Practice is at 5:30-8 a.m. and 8:30-11 on Saturday. Might make that Saturday one..

From what I was told, we will be very young, but still too early to tell, but the future looks bright. That's what we need to expect this year. 2 or 3 wins is all we're going to get. But I'm not sure if you seen the kids from the middle school, but Albemarle has a bright future ahead of itself. We will never have the number that we had in the past, but we will start competing again soon.

I think everything depends on having the same HC for more than one year. Hope Jim Mason is the right coach . The kids need the same coach year in and year out. We shall see.......

How many of the YVC schools do not have JV teams? Hate to hear there might be no JV team as it is really hard to shore up and build a program without one. What are the rules these days for letting underclassmen play on the varsity? I assume there is a limited number that can be added?

For Varsity? None that I can think of.. There is the 8 quarter rule, but that's different.

Albemarle will be fine. They will get crushed the first 4 games, win a couple in the middle and toss-up at the end.

Just had a nice long chat with Jim Mason and I will say I left impressed. He not only sounds like a coach he looks like one. lol. I believe he is here for the long haul from what I gathered. He said this year we are starting to build for the future. Said we could go 0-11, 5-6 or anywhere in the middle. Only have 1 senior on the team and a few juniors. Bulk of the team will be freshmen and sophmores. So in essence we will be playing our jv team against the other teams varsity. This will be really tough, but if we can get through this season I look for vast improvement in the years to come.
On another note next year in non-conference we will play Thomasville with Eastern Randolph in place of Concord. Also understand East Mongomery will move to 2A which will leave us with one more game to pick up to replace them.
All in all I believe the future at Albemarle looks bright....

Like I said, I'm riding with Mason...the hell what everybody else is saying. I can remember that Albemarle J.V. teams could beat most varsity teams, especially in 2001-2003 j.v. and 2008-2010. We'll have to wait for the fruits of labor, but it will pay off in the end.

Side note: The kids who left Albemarle to join North Stanly, I hope Albemarle beats the hell out of'em.

Also Coach Mason has put together a very good coaching staff: Stan Napier, Mike Blanton, Corey Dick, Derek Turner, etc.

I went to school with Turner, he was leading the AYL. I checked them out last year when they had that huge scrimmage at AHS. Albemarle has some kids @Buddy Rich, I'm telling you... I know one was at least 6ft in the 5th grade lol. Turner was a good pick up.

Good post, thanks for the info. ER will be a tough game but I like that matchup. I can't remember AHS ever playing ER so could be the first meeting between the schools.

I thought at one time there was a rule that only a certain number of 9th and 10th graders could play on the varsity. Guess I was wrong. Thanks.

Yes East Montgomery and Anson county move into the Rocky River conference as Parkwood and Monroe move out and up to 3A

OK Susan this is what I expect this year. I agree with Sway. I think we will get crushed in the first 4 games. First winable game will be CC. Also SD and then who knows. This is the youngest most inexperienced team we have ever fielded at Albemarle. I think it is probably the best coaching staff we have had in awhile but they can just do so much.
@Sway. I have yet to see us running any wind sprints. Don't get it?????

I guess throughout the years kids transferring away from other county schools didn't matter as long as albemarle was on there high horse

Your right triplej, I seen back in the day when albemarle was a power house they would run up the score on opponents. I guess it's time for that medicine.

Can't say that I have BIGGDOGG just admit it albemarle sucks

Yes, Albemarle is horrible. Without having on rose-tinted glasses, there are some systemic issues involving the high school and the school system that simply won't be fixed overnight.

In regards to the preseason, I think there will be numerous teaching moments and life lessons that will be taught this year. The program....and really the school's discipline has eroded over the past several years, but having a no-nonsense approach to the fundamentals should reap rewards for future years.

I played on a team at a school as a freshman with myself and 8 sophomores on varsity continuously had albemarle run the score up I will never have anything nice to say about them...once I remembered playing at albemarle and they were ahead a good 56 points and kicked on sides no respect at all for the crowd in dark blue they have no class

And there's not respect for you either. If you hate Albemarle so much.....why do you reply to every Albemarle thread. You sound like a bitter little child that could NEVER have played for Albemarle, or maybe you weren't "recruited" and that's what makes you whine. Crawl back in your shallow little hole.

I sure that the albemarle fans stand up laughing and high fives, that's what they did in their glory days but now days they want people feel sorry for them,(KARMA) hurts so bad!!!

There's where you're wrong "Like A Pro". We don't want anyone feeling sorry for us and I bet you can't find a post on here from anyone from Albemarle asking for pity. Because of like some of the posters on here, that's why we stood up laughing and high fiving. We got 5. How many you got?

Bigdog I think in triplej earlier post he said he was recruited by phone calls and emails, sounds like he was good enough to play for albemarle!

Let me also say I went through 2 head coaches and 3 defensive coordinators

Dude if your seriously asking why I'm commenting on every thread you have no common sense I have no reason to live in the past like you guys just wanna keep you reminded in the present how sorry you are...who's the bitter child you do respond to everything I say so is it me or you biggdogg? No one is whining here stating the truth and you can't accept that just take it like a man and move on all you can do...y'alls gravy train has run out my friend

When you can pick and choose which players you want from the whole county makes it some what unfair but hey, y'all did win 5, no matter how, so just win baby win!!!

Beat a "Dog" while it's down is no fun. Funny how people come out the wood work when Albemarle "Bullpups" are raising a new little for the future. Don't worry, the "Butt Hurt" will happen again one day. In the mean time, which ever team your going for better win a championship in that span....

As crooked as they are carolinapanthers they could have had the school board adjust the budget for albemarle and make sure there fans have rings and the other schools in past years have suffered with equipment issues and funding way to go albemarle Bulldogs
