CCC week 5

It was 17-0 at half with another TD called back. ND qb had jitters in his first start, time will tell on him.

It was a bit of both, East D did their best to carry their terrible offense but North is not as good either. Which happens sometimes when you lose your starting qb and have to break a new one in.

North plays SR and WD before playing Tville. THAT is the game that will test how good North is now.

That kid didn’t have no Jitters. Not a good excuse to use. We talking about a kid that was a starter and all conference QB just last year. Also heard ED caught some bad breaks. North is just down. And may be that way for awhile. No more running the score up on folks anymore in Welcome.

ND may soon be regretting rushing 10 guys to block a punt, throwing long TD’s up 40 at half, taking cheap shots on interceptions and returns and running the score up on the other area schools.

Probably. I don't think you'll see any denial from ND posters on here, it has been well documented how undisciplined the team has been the last few years. And with losing a third of student enrollment, they don't have the talent to play that way anymore.

Oak Grove is probably going to get bit in the butt at some point due to their lack of a kicking game. But the good news is that the coaching staff is well aware of it and is very capable of making adjustments to minimize that weakness.

OG had a big tall kid #90 kicking off last night. He doesn't have a real strong leg, but was getting it to the 20 or so. That is some improvement from what we saw against ND. I think maybe Holcomb was smart enough not to kick to Dalton or Everhart around the 20. That could have gotten ugly quickly.

OG just looked really solid last night in all phases except the kicking game. Unlike ND, they just seem very businesslike in their approach. In addition to Shewcow, the Blair kid, #20 was really impressive in the backfield and the slot. He's just a sophomore, but he's got some wheels on him and doesn't mind contact. The QB isn't spectacular but makes good decisions, good throws and is a very capable runner when he needs to be.

I think beating ND gave them a signature win that they needed for confidence and they are going to keep getting better. I doubt they go unbeaten, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

That's Holcomb for you! I was not surprised when he opened the game with a long pass against ND. He has always been calculating and known for a trick play or ballsy call when you expect him to play it close to the vest.

Speaking from being a retired military veteran and also having coached football in the past, there are some people that would look at being undisciplined as a direct reflection of leadership.

Same. Semper Fi and Oorah. Having an impact on a kids life is the most rewarding thing ever.

They are definitely lead by a jerk of a coach! But he’s not the same lil cocky punk in interviews as he was the past two years. He’s no longer playing with Holcomb players.

OG is your typical blue collar, lunch pail type team. They don’t overwhelm you with how they look or their athleticism but they have enough juice to wear you out over 48 minutes. Great group of coaches and kids.

Very true. No one on this team stands out or just look like a Ball player. Only kid I think of is the LB #5
