I imagine when high school sports were originally developed, the thought was to provide exercise and recreation for the students. It seems in many instances, sports have become a must win or win at all cost endeavors. I don’t believe in participation trophies. I do believe competition teaches athletes real world values they will need as adults.
Winning is the goal but I sometimes feel we put to much emphasis on winning. We can all recall instances where adults have made decisions that didn’t benefit the program or the kids. It is up to school administrators to interview and hire coaches who first and foremost have integrity and are respected as individuals before they are considered as coaches. I guess my problem is the world is not black and white. There are way to many shades of gray for my poor brain can deal with.

If Glenwood does not get job approval and considering they lost a very strong staff with no HC ready to go in May will this program be able to recover in the next few years? Basically, what has been built over three HC tenures and a quarter of a century will probably be gutted because the top players will roll on out of there just like those coaches.
From a talent perspective Butler was on the upswing because they were relatively down prior to the west final team of a few years ago. If a decision like this was made during a “down” year I could probably understand. This decision will actually make Butler worse

New Clinton head coach

I don't necessary think the yes man is what he is. I would say that he is going to do what is needed for the program to grow from what the prior coach. I believe that Clinton could have won the title last year however the spread offense is soft in my opinion. Boykins is going to bring a toughness but also experience. There is a shortage of good coaches and if we are not careful, 80% of these programs will be coached by Pop Warner guys. I think administrations if they are looking for a yes guy needs to be careful because when you interfere with the process you don't get the results you think you should get.
Good Post!

It' beats the pop warner stuff they like to use out east. Clinton beat all the pop warner schemes on their way to the title.

I feel like this is an important year for Burns. I know we all expect to be a little down, but we have to win the game we're supposed to win. One bad year can easily turn into several bad years. I truly believe the future is bright, we just have to keep the ship afloat this season, and I have full confidence that Divine can do that.
The future is definitely bright. Just have to get the younger players up to speed and if they continue to buy in it will work itself out. I’m still ready for this conference to be over. Devine has the support he deserves and I would be fine to see him at the top of the program for as long as he wants to coach. He is as good as it gets for the kids, the community and the program.

That’s huge!
Yeah I had them coming out of 3A West this year before I even got this news. I know Dudley, AC Reynolds, Crest and Hickory will be a very tall order but Dub C will see Chambers, Hough, Creek and Indy. No 3A team plays a schedule nearly as hard (and a very young WC team won 2 of those games last year). I’ve felt like the past two WC teams needed a lot of work offensively and LJ will definitely help them improve.

Big 32

If I did my math right and I could be WAY WAY OFF ( simply took the numbers from the Simmons thread and counted up 58/59 schools and figured that would be close to 1A, then next 58/59 2A) Heritage would be 3A with this plan. Granted they are near the cut off line so that could change with next years ADM numbers.and man 1A would not even have enough teams to field a quality playoff for football.

If they are 2A they will be a factor as well as Starmount. And I would never count out Murphy or Swain.

So much yet to play out.

Go Mountaineers

My Breakdown of what 8 Classes Could be if they'd quit playing around

I got a strong feeling from all the murmuring at the Winter coaching clinic that Big 32 was going to happen. Not just from the bigger schools, but also from the schools in the middle of the pack of ADMs...traditional smaller 3A schools will now play against traditional 2A schools in the new 4A, etc.
Have a clue where the adm lines will be?
