Western Playoffs

Does anyone know how many teams in the West will not be participating in the football playoffs? Looking at the horrible devastation from the hurricane I can't believe some schools can participate. In 2018 when Florence hit the eastern part of NC lots of non conference games were not made up but in the west many teams were in conference schedules already. I'm thinking if there are a number of teams in the west unable to play then the "line" between east and west will move substantially east. What does the message board think? Also, will there be the same number of teams in the playoffs?

Crest got stronger as a result of a young man and his family losing their home and moving in with relatives in a place that was also home. I’m pretty sure they would prefer having their home and possessions AND to still be playing at Reynolds. It’s pretty hard to cry foul on this particular case.

Buncombe County schools alone have had 500 kids moved to homelessness or displaced. ( That’s an entire 1A/2A high school, number wise, in one county). 100+ students have moved out of district and more will follow as you have some people that have lost homes, many haven’t worked in 1month+ due to having no job to physically go to or the water issue, and in some cases people lost both or soon will. Some that thought their homes “made” it are now finding them condemned/ unsafe as inspections are being done.


There are quite a few adults up here making adult decisions that currently don’t revolve around “stacking” a sports team.

That is a bad take. I am normally the first one pissed about some of the transfer things that have happened over the years but this is not one of them. You are combining your own personal feelings and a tragic situation for the point of argument. You will have nobody backing you on this.

Even tho it was stated that the mountain schools are back and their games will be made up. My personal feelings on transfers in general are well known on here. This goes beyond my personal feelings, this at least looks like players changing schools simply for a better chance to win.
I’m I much prefers the rule you have to sit out a season if you change schools. And yes I know, nobody cares what I think

You want the kid to buy a tent and live in front of AC Reynolds? He has no freaking house. They watched their vehicles and neighbors houses float away. They had to escape through the 2nd floor window because water filled the first floor. His dad played at Crest and is from here, so they moved back with family. Yeah, you're right, the state should've really stuck it to him and made him sit out. Classy... But honestly I wouldn't expect any different from a SP fan.

You’re out of touch and you’re thinking is majorly flawed on this subject and this particular incident. A better word than “transferred” in this scenario would be to say a family “relocated” due to being displaced from their home, and as a result, took their child with them.

By your logic, any child whose family moves due to job, military, home loss, family death, and it occurs during the school year, the child should be penalized for the remainder of that year. This a massive overreach to correct “illegal transfers”.

You’re making sports BIGGER THAN LIFE AND THEY AREN’T.

Well said!! I may be out of touch on all the details but from my understanding they obviously had to make the move immediately and it was already decided to enroll at Crest when there was still uncertainty on what would happen. Either way, I’m glad he has a roof over his head every night and playing the sport he loves. I hope he does great!

That was the rule years ago. I understand it’s not that way now but I’m not required to like it.

Some of the SP guys have unique views on what transfers are…. Unless they benefit SP smh.

I have a question that relates to what the original post was about. Actually it's more about playoff seeds. Due to being on the front line of the disaster clean up I am only able to make it to home Erwin games. I'm working 13 hr days and barely make kickoff. I'm hoping I get to see at least a few playoff games. If Erwin beats Reynolds they will be 8-1 and conference champs. I assume that would mean at least two home playoff games. If they lose they will be 7-2 and 2nd in conference. Would that still guarantee at least one game at home? I'm not really good with how playoff seeding works so I appreciate input.

Based on Erwin’s RPI currently….I think both your assumptions would be correct.

Yes, ACR is 4th and you're currently fifth in RPI. Win and you probably get the 2nd overall seed assuming things play out normal ahead of you. South Point would get #1 and you would get at least 3 home games. Lose and you probably find yourself 12-14 with one guaranteed home game.

On another note, I just realized how many teams are ahead of Pisgah from some of the same conferences. If we don't win our conference, (We need Smoky to take care of Franklin and us to win and hopefully win three way conference tiebreaker) we may be on the road regardless due to the conference champs that are currently behind us in RPI leapfrogging us.

No disrespect to East Henderson, I just can't see them helping us and beating West so we need a 3-way tie for our best case scenario.

I agree but also didn’t see Smoky putting anywhere near 47 on West last week either. I think they are peaking at the right time of year which is all any coach can want.

The Bears finished second last year and played at home. If we beat Tuscola we should get one game at home .No matter what happens at Smoky.We will either be tied with West for first or tied for second with Smokey or Franklin.Since we beat both we should be at least second seed.

After conference champions, it goes to RPI, conference placement doesn't matter. As it stands right now, this is what I see. We would be the last team in to be awarded a home game and I suspect it would remain this way assuming both West and Us win. West gets conference in that scenario due to head-to-head. If West, Pisgah, and Smoky wins it's a 3-way tie and goes to a draw out of a hat or something like that for the "champion" seed. (I'm honestly not sure of the 3-way tiebreaker) Parkwood wouldn't get seeded as a conference champ from split conference due to record and RPI and that would benefit us. We may bump up a spot with a Tuscola win due it being a decent "quality" win RPI-wise.

9. Freedom ?? Not 100% sure on this one due to being split conference and their record
