71st is very similar to vance in terms of talent and unpredictability. The TB is very good. He is small but extremely quick and can read blocks and make d1 cuts. The qb is a freshman. He is very talented but the catholic d will be his biggest challenge to date. Defensively, the DE #1 is a big time player along with the safety #7. They will look to crowd the box and take their chances with Catholic passing the ball. Coach McLaurin is a very good coach and will have his kids ready just not sure they will be able to move the ball.

21-7 Catholic

CaTHoLic hAs great cOAching and will Give 71dt Offense fits ... UDerWood might gEt His 100 yArds, but it's Going To be Tough. CathOlic by 2 TDs

I expect CC to win by multiple scores not that I know anything about
either team. But I could deal with a Falcon win also but that would take
a possible 1 vs 3 matchup away from those that want to see it.
I guess we'll know about 10 pm Friday evening..

No way in hell 71st wins this one. CC will stack the box and put pressure on the young QB. CC rushing attack will be too much, Cougs prevail in this one.

The 71st QB is not in the same class as the Vance QB. Both are athletic and can run but the Vance QB can flat throw the ball. He looks like a D1 type QB. 71st is too one dementioinal to be effective against one of the best defenses in the 4A. CC should win handily.

he is not the same class nor should he be hell he is 14 or just turned 15. He will struggle friday i'm sure but i wouldn't sleep on him.

He is a fine QB and has a bright future. As for now I just don't see him doing much against a very good defense.Vance managed 133 yards on offense, and Kingsley Ifedi completed 8-of-15 passes 75 yards. I could see 71st getting shut out.

vance qb is a junior at age 14/15. You have got to be making that up.
I think that right. Last year I saw him on the side lines against AL Brown and one of the coaches was telling how good they thought he would be for them the next 2 seasons. He looks to be 6'3 or so and a great arm.

oh i know he is good he ate RC alive last year as a soph but i'm just questioning the age because if he is 14 or 15 then that means he was 13 or 14 last year. really? AMAZING - can someone verify.

I don't think Ifedi played vs Richmond last year. Anyways, if 71st cannot pass the ball Catholic may very well pitch their 6th shutout of the season. The strength of the CC D is stopping the run, but as show vs Vance they can stop the pass too now.

Lol @ Vance stopped themselves passing..as seen when brand put it in the air the boys came down with the ball. I love brand but he tries to get to creative but u have a number of D1 receivers vs a sub par Catholic secretary..but u try draws and screens vs Catholics strength (front 7) smh. Like I told everyone..after that fumbled snap..we deserve to lose..no way should we win this game playing so poor to a well coached team.

Then whomever that kid was he was a beast but I could have been mistaken because they lost essentially on the last play of the game and the qb accounted for over 400 yds and they kept saying he would be back next year.

Omar baker..graduated c/o 14.. Kingsley ifedi is the qb now..great talent but brand comes off too hard on the kid..he needs to let the kid do him sometimes n quit micromanaging

Vance had no business losing that game. The XP should've been made and they should've won, but I guess the football gods per say had other plans.
Vance will be back though. Ifedi has great potential that is for sure!! Amazing to think Vance could have 1 loss right now because outside of AL Brown all their losses were by 7 points or less!

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Vance has all the pieces but they are missing something. I know they have played a brutal scd but this team has all the talent and there no way they should have lost as much as they did this year.

After watching some film it looks like 71st STs are a bit shaky. If they are Catholic will take advantage of that. The CC returners Anderson and Morrero are fast and have excellent vision.
Once opening and they are gone. I think Catholic will create a couple turnovers and win this one by 14-21 points. Maybe a TD or two late in the 4th to stretch the score a bit.
Should be a fun night! Hey 704CougarsDad just letting you know your boys played very well and fought till the end. I hope you're proud of them.

Can't imagine CC having much trouble this week. 71st is good, they've beat who they were supposed to and have not when they were not.
But anything can happen on a Friday night.;):):):):)

Anything can happen on a Friday night....I think that is North Davidson's motto right now ;)

Game night! Keffer Stadium is ready, gotta ask locals, will 71st bring a crowd or will it be another night where CC fans sit on the visitor side with no problem?

I gotta say 71st was tough! They brought it for all four quarters and never gave in. Was very impressed with their composure throughout the game regardless of how the game was going. They stayed steady and were disciplined and almost pulled it out.
They key for Catholic was their special teams and defense. I cannot tell you how many TFLs Catholic had, but it seemed everytime 71st had the ball there were 2 if not 3 TFLs on the drive.
Catholic blocked a 71st punt deep in their own territory which set up the 1st CC FG to cut the 71st lead to 7-3.
Catholic also tackled the 71st holder on a bad snap on the XP of 71st late TD to keep the score tied at 13. I think that was the catalyst for Catholic to drive down and get the go ahead TD, It just gave them that fire.
All in all, it has been survive and advance for the Cougars and they have done it for 2 weeks now.
Think about this: For the 6th straight year, and the 13th in last 14 years the Cougars are playing football the day after Thanksgiving. The last time they were not was 2009, and before that 2001. Excellence.
