"If our qb has time he can throw it. Call it one dimensional all you want but when you lead the country in rushing, not really much of a need to throw it much." Except when you NEED to. WRH is going to need to. They also are going to need to DEFEND the pass. Those that dont see a need to pass the ball dont often see a need to play defense against it either. And for good reason in their case. I wonder if they saw 10 passes thrown against them all year in that league they play in? They will see that many maybe in the first quarter of this game I would bet.

acually yes WRH played 3 teams that liked to throw it around a lot.

There is some gymnastics with the words here, so MEMBERS of the team that may have tested positive may not neccessarily be PLAYERS of the team but STAFF MEMBERS?

Multiple members of the Wallace-Rose Hill High School football team have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Saturday's 2A state championship game, according to the N.C. High School Athletic Association.

“We have been made aware of positive COVID tests for Wallace-Rose Hill’s football team and the NCHSAA is in regular communication with Wallace-Rose Hill administrators to monitor the situation," NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker said Thursday.

The NCHSAA did not say how many people have tested positive and whether or not they are players or staff members.

But you also know the virus stays in your system for 3 months what if u already had it and recovered the test will reveal you are still carrying the virus!’ This testing system is so flawed!!

3 members, hopefully all are not players, and hopefully this is all.

Here is the latest facts on the Wallace-Rose Hill football situation as of Thursday 10:30 AM. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation but who are not authorized to talk tell WCTI NewsChannel 12 that 3 football players tested positive for covid-19 since Saturday. Those tests were flagged by the Duplin County health department and contact tracing was initiated.

This is from the Facebook page I referred to earlier:

Here is the latest facts on the Wallace-Rose Hill football situation as of Thursday 10:30 AM. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation but who are not authorized to talk tell WCTI NewsChannel 12 that 3 football players tested positive for covid-19 since Saturday. Those tests were flagged by the Duplin County health department and contact tracing was initiated. The County Health Department contacted the State Health Department for additional guidance because of the 2A state championship game with Shelby scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. The state health department recommended the county test the football team and staff Friday with rapid tests and any one who tests positive will not be allowed to travel to Raleigh. I’m told players and coaches have been wearing masks in practice this week. Head coach Kevin Motsinger, athletic director Corey Lovelace and Principal Tim Jenkins all say they are unable to comment at this time.

I put in a call to the Duplin County Health Department at 8:15 am and left a message. I’m waiting to hear back.

I also contacted the NCHSAA and this is the response from president Que Tucker:

“We have been made aware of positive COVID tests for Wallace-Rose Hill’s football team and the NCHSAA is in regular communication with Wallace-Rose Hill administrators to monitor the situation. At this time there are no plans to postpone or delay the 2A State Championship between Wallace-Rose Hill and Shelby scheduled for Saturday.

As they have been doing, school officials will continue to work with the Duplin County Health Department to determine the best course of action for their student-athletes and community to slow the spread of COVID-19. We hope that there are not more positive tests and are praying for the speedy recovery of those individuals who have already tested positive.”

This is beat up. I agree...if they haven't been testing every week all season why are they doing it now?

I want WRH at full strength. Man...I really hope we play this weekend.

I don't see it as false hope. They have walked the walk and talked the talk all year. No different than Shelby. Someone has to lose and regardless of who it is it will hurt. But there will be no false hope.

And just to be clear here I'm from Vanceboro and West Craven. I went to watch WRH play SWO earlier in the season because we had an open week. Then we hosted WRH in the 2nd round of the playoffs and lost to them. I've been to both of their playoff games since then. I guess you could call me a fan of them. I like their fans and I really like Kevin Motsinger. I may not live long enough to see it cause I'm 62 but I think for the younger guys they may look back in 30 years and refer to him as a legend in high school football coaches.

How did I miss this? You accused me of adopting teams, now look at this. You're a black pot. At least I own up to my shenanigans.

"Blame Roy and the NCHSAA"

That's a joke, but not having universal guidelines for high school athletics and letting each county/school system decide what is best put all teams on uneven playing field.

How many team members were vaccinated? Actions (and INactions) have consequences. Now back to the game talk. Somebody said WRH played 3 teams that "actually throw the ball around a lot." WHO are these teams?

You do know the vaccine does not prevent you from getting or spreading covid so that question really has little to no value in this discussion.

But it does keep you from getting really sick. I had the vaccine and later got covid and had hardy any problems and it did not last very long.

My wife got covid before the vaccine and she had very slight symptoms. Loss of taste was about it. We slept together and sat on the couch together and I never got it. Now we are vaccinated and we both have the booster shot. If this don't work I'm done with damn shots.

