maybe we can absorb the Albemarle kids at WM.... you guys are only 20 minutes or so away.... our numbers would be 650. good enough for a four year run in 1AA.

I agree. Jack basically coached the entire team when he was at AHS. Every coach has a different style. And yes I can see where being away and could allow you to look at the defense/offense unless you were uptop. So many people gave him hell for sitting up top, I dont blame him for coming down.
Not to keep harking back to the past, but surprising to me that only the HC is a school employee. Years ago there were seven or eight assistants and they were all teachers or got paid by the school. Heck, even the athletic trainer taught science. Is this just not in the budget anymore or are there no teaching positions open or what? Major respect to these coaches for stepping up to do the job.
Wes Herlocker is an assistant coach and teaches at the school also. Having volunteer coaches who aren't teaching is a lot more common now than in past years and it probably has a lot to do with what they pay coaches now especially in Stanly County.
I agree with you on this post and I know the school board is behind this just like they were with moving the West Montgomery game to 4:30 and saying the Albemarle Police was behind that move. They will do anything they can to make the school look bad to the so they can use it to justify closing the school. They should have never consolidated with the county school system but you can thank your county commissioners for that. Just as information one of the former commissioners who was behind that move is now running for City Council as an at large candidate. Just remember that on election day.
Dogs9- as an outsider looking in that's exactly what it looks like! It looks like Albemarle High School has been set up to fail!! I just don't understand how a school with such a rich history can be so easily destroyed from within, or atleast from behind closed doors. I hope things work out and they keep it going.
I love the unbridled optimism. Maybe they can keep that momentum going for 7-8 years and relief will be on way with your D1 and D2 teams. Hang in there between now and then! 
Look for Albemarle to have about 50 players on the field tomorrow. Still won't be enough to beat a veteran North Stanly team.
@WMFootballFanatic ha! I can say the same here. The group you guys have had the past 4 years up to now is the same group of kids Callicutt spoke so highly of 3-4 years ago. It took you guys the same amount of time

@spiketomandjerry4 I wouldn't buy into to much of what those coaches tell you. But if it true that Smith made the decision and not "Kellogg Flakes", then I take my statement back about him not having any guts. Lets see if he has the guts to throw that ball and run 26 power tomorrow.

Maybe some WM fans can answer this but I understand NS might be open to the passing game. If so and since we can't seem to run the ball against anybody throw the hell out of it Smith. What have we got to lose.
We will get a steady dose of Williams and Brewer all night. In fact Brewer scares me more than Williams with his speed.
That Brewer kid is way more athletic than Williams. He moved the ball well against WM last year but they kept calling on Williams. That #41 CJ Harris is a wildman! Hes the best LB Ive seen this year thats not in a WM jersey!!
Yes, we scored 2 or 3 times passing it Buddy. I was not really impressed with their defense. I'm a big Brewer fan. That kid has some talent on offense. I will go ahead and tell you, you are going to struggle with him. I'm not saying he is the best I've ever seen or anything crazy like that, but WM would find a spot on the field for him if he lived in Mount Gilead. And we have a bunch of talented kids too.
Smith should have it too bad tomorrow. He will have a team full of freshman and sophomores and a sprinkle of juniors. If he can't get a control of them then I can't tell you what the issue is.
Going back to saying that the group of kids where hard to coach since little league, I'm still not buying that. But honestly, these kids haven't had a real coach since Baxter and a coach that they respected since Atkins. The past Smith let things get a little out of control and it has carried over. And because the current Smith came it with that 1950's offense, it just made things even worse. Going along with the issues within the student body. What a cluster F'k of things. But trust me, we are on our way back to the top. Smith needs to buckle down and get it through that Skull of his and he'll win a State Championship in 3 years.

Tucker, if South and Albemarle Merger You can pretty much count West to be the bottom Team in the County. I'm not being mean but that would be a fast Team
This has been a Year for Our County Teams and some out of County Teams to come down on Albemarle. How can these Schools laugh now when They have so many losses to Albemarle
@sway1532, I double checked and Smith was the ring leader in this opperation. I also heard that the team had a protest at the front of the school and demanded that Coach Smith let the kids back on or they would quit. @Buddy Rich and @sway1532 I am curious as to what offense you want to run and what players are at each position.
Spread option with bird at QB Emery at RB TB at H Back. Bird at WR as well now. LOL

Any kind of spread offense where the defense can't continue to put 8 or 9 in the box and stuff our running game. Also try and throw the ball more.
