Clinton @ HP Andrews RD 3

i tried to tell the SWO fans several times that when Coach Padgett retired that their program would take a major hit and they would see way more "rainy" days on the football field. the same way Clinton did when Coach Lewis retired for a stint. of course some of their fans denied this and assumed that they would just continue their winning ways without any trouble. that wasnt a knock on their program. SWO has one of the best football programs in the state. it was just due credit being given to the legendary Coach Padgett. truly great coaches are a rarity and all other things being equal, you could take a great coach and have much more success with a team than a mediocre coach would have with the exact same players.

How is Clinton defense? Strength and weakness?

Defense has been very solid...the mist we gave up this season was the 28 against Wallace Rose-Hill....#88 and #23 are probably are most aggressive players they really get after it when #23 blitz he cause havoc in the backfield especially if its a slow developing play watched him tackle the QB and the RB on a read option play brought them both down...secondary is fast covers well any errand pass will probably get picked off...I feel we do better against a standard run based offense like the wing t

Distance I watched some of you guys highlights on hudl y'all run it very well we will definetly have to be extremely discipline....... Changed my prediction this may be a grind it out 3 yards and a cloud of dust type game

All I did was give my opinion on a score , you made yours. I was 20 points off. you gave yours, you were about ten points off. Now I a was Ignorant, and you are so intelligent. You may have went to Duke, but that don't make you know everyting

Hold on a second HarryT! You are confusing Distance and me. He's a stone cold UNC fan

I know you and was in school with your son and daughter. You are a great fan and I know your heart is in the right place. I have no beef with you. I just wish you didn't trash talk

I missed that one. Shame on you Harry for calling me a Dookie. I'm a Tar Heel through and through.

This will most likely be a close game. I don't see anyone pulling away unless HPA can pass well(if they can they could only win as big as a 24-7 game maybe). Clinton has usually been hard for most 2A teams to run on. You can't just run on them and control the game. Highly unlikely to beat them on the ground without a fight to the last second. That said these are the best 2 teams in 2A/2AA east.

Its been a great football weekend Clinton won Friday night....UNC pull it out and clinched a berth in the ACC championship game...and just got done watching the Panthers literally destroy the Redskins.....hope next week is just as good

Clinton in a tight one. Hear is my thinking Clinton has been preparing for a state title game in 2a not 2aa. Once they were placed 2aa everyone just forgot that this is the creme of the crop in 2a. Andrews has been winning and I give credit, but Clinton is a State champion caliber team. R. Skinner is an "elite" RB. B. Lewis is a HOF coach....

I know most Clinton supporters probably would not agree but this just my opinion I think Skinner should be playing defense as well at LB beside Faison...I kno everyone is scared of a injury or fatigue but Faison does it Tyion Wright does it....Go back in history a lot of Clinton greats did it Leonard Henry Herbert Dixon etc etc......I remember watching him on JV he was just as good at LB as he was carrying the ball....just my opinion think it would put the defense on another level.....ask Wallace Rose-Hill fans how much stronger their D is when they play #8 both ways....like I said just my opinion guys don't bite my head off lol

Nick Cooper, Clinton's all time leading rusher never played defense. I think its up to the player. Skinner played LB as a jv. He was on this past weeks kickoff coverage. There's a reason he's not playing defense that you nor I know but I trust our legendary (to be HOF) coach in his judgement/reasoning as to who plays when and where. I'm quite sure there's not any personnel configurations he hasn't considered.

OK as an outsider looking in on this game only because the remaining member of the PAC 6 is involved here is my unbiased? opinion plus a few facts. Andrews rushes for 358.3 yds per game. Clinton 347.6. Andrews passes for 58.4 yds per game. Clinton 51.5. Andrews has 66 TDs on year. Clinton 71. Andrews 42.5 sacks on year. Clinton 16.0. Andrews 12 INTs. Clinton 7. Andrews #1 seed vs Clinton #4 at home.

