Could it be any better than this? 2AA Western Final will be a Cleveland County affair! I'm not even sure where to start with this one.. Shelby will be the favorite as they should be...

A rematch from 6 weeks ago when Shelby beat Burns 26-13 & honestly it really wasn't that close... But as we know, rematches rarely follow the same script as the first game...

Will be a great one next Friday at Shelby! I can't wait & if you wanna get a seat, probably a good idea to get there at 5!

Ill find out gate time but thinking its norm 5.30 on big games...but ill ask DA or coach Wilbanks and put it on here

Man ol man this will be the game of all games to go watch !!!! The 2015 Shelby / crest game ain’t gonna have nothing on this game I’m afraid (and that’s sayin a lot ). If it’s half of what tonight’s game was it’s gonna also be a instant classic.

Shelbys defense playing lights out last 4 weeks.
Offense sloppy at times again tonight and to many pentlys...
We are due a complete game.
Hard to beat a team twice..but hope we can do it...

Funny you say that, I was literally just wondering if Shelby might open it up at 5 next week instead of 530.. Definitely think they should... Looking at probably 12,000 or more I'd think

Honestly....yes....if we could have gone small 2A so we could be watching each other play for state championships two weeks from tomorrow!
Very true my friend... But we do get to do something that's never been done in Cleveland County before! But both of us getting to play in a State Championship would have been really cool too...

But let's say that would have happened.. I think there's no doubt Burns & Shelby would have swept the 2A & 2AA titles

I think we should get our popcorn ready. It’s truly hard to bet against Shelby at any point in the playoffs, no matter their record or the season they have had. I do think that this will be a hard fought game to the end. Can’t wait

Serious question, If you are a Shelby football alumni and don’t get a ring, are you a pariah? For SHS and most of you clowns except LA, a pariah is a bad thing.

I mean, if you spend 4 ringless years in the Shelby program, do you get banished to Bessemer City or Cherryville?

Hey SeaDog! Come on over to Shelby next Friday!

Also if I'm not mistaken this will be the first time Burns has played in December since the State Championship season in 94

I was impressed with Sweezy last nite. I don’t remember a bad pass at all from him. His throws were money all nite. It was obvious NL focused on Pryor. That opened up Burns passing game. Then when NL started being more honest that opened up Pryor more. Hats off to Burns coaching staff on play calling and making key adjustments.

How do you spell pariah? I was wanting to look it up.

I am picking THE TEAM from CLEVELAND COUNTY TO WIN.

This time of year anything can happen. Coach Devine really seems to be getting 100% effort out of his players which really makes a difference.

Shelby will, of course, be the favorite on Friday. Burns’ chances of pulling off the upset will depend on whether or not they are able to establish a passing game. In order to win this game they’re going to have to take some chances with Sweezy throwing the ball. Establishing a passing game will be crucial in keeping Shelby honest and giving Pryor some space. Burns’ run-heaviness again North Lincoln made it tough for Pryor to get loose. In addition to Sweezy throwing it, they’re going to have to let him run more often than he did in the North Lincoln game if they hope to pull off the upset.

Should be a good one!

Yeah you can thank the NCHSAA for shortening the 2011 (and 2012) seasons to 11 weeks. That meant our 4th round game at home against West Rowan was played on Black Friday instead of the first week in December.

A BIG hats off the coaching staff. The wet field and then keying in Kujuan helped a lot. Cam’Ron was throwing the best he had all year last night. Maybe one throw that wasn’t perfect as he just didn’t let the receiver get into his route good enough. More of a timing thing though than a throwing error. After Pryor was held to 8 yards in the first half I think he ended up with 120-130. It’s going to take a great game plan for Friday night and that plan started on the bus ride back to Lawndale I’m sure.

Thanks notanyonesfan,, appreciate the invite. This should be a good one. Congrats to all you Cleveland County knuckleheads!

Maybe they'll move the game to Lawndale since Ron Greene Stadium has 10,000 capacity and George Blanton Memorial has 7,000 capacity. But I don't think Shelby would agree to that!

What was crowd like in regular season match?

I pass Burns stadium every day. No seats have been added. I'd say Shelby's stadium seats almost twice what Burns does.

Wasnt as much of a turn out at the regular season game as I had thought. I personally feel like attendance has been down overall for Shelby this year, which is a shame, but Friday night will be a different story.

Absolutely 0% chance Shelby would let this game be moved. They have hosted big time games many times and it works out just fine. It’s going to make for a great atmosphere none the less. First time in county history that two teams have met in the western finals. I’d say probably 9k-ish fans expected.

There was probably close to 9000 in 2015 for Crest game. I remember thinking so many people in the stands at 6 pm.

Yeah I was in a seat at 5:30 and already had people sitting beside me. That game was electric with all the people standing all the way around the track even. Looks like a 5:30 arrival time will be what it takes again Friday. I really wanted to go see Mitchell play East Surry but man I can’t miss this game. Pryor is fun to watch play. Y’all Burns guys have been sayin he’s special and man he really is fun !!!

Let's be honest here. We're playing with house money at this point. If you would have told anyone in the Burns program before the season that we would be in the 4th round, everyone would have taken it. What an amazing job the coaches and players have done this year. Having said that, in no way are the boys satisfied yet. They've wanted this rematch since the loss earlier in the season. I'm sure everything in the book is open this week. I think it will be a totally different game this time around. We got in our own way last time and gave up way too many long third down plays. Hopefully are young secondary learned from the last game and will make the necessary adjustments.

Bleed burnsblue. And u think Shelby played its A game?
I feel we played terrible..after half we switched to run..Burns couldn't stop us off tackle.
We could have scored again at end but Wilbanks took knee.
I do feel its hard to beat team twice but we just have to let boys decide what happens.
I know Shelbys D has been playing really good last 4 games

I'm sure they didn't. I've seen Shelby play once this year, I don't know what their A game looks like. I know what our A game looks like and that wasn't it. I'm sure we made you guys play a little worse just like yall made us play a little worse. That's how you win games.

Usually when two good teams play your best isn’t presented because the other team is better then most you play. Just my observation. One thing is a fact though, burns did shoot theirselves in the foot a lot against Shelby the first time. Personal foul penalties that gave big chunks of yards and first down in crucial situations. Maybe it could have been worse for us if Wilbanks didn’t knee it out...but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to line up and play again. I’m Burns through and through, I’d love nothing more than a Bulldogs win. But we must stay composed between the ears to give ourselves the best chance in the game. It’s Shelby, in the playoffs on top of it, and we know what they bring. I think it’s going to be a close one and I can’t stress that enough.

Burns had 0% passing game 1st game. I’m sure we learned something over the past 2 games also! Both teams are different. They both have improved since earlier in the year!
