North Lenoir hawks memebers of the Eastern Carolina conference.....only common opponent is Southwest Onslow who they lost to 62-33 they also played East Duplin a team we are very familiar with and lost 55-7.........they run out of the wing t and run a 5-2 on defense.......think this should be(Should be) a easy win but its the playoffs gotta come out ready focus cause its win or go home.....Lewis should have the boys ready to go.....My prediction Clinton 56 North Lenior 6

I agree, Clinton can score whatever they want against this team, as their defense is pretty porous, allowing 339 points this season. As far as Clinton's defense, just have to play assignment football against this wing t offense.

They have improved of late but that's in there conference not disrespecting just saying that they didn't have to deal with Wrh east bladen Nside North brunswick should be a good night to check out players that were pulled up

I don't want to see any complancy. Last night offensively I thought the DarkHorses could have played better. I'm not talking about points. The defense played outstanding only giving up 20 yards total offense but this is the playoffs. No one gets anything but total effort for 48 min. by everyone who enters the game.

I agree....Also i love it Jalen Smith runs so hard and tries to pick up all the yards he can but he has gotta keep two hands on that football....it wont hurt us against a team like Union but once we get to the later rounds against good teams those turnovers could be devastating.....i think the biys will be fired up i know they see that potential match up with Bunn in the 3rd round and they are itching for some redemption.....but just gotta take it one game at a time.....lets go 1-0

Their offense failed to move the ball much at all against ED. That lone score came on a busted kick return. Clinton shouldn't have too much trouble here .

Skinner has really turnt it up the last couple games look for that continue.....seems like each year a certain player(s) takes it to another level during the playoffs last year it was Rayquan Faison i seen Nick Cooper do it in 2006 remember Herbert Dixon doing it in 2001....think its Skinners time to show why he so good

We've been in that situation this year and took knees in the first half to keep from making it worse. In many games, our starters were being pulled in the middle of the 2nd qtr. That's why no one in our program has overly impressed numbers

The same holds true for Clinton. We could very easily have three, possibly four backs with over 1,000 yards this year. But now it's a new season. Good luck to the Rams this year!

I'd love to know what some Shelby posters think about this video. Do they see enough talent on our film to even be worthy of stepping on the same field as them.

Honestly, no. I'm saying the same thing going into this season that I said in 2014, and I want you to screenshot this, your offense is too dated for us, it will not get it done versus us or Monroe. We will show you guys that 2014 was not an aberration. We will beat you guys by no less than 17 points. I would seriously bet any of you guys and give you points, since it would be a humble wager on it, I don't have that big money like Wiz does, 14 points.

You guys will not just line up and run the ball against us. Your run game struggled some in the video vs WRH. I know WRH is a perennial power, but best believe their defense isn't as good as ours. You guys have bragged about that no. 40 in addition to Skinner, WRH imposed some serious abuse on him. What do you think Dax Hollifield and company would do to him? We'd want you guys to pass, that is not your team's strength.

I'm meaning no disrespect, seriously. I am no sandbagger, I just give my honest opinion, straight, no chaser. The 2AA state championship will be decided in the West.

Kris Williams was something like 6 for 7 passing against Wallace for 160+ yards and 2 TD's, you can't call it a balanced offense but hopefully we'll wise up and spin the bean some if someone actually stops our run. Also the spread option with #5 at qb is a nice look. 5 is the backup qb and can throw it as well as run the ball, if someone stops the run we have a few tricks up our sleeve

Just what I was wondering. Thanks.

You're not comfortable passing, though. Your running game is your bread and butter, and that plays right into the strength of our defense. We're battletested for your offense. South Point, AC Reynolds, and Freedom all tried to run straight at us w/ no success. South Point and AC Reynolds are contenders in their respective 3A divisions. You'd better have balance vs us, and not depend on trick plays, have some real genuine balanced offense.

I hope this game happens. Some of you blame Skinner's injury on costing y'all that game in 2014, which is ridiculous. You guys were dominated! Our running back, Chad Reid, had a 196 yards rushing that game. I'm not a member of Carolina Preps at the moment, but I did see where some clown, Dog79, a WRH fan, adamantly said Skinner's injury caused y'all that game. You guys really think this young man is superman. He's a great player, but we have athletes at Shelby.

I'm out, though, don't want to hijack this thread, a poster wondered, he got a response. Good luck to both teams. Both teams have business to handle, first and foremost.

Just the kind of response I expected from Lion Attack. You're too hung up on 2014.
IT'S 2016! A whole different team, a much better team. A 6 time state championship Hall of Fame Coach (that runs that too dated offense). You say the DarkHorses haven't a chance. I beg to differ .I'm telling you remember 1997, yes I'm hung up on that when you guys said the DarkHorse's had no chance. There's a lot of football left to be played before such a match-up materializes. But I'd caution you if it does, don't bet too much money on it that close to Christmas!! My last post on it until the match-up materializes.

Anyone who thinks we were not over matched in 2014 is kidding themselves. A healthy skinner can't win it by himself. I do feel our line on both sides are better than 14' but it may not make a difference. Who knows. Time will tell.

