Clinton coach

I tell you what, Clinton Football is a bevy of activity, always something going on.

No visitors at practice, "official" Facebook and Twitter pages, recruiting allegations, The U, 910 All-Stars, camps, snazzy slogans, assistant coaches coming and going, #34, The Wiz, coach feuding with the radio guy and now Coach being "forced to resign" and escorted off campus.

I have no clue who the next guy will be, but it will sure be hard to beat the excitement of the last 5 years.

Tradition may not graduate but seems it might have gotten a GED at CHS.

He may find out that there is more to it in South Carolina than making more money. They will expect to win big and do it now. Some of the other coaches that tried that didn’t fare to well. He had a great program going at Clinton. Could be hard to duplicate somewhere else. Those at Clinton need to be careful not to let the drama surrounding a coach leaving for more money to cause more harm to the program that is still there.

Seems to me there has been "drama" in one area or another since Johnson was hired.

I suspect a good portion of the Clinton community are ready for a return to normalcy and the business of having a very successful football program without all the noise from the past few years.

All sizzle and no substance wears out after a while.

The other coaches didn’t fair well because they didn’t put in the work to make it happen and that’s facts …same kids at mc that’s at Scotland and Dillon …they just need a coach to coach them up…MC has always had the athletes but the kids just didn’t come out and play for them ..as long as he shows improvement they wont expect him to “win big and win now”

“He dumped us ..he sucks” crowd is finally showing up. The same crowd in Raleigh back in December waving those towels

I really don’t like high school coaches being able to take kids from one school to another. I guess it’s the times we live in. Greed. Parents/grandparents desperate for the almighty dollar.

Couple more he's trying to get to go. Once he gets done there and has his "CAMPS" y'all will be OK. That's where he gets his recruits from. Schools around there better be careful who they let go to them

Never waved a towel for anyone a day in my life. Not from Clinton and have no family in Clinton.

What I have done is interacted with the Bobby Robinson's, the Bob Lewis' and other Clinton coaches from all sports for a very long time. What I can say without a doubt and what no one can argue, is there has never, ever been this much pure drama during a coaching tenure at that high school, even during subpar seasons.

Clinton won regional and state titles long before Johnson and will be in the hunt long after he is elsewhere.

Funny before it became “official” I never heard or read anything negative about this man. Nothing .this post has been up for weeks and the only negative ones have popped up the last 2 days …got any of these “anti” Johnson post from earlier in the year? I’ll wait

Just my opinion but I think Clinton will be in better shape without him. That program will have no problem pulling in a good coach. As a fan I love going to that area of the state to watch hsfb. There is so much talent and the fans around there are much more passionate about hsfb. Clinton has a top notch facility and a loyal fan base. Heck who knows, the Darkhorses may be even better this year.

Obviously you haven't been paying attention. This dude is full of drama and distractions. He's getting ready to create a s***storm in Marlboro County. I give him three years tops before they figure him out and ask him to pack his 🎒.

Bob Lewis' son will be the next coach at Clinton. His previous football records are questionable at schools that really didn't focus on football. Maybe he have some great assistant coaches to help him be a successful coach

If, and again I emphasize “if” these guys end up on the same staff, next logical progression down the road could be a small college program like Newberry, St, Andrews, Catawba, etc. Again I have no knowledge of what Johnson & Co’s ultimate coaching goals are anywhere between h.s. lifer’s and the NFL, but as long as you’re totally engaged at each step along the way and upfront/honest with the folks who hired you I.e. both sides understand the relationship, then any change in employment should be closed with “thanks for the great opportunity/ thanks for your time with us”. Not getting that vibe at least from this message board in how things ended up in Clinton, but maybe that’s down the road when everything’s officially wrapped up.

St Andrews pays way less than Marlboro County. That isn't logical at all

I like Rocky. I will ask if his name wasn't Lewis, would he be considered. If it comes to fruition, this will be the best situation he has had. For his sake, I hope it goes well. Clinton would love nothing more than to see him be successful.

He will be announced as HC at another school this upcoming week and it's not Clinton.

really? Did you factor in 180 day work year with literally every holiday off…..I think some teachers def deserve more but not all. I gurantee you a head football coach at a successful high school works harder than any teacher at that school. With a Laughable supplement