Per MaxPreps stats for each team that WRH has played, only 3 teams have thrown for over 800 yards all year, but WRH has beaten them all soundly:
South Lenoir - 1,327 passing yards, WRH defeated 76-26
Kinston - 2,2023 passing yards, WRH defeated 62-35
Northeastern - 2,876 passing yards, WRH defeated 57-22

Other teams (some teams only have partial stats uploaded on MaxPreps: I'm including the entire year's passing yards and the number of games included):
East Bladen - 386 yards, 11 games
Northside-Pinetown - 279 yards, 13 games
North Myrtle Beach - 587 yards, 9 games
SW Onslow - 645 yards, 10 games
South Lenoir - 1,327 yards, 9 games
North Lenoir - 587 yards, 10 games
Rosewood - 589 yards, 6 games
Kinston - 2,023 yards, 12 games
East Duplin - 675 yards, 13 games (played twice)
James Kenan - 721 yards, 10 games
SW Edgecombe - 483 yards, 9 games
West Craven - 180 yards, 10 games
Northeastern - 2,876 yards, 13 games
Princeton - 482 yards, 14 games

That being said, Shelby has not faced a team that has run for near the number of yards that WRH has run for this season...the closest team would be East Gaston, that has run for 4,366 yards and have a 2,000-yard rusher and a 1,400-yard rusher.

Yes, everyone is different. I did not have the vaccine, got COVID and had hardly any problems...a day or two of just feeling weird. I am a healthy 40 year old man with no underlying conditions, so I did not feel the need to get the vaccine. I was correct in my assumption. My wife, however, is a healthy 41 year old with no underlying conditions and was fully vaccinated. She later got COVID (the same time as our kids and me) and was very sick. Her exact words were "Why am I more sick than you when I am the one that got the vaccine?" Our teenage children are not vaccinated and got COVID at the same time as us. They all 4 cruised though it as well. My 65 year old father got COVID prior to vaccines and was hospitalized for 2 and a half weeks including a week in the ICU. Had vaccines been available prior to him getting COVID, I would have encouraged him to get it due primarily to his age as he was healthy as well.

It should be said that I also have a degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and took multiple biochemistry, immunology, and histology classes over an 8 year span through undergraduate and post graduate school. The word "science" is thrown around way too much as much of what you hear in the media is not the real science behind the virus and our immune systems. If anyone has any questions, I am more than happy to share the information that I have learned over the years to be factual in regards to this pandemic.

The one thing that I do know more than anything.....God's design of our immune systems is magnificent.

Random question for the Reidsville guys, since you guys have seen them both. Kanye Roberts or Marqies McCombs? Don’t consider their individual stats vs the Rams. Base it on who would concern you more, based on their abilities.

And your degree in virology is from where? Here are some facts you dont apparently know: The fact is, the more that are vaccinated the quicker this pandemic will subside to history but people that think like you are the sole reason it rages on. Another fact is most of the people that matter have long since been vaccinated, and the mounds of data available is clear. Vaccines work son. Also something you apparently dont know is that all but 100 percent of covid hospitalizations and deaths currently are among the unvaccinated. There is a lesson in there somewhere for those smart enough to look. Wouldn't that be fair to say?

Good question. Id say Roberts would be the biggest concern based on the offense he plays in. If Im a college recruiter, id probably like McCombs more, but both are great.

Different type players that faced different Rams teams. The 2020 Reidsville team that beat WRH was probably the best team Reidsville ever put on the field. Roberts was a great player but more of a power runner. McCombs is very quick and smaller and is great at hiding behind a huge offensive line and picking his holes. Then again McCombs faced a much weaker 2021 Rams defense this year. Both will give any team fits.

Roberts was also going about 70% in that Reidsville game

But looking at WRH on video, they have more threats in the backfield than just Roberts. He can have a slow night and the other 3 can still kill you on the ground. A defense is going to have to play real assignment football.

Totally agree. East Duplin plays good assignment football.

Part of me says....tell the Duplin County health service to shove it and make a stand against the vaccine mandate tyranny and decline to go.
The other part of me says it wouldn’t be fair to the kids that would miss the opportunity of a lifetime. Most of them this will be their last game ever.

It is however a crock of BS to pull this stunt 2 days before the game. It’s NOT for the health of ours kids or Shelbys kids. iIf that were the case testing for every team would have been required before every game, especially the playoffs because WRH has been on the road every game except the 1st round.

Makes NO difference how many were vaccinated because you can still catch it and still transmit it to another person. That’s 100% fact.
