West Charlotte at Dudley

This is a very interesting game. Two powerhouses on both sides of the ball. I picked Dudley as state champions in the pre season and still think it’s possible but also watched them held to 0 points for 3 1/2 quarters last week. Good corners can slow Dudley down.

WC has been battle tested this year and blew their team out last week.

I still don’t know who to pick but I’m starting to think WC may have a slight edge.

EG was terrible jmr was at least decent
I think any team that beats KM that bad is more than decent. This is why I wish they would’ve gotten another draw so they could show how good they are or could be potentially still playing. Dudley is just a bad match up for Robinson.

JMR lead 3.5 quarters, and one touchdown Dudley got is clearly out of bounds on the videos. I admit that free 7 isn’t enough to take the win but that was a game! JMR also had a WR wide open by 5+ yards who just dropped and walk in touchdown, and a snap to their kicker not make it to the holder for 3.

Dudley knows they played JMR…Bulldogs were a player away from playing this Friday.

Which play was out of bounds? I saw the replays and highlights people posted and none of the scores were out of bounds.

Talking about matchups. JM Robinson only beat Mt Pleasant 36-29. Unless JMR just had a bad night
MP is very good, and will be a bit better next year. Strong D and a RB that flat out gains yards. They also can surprise you with the random throw because you focus so much on the run.

I give a lot of credit to MP and wont post any excuses.

You are right. If that kid catches that pass totally different ball game. Dudley offense didn't play very well at all. But then again if the punt doesn't get blocked by JMR it's a different ball game too. But hey if and and buts don't win games. It's football that ball bounces funny sometimes and those 15-18 year old still will make bone head mistakes.

Let me see if I can find and post a video. It was the TD in the corner of the end zone on the scoreboard end. There was one of those “media” companies who had a very good video.

These kids see NFL players catch with one hand and think they need to copy so the random “media” company makes a highlight video. Watch warmups these kids can’t stop using one hand anymore. Plus add the jump to catch it for absolutely no reason. The game is look at me. Watch next year what happens with all the planting the flag issues that college had this weekend…that crap trickles down.

Dudley scored inside 2 seconds of the start of the 4th quarter on a 33 yard TD Pass. And tied it up. JMR next drive was stopped with 2 QB sacks by Dudley and they got the ball back at mid field and scored with a corner TD catch by Nasir Newkirk. He was inbounds, all of the Charlotte Sports News including Charlotte Football Insiders said it was a great catch and he was on the sidelines taking the picture. High School OT was there too and said it was a great catch. It's funny none of them including Robinson's team or coaches argued about the catch and it was on their side of the field. You saying that Robinson was a play away, But look at the total yardage, Dudley has more first downs, More passing yardage and more rushing yardage. Robinson quarterback was sacked about six times. Dudley had how many at least four or five possessions at midfield. If it wasn't for those false starts and delay a game penalties which was mental breakdowns on Dudley they would have scored in the first half. Robinson only touchdown came from a block punt and got the ball at the 15. So it wasn't 3 and 1/2 quarters. Dudley tied it up within 2 seconds of the fourth quarter.

Player away not play. A lock down corner changes that team big time!

Dudley Total Offense 186 Passing vs 115 for Robinson. Rushing 172 Dudley vs 140 for Robinson. First Downs 15 for Dudley vs 9 for Robinson. Sacks Dudley 7 vs 1 for Robinson. Total yards Dudley 358 vs 255 for Robinson. Dudley QB Rating 109.8 vs 52.9 for Robinson. Take away that block punt. Take away all those false starts by Dudley and I'm not getting to play in that caused them in penalties That game would have been blowout. Robinson couldn't even score at first and goal at the 5-yard line. Dudley kept them out of the end zone. That was one of the worst played games I've seen Dudley play in almost 20 years as far as penalties. But that defense kept Robinson at bay until that offense got the clicking in the fourth quarter. And that 95 yard run by broke their backs.

Im trying to decide between this game or Monroe at Shelby. I wonder which game will be better.

P.Saunders i don't know about that. Me personally I think the Eastern Guilford game was the worst. Just saying.
One of Dudley's main cats, and it may have been Mister Saunders, stated on another thread that Dudley had six or eight players out during the Eastern Guilford contest.
P.S. If going through the regular season undefeated, you're possibly/probably going to have at least one shat, or below average game . Even the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins had a one point win and a two point win.. I guess the key is if they serve you a shat sandwich, slang it out the door and make one of cavier and almonds.
P.S.S. The Dudley receiver had not only one foot in, both feet were down. That reception would have been a touchdown in the NFL.

Correct saunders, you could feel the tide turning mid 3rd, dudley had a drive latter 3rd and had
4th and 2 at the robinson 40 and punted them deep, they then went score, score, score and
a defensive stand in there, yes there was that all alone terrible drop pass by Robinson that
would have been a score and tie the game with around 5 minutes at 14,,, The long rung after the 4th down stop Id like to know the speed of that guy running it was incredible long strides,,Sorry dont know these guys names just travelled in for the game...
this looks to be a great game WC with 2 loses (close one to m creek and a wooping by hough)
Hough is just another level, only Grim and Weddington can compete IMO.

You can say that about any team. You add any one difference maker and any team is a different
Right. I have seen Robinson play two games this year, and though the younger RB looks promising....their running back "room" wasn't close this year. I would figure that younger back will be the starter pretty soon so they have a chance against legitimate teams next season.

I'll be at this one. I miss that fish fry... go Dboyz goooooooo. I'll be on the Dudley side with the Boyz In Blue 💙💙💙 hmu if anyone wants to chat. I just wish I could be in two places at once to watch Grimsley and Dudley. I'll listen on the radio for the other

Who you got? Hickory's defense is going to cost them. Seventy-First or Havelock?
I just don’t think this game automatically decides who will win it all. Neither one may win it all and I definitely don’t see WC as a championship team despite what other people think. I think WC is year or two away. I think it’s up in the air for everyone else. Hickory’s defense is bad but it was bad last year.
