, it's not too long after they lose 'til they go to wanting another chance at it. Even though they might not say it and they see all these posters telling them Salisbury will end your season, I got a feeling lots of them in the biggest little football town are thinking BRING IT! I got a feeling that this very day the Blue Devil staff are meeting just for this very reason.💪

I love the banter of Maiden Creek , Lincolnton and Cheerduck . I may be biased but it is guys like this that kept me reading over the years on this board and Carolina prep. I enjoy stirring the pot but I know these guys will never take the bait. Good luck Big Blue . If I were to pull for one team over others , I would like to see Hendersonville win it all. If Maiden wins it all then they deserve it. There are no weak sister teams left . I do not want to upset people but I think truly that the 2A West has a stronger field than the 3-A West. That’s just my opinion, it would be good for high school football to see Hendo at Maiden in the Western Finals . Gosnell vs Rhodes in a passing duel. Unfortunately, playing Reidsville, Shelby , Salisbury and Monroe is like the SEC East. At any rate, that is why we play the games. Just ask Shelby , last year they found out. High School football is the best game in my eyes. Those kids don’t get paid and the coaches make a nickel an hour . I may pick about transfers because it bothers me,. When kids see the college transfer portal happening , those who win or play a certain style will benefit from this generation’s mindset. Look at poor East Gaston, they could have had Taurus Dameron, Chazz and Sage Surratt along with Robert Washington back in 2013-2016 seasons. I will stop bc I’m afraid Grizz and Maiden Creek may request my papers for fan transfer as another Monday morning QB. Shoot if y’all beat Salisbury, I’ll meet you, Lincolnton and Cheerduck at Dons or Brookwood .
My personal picks have us home next week vs Monroe and then home for the western finals vs Hendersonville...crazier things have happened!