So all that being said looks like it will be a grind it out type of game. I realize Andrews played against the woeful PAC 6 conference that everybody brought up last week not preparing them to beat a team from down east or the playoffs. That reasoning did not hold up. Also Andrews only loss this year was to 4A Southwest Guilford which made it to 2nd round of playoffs. Clinton also lost to a 4A Hoggard team that lost in 2nd round as well as losing to 1AA Wallace Rose Hill. I missed score last week by 4 points. Believe it will be very close but with Andrews at home I give them the edge 24-20.

That 1AA team you wouldn't want to play, defending 1AA champion and they will win it again
It will be a very competitive game

Like i said it was just a opinion...Cooper never played both sides cause we needed him to carry the ball 30+ times a game.... The 24 carries Skinner got last week was probably the most I seen him get in a game....but like I said just a thought it would be interesting to witness the havoc him and Rayquan could create in the opposing teams backfield

One thing I noticed it did not appear that Northside brought many fans/supporters. With it being Thanksiving Friday, Clinton fans will travel. I'm not saying that big visitors side bleacher will be full but there will be too many to count. Othe years, I've seen some away thanksgiving Friday games and one may wonder who's the home crowd . Just saying..... I

like I said I'm sure Couch Lewis has it covered and has a plan in place.Personally I like the defense the way they are and they've done very well getting overshadowed by the offensive firepower. I go by the theory if it ain't broke don't fix it and going into the 3rd round of the playoffs I don't think it's broke.

Tootall I know you. I thought he went to Duke also. I am always going to give my opinion though.

Andrews has 2 platooned for as long as I can remember. Similar to the Skinner situation, they will play a kid both ways if they have to in spots, but I can't think of the last Andrews player that started on both sides of the ball. Even when we had NFL players recently like Marcus Gilchrist, and Tony Washington. Gilchrist started in the defensive secondary and played receiver and slot on offense in spurts, but never consistently. Washington played secondary as a young guy then moved over to WR and rarely played a down of defense again. We've also had some big guys across the line in years past that could have been a force on the opposite side of the ball but never played a down on the other side. At places like Clinton and Andrews, it's easier to have enough quality kids to not have to play a ton of kids both ways. I know some schools down the road in Davidson County, they will have 7 or 8 kids every year that start on both sides and special teams.

I'm disappointed in GoNtheDistance if he went to Duke and pulls for the tarheels. lol

Wiz, I would expect nothing less than a huge contingent from our friends from Sampson County. The level of community support you have is awesome! I think we will have a good crowd overall plus we have a secret weapon to offset any opposing crowd....our band will have AJ rocking on Friday night.

I played football at Duke. HarryT was confusing Distance and me. For the record, if the tarholes were playing the ISIS-Al Queida All-Stars I still wouldn't pull for those wearing that sissy shade of blue!

Need to talk some sense into Distance

Finally caught TWA the other night. Man, they looked like a red Sherman tank going down the field on O. Counted at least five decent, powerful running backs. Clinton will have to battle the Red Raiders AND the mudpit Friday.

If you're looking for some good wings before the game, head to Blue Rock Tavern. I was ready to nominate GoNtheDistance for president after that recommendation.

Come on now Dookies. 4 L's in a row on the gridiron for the Blue Devils. My Heels are playing well and making me proud, after many years of futility.

Chute is right. Anybody looking for a good, non-chain type restaurant before the game, head over to Blue Rock Pizza and Tap before for pizza, wings and beer. Great place, great food, great atmosphere. I know some folks a few years ago from Washington, North Brunswick and Northside enjoyed it as well. 1529 N Main St in High Point is the address. It's only about 5 minutes from the stadium so you can enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. If you are looking for chain restaurants, you can head to Chili's, Ham's (Hwy 68), Longhorn Steakhouse, or Liberty Steakhouse (great food). We also have you run of the mill fast food chains like Chick Fila, Wendy's, Bojanges, Arby's, Hardees, Taco Bell, etc all over town. If you want BBQ, try Carter Brother's on N Main St. There's also a location off Hwy 68 for those folks coming off 40. Good local spot. All restaurants above are 5 minute rides to the stadium, with Ham's being about 15 minutes because of traffic.