DarkHorse04, I completely agree with you but anyone who thinks this 2016 DarkHorse team is comparable to the 2014 team is kidding themselves as welll. In 2014 it was basically the Raheem Skinner show. The DarkHorses still have Skinner as a senior but so much more plus no one ever mentions defense. Was it mentioned the DarkHorse's have the top scoring defense in the state.

Missed the last couple home games due to work happy ill be back in my seat watching some playoff football at DH Stadium....GO HORSES!!!!!!!

Wiz I totally agree, this years team in my opinion is at least better defensively than the 2014 team. Offensively this year we have a true FB in this system and I believe Clause to have really improved his passing from last year (He didn't play in 14'). I still think we are thin in the secondary and haven't met a true spread team that can sling it. Especially after losing a starting DB, so now we are even thinner. But, I think we will hold our own vs anyone. The thing that will potential threaten us is a team that can run and pass. In 14' we tried to take away the pass and they gashed us on the ground. In 2006' vs Cummings in WS when they had Dwight Jones at WR they ran spread, we tried to take away the pass and they gashed us on the ground because we stayed in Nickel and Dime the whole time preparing for an air show. Point being, If this defense can defend the pass without sacrificing the run defense, we are truly one the best defenses Clinton has had imo.

Offensively we are who we are. Run first, Run second, pass third (if we have to) but unlike years past, we are completing passes and not just in must pass situations. But we have only thrown it like 40 times. Those west teams face teams that throw it that much in one game, then the next week they face teams that run it that many times in one game. Balance is where it has to be to be great on offense and while I don't think we are their yet, we are as close as I've seen us be in terms of capability to pass whenever we want to not just when we have too.

Well I don't know, the pass defense is as good as the Horse's have had in many years, we have like 16 or 17 interceptions maybe more. I know Kris has 7 and in my opinion the best pass defense is a strong rush in Prentice Murphy and Michael Kramer, and Skinner playing defense as well as others can dish that out. Hard to throw accurately when you're running for your life! Ask Louisville's Jackson after last night's game. And then the best defense is just keeping possession of the football and play ball control. Shorten the game and limit possessions Bob Lewis style. I don't care whether they're running the spread or the XYZ.
As far as passing the DarkHorses have passed more this year than in several years combined with a very high completion rate. Who would have thought at WRH 3rd and 3 on the WRH 30 and Kris passes to the endzone. Anyone that thinks the DarkHorse's can't or won't pass will be very surprised. Ask WRH. When all is said and done it comes down to basic football fundamentals. The DarkHorses are going to be alright.

Who did we lose in the secondary? I noticed Jamarian Smith didnt play against Union but the JV kid #15 performed well

Heard Jamarian smith family had to move out of district. He is gone. Sad, he has had a great year, but family is more important than football.

@Wizard of the East, I'm not hung up on 2014, I hung up on philosophy, scheme. When is the last time you saw a team in college football win the national championship, running the type of offense you guys run? You ever see Georgia Tech or the service teams challenge for a national championship? Heck, look around on the high school level, outside of 1A ball, you see any state champs, w/ the exception of Charlotte Catholic, running that type of offense? It doesn't get the job done anymore. It only utilizes your athletes that are in the backfield, you have athletes at receiver, you have athletes in general who are basically decoys, being wasted, because it's all about that backfield. This is why I appreciate our coach Lance Ware so much. He came and modernized the offense, there's no more wastage of athletes, no more running fullback dive on 3rd and 15, no more trying to comeback on good teams once we are down to them. Like a Clinton, we don't have a shortage of athletes at Shelby, and they all get utilize in The Spread Offense, not being reduced to only the backfield.

As far as your super D and so called state leader in whatever, you guys have Reidsville Syndrome, you're a big fish in a small pond out east. You're not being challenged. When a 1A team, a team smaller in classification, is your toughest opponent every season, you're in trouble whenever you face the likes of Shelby, Monroe, East Lincoln, etc.

That sucks about Jamarian he was a great addition i know Coach hated to see him go....we got some athletes that moved up on a JV team that had a good year like i said #15 filled in well last week

Pretty sure HPA won a 2AA title with a running offense what 2-3 years ago....its not impossible....i love how the west guys just believe they are so far advanced cause they run spread....We do what we do and we do it well....Coach Lewis has mixed it up this year pro formation Ace spread shotgun read option.....im pretty sure if the match up happens Lewis and staff will look at the film from 2014 and have something ready.....think im start screen shoting some of these comments for the boys.....plenty of bulletin board material

Not sure if its complacency or just simple rust.....i know its early but we play like this against a better team i.e East Duplin or Bunn we wont have to worry bout Shelby cause we will be playing basketball

Boys out here sleep walking.....Kris Williams did get his 8th pick of the year....offense looks sloppy fumbled the opening kickoff....didnt really move the ball much on the 2nd drive either

Really sloppy NL just ran a long TD run.....team just looks out of sorts right now hopefully that was a wake up call.....NL 7 Clinton 0 4:48......better wake up and play ball

Another turnover miscommunication and we are all outta sorts right now have not seen offense look this bad in a long time.....gotta wonder if Jaylen Smith suspension is effecting the offense
