Brother I say this with all due respect. I don’t give a rats ass what happened in 1938 as far as high school football is concerned. You act like WC is some football juggernaut that Erwin is lucky to even be on the same field as. Pisgah and Tuscola used to run the world in hs football, but that hasn’t meant anything for the last 30+ years, and I can assure you being around since 1938 will have zero effect on Fridays game. Tradition only matters if you can continue the tradition. So you’ll have to forgive me for not knowing of a school that looks to have a losing record over the last 20 years.
Again a little bit of humility would do you some good.

You’re the one who has came in acting like WC has been the greatest team to ever touch grass. Respect is earned not given. Again I expect WC to win Friday night, but some humility would do wonders for you.
Here’s my question for the Erwin guys … how does this team compare to the 2013 team ? Cause man that was a really good team that if hadn’t ran into troubles at the end of the year would probably done very well ..if my memory serves me correctly the 2014 team was good but I thought the 13 team was special
Just my 2 cents. In my high school days West Charlotte was well known for being a contender and had been for sometime. Sure they have fallen off from that but make no mistake they have a proud history. Also to the point of some of the mountain teams need to come off the mountain to play some teams to get prepared for the playoffs? Well ACR has done that and it hasn’t panned out all that well of late. Erwin beat them without coming off the mountain and ACR got spanked 42-0 second round so I don’t believe all that crap. Reidsville rarely plays anyone and they win state titles on the regular. I know not this year but typically. That’s all
I would give a slight edge to the 2013 team. They had a senior qb and were deeper at the skill positions. I would compare this squad more to the 2018 team that lost to a really good Mt Tabor squad in the playoffs. We have a great Sophomore QB who has a good chance of playing at the next level and breaking a lot of passing records in our area. Like the 2018 team, this group is really solid on the O-line. They have good size and move really well. We have a lot of guys playing both ways and so far we have held up pretty well. The coaching staff has done a great job developing and preparing this team. This was a 4 win team just a year ago. The QB and O-line improvement in a year has been impressive.
While cold weather might hinder West Charlotte’s performance, it could also impact Erwin's passing game, which thrives in more favorable conditions.
dudley is not the best team in the state you are tripping lol maybe in 3a and i think dudely is great but u thinking their better than hough 71st grimsley clevland weddington hickory without even seeing them play them teams is crazy i think even havelock and jacksonville could give them issues
I feel like the gap between good western North Carolina football teams and the good teams down east has gotten significantly larger the last 4-5 years. We just don’t put out the size and speed like we could a 10+ years ago for some reason
I'm not sure how me saying Mountain Heritage is a really good 1A team led to a pissing match with West Charlotte. Every Erwin fan on here including me is picking WC to win so why the big head from you guys? Besides, If you win you will get humbled real quick next week vs Dudley. Just enjoy being one of the last handful of 3A teams left and maybe show a tad bit of respect?
That team was the best team Erwin has ever had other than the team that played for a state title in the 80's. They dropped 60+ on Reynolds and crushed everyone they played. It all fell apart when they had a car load of their best players get in trouble for smoking pot at a party. They were kicked off the team and they lost their next two games and that was that. This year's team is similar but not quite as good. Our qb is the real deal though. He's definitely going to break some records over the next few seasons. I really hope the frigid temps Friday night doesn't slow him down too much.
Not a single WC person has disrespected Erwin. A comment was made about adm. The analogy was made because a good 1A school beat a great 3A school so adm is not the end all be all. That was no shot at Erwin which is a great football team. Fridays game will be tough for both sides. two well coached teams in freezing weather! Will be a great game.

Erwin's big offensive line certainly has the potential to create gaps for their fast running back, and a strong-armed quarterback can exploit any defensive weaknesses. However, as you've noted, their defense has historically been a concern, and even with improvements this season, it may not be enough to hold off a potent West Charlotte attack.
The weather conditions are insignificant to me. SP was in Asheville in 2003. Weather was expected to be an issue with snow in the forecast. The thought was that SP wouldn't handle the cold as well as the Cougars. However SP beat them 51-10 in a snow storm. It's been relatively warm this year. I don't think the cold will effect one team more than the other. I do think home field advantage will help Erwin.
That's true. It might affect WC but it's also going to slow down Erwin's passing attack which is their bread and butter. I will say that I don't remember going to any games in the 20's which is predicted Friday night. It's gonna suck to be honest!
What's the scoop on West Charlotte? Passing or running team? Star players? I don't much to be honest. By the looks of their scores they must have a good defense!

We were number 3 seed at Concord and South point beat us previous week 69 to 21. Y'all came back week before after being down 20 to 0 to al brown and won 21 to 20. We lost in overtime to brown by 1 pt. I wish we would have been 4 seed and played y'all instead of sp. I might could have played in one more game before getting my butt kicked
I have a lot of respect for WC ....but this is crazy talk.
Even during Knotts' years there...technically didn't he just win won state championship while there about a decade? He was always in the playoffs and definitely a top program during his tenure there....but that was the zenith of WC football (the bell cow sport) in modern times. I have no idea about what happened in 1950 when Charlotte had 4 High Schools.
You can go to YouTube and watch both of the playoff games they played. They run a similar offence to Erwin. They have good skills players and an ok QB. The QB has speed so Erwin will have to keep him contained. The defense is fast but on the smaller side especially the D Line. Erwin will be bigger upfront on offense. The O Line for WC is good size but tend to get beat by faster players but the QB makes up for that with speed. It's going to be a interesting game to say the least. This will probably be a 45-44 type game. I will take Erwin by 1

Those are their main guys I would say. But they have athletes and speed everywhere. They're a spread offense but balanced as far as how they attack. Defensively they can bring pressure because they have a good secondary that can matchup 1 on 1.
It's not an ideal matchup for Erwin - if they were a power run team they would have a better chance. But what they do WC has seen all season from an offensive standpoint. Greiner is a defensive coach who will bring heat off the edge. Have to have a plan for it or you will be behind the chains trying to throw it a lot.
Unfortunately it is basketball season for some of us.
As Infoman mentioned what Erwin does well WC has seen alot this year. Think the cold, mojo, homefield, and bigger oline will give WC issues. If Erwin can score early they can win. If they don't score early think WC defense takes over. They've given up 10 points sans the Hough game the last 7 games. That's elite regardless of competition. Hough loss by 26 doesn't seem as bad after seeing them in the playoffs.

Mallard Creek seemed to handle that cold weather just fine last week in Boone. I’d like to see Erwin win but not sure they can beat these guys.
I just watched a video of the football team on YouTube and I could hear the band getting down in the background. Not to mention the PA announcer. Whoever does their videos does a hell of a job.
I'm afraid you're right about that especially if Milky Ray doesn't play again this week.
When Mooresville was in the IMECK 4A we went down there on Homecoming a couple times. Their band and color guard girls were right below our perch on top of the press box. 😯 They also had smoked chicken leg quarters and fried fish for halftime. We couldn’t scramble down there fast enough once the clock hit double zeros.