I think I warned of the field conditions in a previous post above, if not, be warned like Chute said. Simeon Stadium is one of the nicer stadiums in all of North Carolina. However, it is a shared facility primarily between HP Andrews and HP Central, along with 3 middle schools in High Point. As you all know, it rained all over the state for damn near a month straight in September-October which put a beating on the usually beautiful sod of Simeon Stadium. When a lot of schools were cancelling or rescheduling games to later dates, local schools using the facility did not. They played many games in the downpours like they should have because it's football, and frankly, it has wore the grass slap out. Now that it's cold, the benefits of the sun and irrigation system are long gone. Over the last few weeks, it's been slip n slide, for both teams with mud being pretty heavy in the center third of the field. Truthfully, the field conditions actually hurt Andrews because our speed is usually superior to almost all our opponents for much of the season. Regardless, the good and the bad is that it will affect both teams come Friday night. Each team will lose a play or 2 here or there that could have been big. On the other side, each team will gain a free tackle or two in the open field that they may/may not have made. Luckily, we have a stable of about 5 kids that can run the ball effectively in various situations. 2 of which have run for 1,000 yards and another 3 that are between 500-750 yards this season. My Red Raider buddy on here, TooTall4Yall, used the best analogy to describe our offense. It's a lot like a prize fighter that absolutely wears you down over the course of 12 rounds with body shot after body shot. It's got a good combination of flash/speed and toughness to run between the tackles. From what I've seen and heard, Clinton will bring just as much if not more to Simeon Stadium on Friday Night. Here's hoping for a hard fought, well played, injury free contest between 2 of the best programs in the state of NC who haven't met ever I believe.

No to my knowledge the Red Raiders and the DarkHorses have never played each other before. The DarkHorses did play at Esstern Randolph from your conference I believe during the playoffs last year.

Hope the boys have a great week of practice preparation means a lot in a game like this.......I expect Bob Lewis to put everything on the table Friday night.... No disrespect to ED or Bunn but I firmly believe the winner of this match up goes to rep the East at State

So HPA does not have anyone going both ways???.....Like RWTW mentioned above Clinton has a handful of key guys playing both sides of the ball....Going to have to dig deep especially if its close in the 4th

Andrews does not have anybody that starts on both sides of the ball, or plays significantly on both sides. They have a few kids that start on defense that are option 5 or 6 in the backfield that may get a carry here or there. Those same skill guys also may line up at receiver from time to time. There's 1 offensive lineman in particular that doesn't start on defense but I have seen in goal line/short yardage situations. This late in the year everybody is pretty well conditioned and used to their responsibilities. I dont think Andrews playing 2 platoon and Clinton playing some kids both ways will be that big of an advantage/disadvantage. Given the similarity in style of play, the team with the least mistakes (penalties and to's) wins this game in my opinion and that's what scares me. Andrews has routinely been heavily penalized throughout the year. Recently, they have also put the ball on the ground some, such as last week when they lost 2 fumbles inside the Northside 5 yard line that left 14 more points off the board. Wet conditions aren't an excuse. We have to be better this week if we want to beat a team as good as Clinton. I also agree that the 2 best teams in the east are playing this week. Doesn't mean it's a free ticket to the state championship game but the team who prevails will definitely have the upper hand heading into the regional final.

This should be one of the top games in the state this weekend......Both deserve to be there.....and just to be playing on Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most rewarding things in any teams history.Win on this night and you are 2 games away from the biggest prize in their young lives......BEEN THERE.......9 times with Cummings and won some and lost some....have history with both Clinton and Andrews over the years with huge wins and heartbreaking loses to both......just hope that no one gets hurt have safe travels to and back home .........have met folks from both schools and think highly of all of them Good luck to both teams......play every play like it is your last high school game......as one team it will be.....picking no team to win....it will be decided on the field!!!!

Always enjoy those videos....still hate I can't be there Friday hope for a injury free game Happy Thanksgiving
