Coldest game your team ever played in?

I am gonna say the week before in 2002 when we played Andrews on a Sunday afternoon semifinal. Field had to be scraped of snow and ice. Stands were piled with snow. Only saving grace was that it was played in the day time. At Harnett Central in ‘96 was a cold and windy one as well, especially up high in the exposed coaches’ box.
Strangest thing about the Harnett Central game: After the game ended we were walking towards the parking lot when some SPRINKLERS went off. Got us soaked before we could get out of the line of fire. Thought I would get pneumonia from that fiasco.

Never could figure out why they were trying to water anything that time of the year.

I believe it was December 1988 my brother and I went to Midway to watch the state championship game as they hosted Swain County. It was about 20 degrees that night and we froze our butts off as Swain County beat Midway.
I think I talked to a guy many years ago who played in this game for Midway...."I saw Heath Shuler give the ball to the fullback; DID YOU HEAR ME???...I SAW, WITH MY OWN EYES, Heath Shuler give the ball to the fullback, so I tackled the fullback, and while I'm laying there after tackling the full back wondering why they haven't blown a whistle I look up and see Heath Shuler running down the field, somehow with the ball" [or something like that....maybe more than once in the game]

Growing up in Gates County, and following the Barons closely until 2004, the coldest game I remember was the 2002 2nd Rd Playoff game at Williamston, that the Tigers won 34-28 in 3OT.....caught a cold that lasted for a week or more....and it might not have seemed so cold had the result been different, Barons had Williamston dead to rights, leading 28-20 in first overtime, 4th & Goal from 10 or further back....and in 2nd OT, 28-28, Barons stop Tigers in 2nd OT and any score wins game, but bad snap on would-be game winning FG, and holder takes off, appears to have a clear path to pylon but slipped in the mud around the 2 or 3 yard line....Roach, Tillman, Bland, and company at Williamston went on to win their 3rd & 4th Rd games by 3 TDs each, before losing in state finals for second straight season, this year to Albemarle 21-16, in one of the few close post-season games for the Blue Dogs in that insane run they had going back then......or maybe it was the 1st Rd Playoff game at eventual state runner up North Edgecombe, NE Warriors won 52-26 but game didn't feel that close, NE scored on first play from scrimmage on a 68 yd run on a toss sweep blocked beautifully, it was 20-0 or 22-0 in 1st qtr, Barons battled back to get some points on the board but couldn't ever stop the Pittman/Knight/Pittman combination in the backfield

South Granville follower from 2005-Present: Again, it might not have seemed as cold had the result been different: Coldest game I remember is probably the 3rd Rd playoff loss at North Davidson in 2017, 35-19 final score in a game that felt much closer, SG trailed 21-13 in 3rd Qtr and scored TD to make it 21-19, went for 2 and got stopped, then SG defense forces punt, SG offense driving in mid-4th Qtr to take the lead and conference player of year on offense & defense breaks one that appeared to put us ahead 25-21 with extra point pending, but one of those yellow rags dropped out of the head linesman's pocket (...drive continued though toward the red zone, eventually SG tries fake FG on a 4th own play where the kicker (who also played some WR & Safety) was going to run the ball, and appeared to have plenty of room to run, but slipped and fell, turnover on downs, ND ball: next play was a 75 or 80 yd TD pass over the top to make it 28-19 with PAT, and they added one more late TD...or maybe it was the Lee Co. game in Week 1 (late February) in the spring season in the 2020-21 school year, in a cold, cold rain, and you could see the grass go from green to brown from series to series as the game went on, Jackets won the game something like 27-6
