This has to be the dumbest comment today. A Steelers fan can say "Got 6", but a Bulldog fan has to keep his/her mouth shut? lmao!
"Got 6" if you count the 1956(or whatever) championship...#ClapBackStrong...
I don't see any football team from Stanly County sniffing a football championship anytime soon. I also do not see Albemarle having a winning season for the next few years.
When parents are refusing to send their kids to a high school because of security/safety issues, you have a problem. A once proud school has really slipped in every form and fashion.
I'm waiting to see how everyone reacts should Albemarle start the season 0-4. There's a very strong possibility this will happen too. Concord will destroy Albemarle. East Montgomery is a good 3 or 4 TD's better. Thomasville and West Stanly will most likely win....it might not be pretty wins, but both are better than West Stanly. My guess is we will hear the usual excuses and some of the fans will be finger pointing at the HC. The HC, who is not known for tact, will not take too kindly to these fans.
I hate it for the Dawgs. Most of the Bulldog fans are great people and then you have some that ruin everything for the reasonable fans.

EF, I am fully expecting an 0-4 start to the season. In fact I have stated there are only 2 or 3 winnable games on our schedule. I also agree the security and discipline issues have to be corrected first and for most. The school has taken a big step backward in the last 2 years and we have a long way to go to get back any where close to what we once were. jmo.

Gang activity at the school? Really? That's interesting. In regards to Albemarle and its football team they are about one to two years away from getting back on top. This is a transition year but I am really excited about the incoming freshman and sophomore classes.
Keep this about football, nobody will deny the resources taken from AHS. Now that it has some stability back I believe over the next couple of years you will see it begin to improve every year. We have some great great kids with very bright futures. Good luck to all Bulldogs this season.
Also before spreading BS about gang activity in the school I would challenge you to come in and walk the halls. AHS has a bunch of great great kids, do they have issues just like any other school yes but nothing like what is conveyed here. Remember there are kids in this school that are working hard respect them.
Why are we talking about "Gangs"? Please don't get me started. I have zero tolerance and Zero "F's" given when we talk about demographics...

Guess what? For the fourth time the quarter cent on 1% sales tax for SC will be on the ballot this coming November. I know some of it is ear marked for education. Come on people. WAKE UP and lets pass it this time. Maybe the fourth time is the charm.......

I think you need to learn how to relax. I'm not calling all AHS kids gangsters. The gang activity has not helped your beloved school whatsoever.

Sway, gang activity hurts the pride of a school. This is not connected with demographics, per se. I guarantee you that the gang activity has caused reputable people to leave AHS. This is one of the reasons why your school has seen its enrollment dwindle.
Buddy, it is past time for the tax referendum to pass. Unfortunately, I don't see a passing. The citizens of Stanley County are very anti-tax and will not support any tax increase even if it helps out our kids.
I later read the entire article on line and guess what. The commissioners are fussing among themselves on how to spend the money.. Oh My Gosh.. Somebody give me a break!!!!!!!!!
The citizens should elect sound-minded guys like you as a Commissioner. I'm not sure if it's a lack of caring about the next generation, or if it's just because the citizens are cheap, but not fully funding our schools should never be the solution. In this situation, AHS has been the victim over and over again.

Bet it passes now that the school closing are off the table. You also said AHS would be closed. Just saying you have a new BOE coming in, new superintendent, my guess it passes, barely but I believe it will. **** disclaimer LOL if they are clear on what it will be for any conflict on what it will be for come November and it won't.
It was for the schools. Everyone knew about it this past time when it was on the ballot.
Correct and Everyone I know said they would vote for it IF they agreed to take the plans off the table and they were not willing to. I am speaking of what is going on the ballot in November. Now that the plans are off the table and a new BOE coming in I fully expect it to pass especially if they propose it as they did this last time. It's not the sales tax that people said no too.
I personally think it will pass just as long as they are perfectly clear and transparent on what it's going for. Just my opinion
I hope that the referendum passes. I am not optimistic like you because history indicates that the electorate will find another reason to defeat the measure.
BK AHS has the normal HS issues. Actually a report came out not to long ago where it showed NS and WS had the most crimes reported. NS being number 1. However a lot of these are minor at all schools but essentially you have HS kids with HS problems. I don't even know why this is being said you think there gang problems come walk the halls. We have great kids.
I have been told directly that there gang related problems at AHS. This has been told to me personally by a couple of criminal defense attorneys, a superior court judge, and several law enforcement officers including ones at the top of the city and county departments. I am not at the school and do not know but based on the conversations I have had with people that would desl with this directly it appears there are some gang related issues or at the least students associated with gang activity.
Boy now I'm really confused. bulldognation is telling me one thing and btango is telling me another. Is there gang activity or influence at the school or not?
You have kids that are related to people in gangs but the majority of the issues are outside of the school with young people who have already graduated some a long time ago. There are also kids like this at North and South. So why aren't we talking about that as well?
As far as AHS having gangs at the school no that's not true. Do you have fights just like at every HS in America yes. Once again the crime report that came out #1 was NSHS and #2 WSHS I believe AHS was 3 followed closely by South with 4. Why aren't we talking about that?
This is getting a little ridiculous honestly. The fact is what you know is hear say. Come in to the school and find out for yourself. AHS has a bunch of great great kids. The last two years has been really tough on these kids. To say or put AHS as a trouble making school over NSHS or any other school is simply false. AHS has been through enough and finally has some stability back quit the BD talk unless you come with facts. And the fact is when the amount of crime reports came out AHS wasn't even in the top 2 in the county. You want to discuss something discuss that but quit pulling AHS down with false statements.
Thanks for speaking up for all the students at AHS. Finally someone has confirmed the truth. Sad to believe that others in 2016 bury their heads in the sand about something so serious.
Can we get a link to the crime report for the schools for last school year? I find those things interesting and they can also be deceiving. If "rankings" are based on strict numbers then enrollment numbers can slant them. In addition I have seen that what some schools report others deal with it differently although they are in the same system. From year to year a change in admin or the administrator decking with the problem can make the reporting skew.
I think all schools have issues some more serious than others and some made to appear more serious than others. There is no doubt that AHS has gotten a worse rap than probably deserved and that the school is full of great kids but one really bad incident causes a much stronger response both with factual info and false but that results from an in incident.
