I agree. I find myself getting caught up in the RPI barbershop chat and confusion also. A good friend reminded me that at the end of the day doesn't matter where a team gets put in the playoff seeding. If they are good enough they are going to win. Still fun to see the projections and how things are going so far though.

Sometimes teams can go through a gauntlet of top teams and come out exhausted mentally and physically with injuries. The best team doesn't always win.

RPI is important for seeding purposes. Home field advantage is always important, especially when two equally matched teams play.
Once the the conference winners are determined they are seeded by RPI. Then the 2nd place teams are ranked by RPI and seeded behind the lowest conference champion(no matter how mediocre). After that 3rd place teams in larger conferences undergo a similar process. Thereafter, wild cards are determined by RPI solely. I think some are befuddled because the East and West conferences and subsequent wildcard pools are geographically predetermined.
It is highly probable that a team with a lower RPI from either the East of West could make the playoffs ahead of a higher ranked team from the other region.
Actually the 2nd place and all wildcards are seeded together by RPI after the conference champions are seeded.
Amazing what can be learned by reading these posts. Of course, you have to actually be able to read and comprehend what is written.
Random, predetermined would work just as well, you have to win them all irregardless of seeding I think in the later rounds home field advantage is greatly overrated. If you can’t win on the road you don’t deserve to be a champion, thus the value of predetermined you could conceivably have. Championship match up in a 3rd round! , so what, you’d have to play anyway .Ever since they started seeding teams it’s been controversial. There is no contriversary with predetermined brackets. It is what it is, play it.

You can win an early round away game at East Duplin. Like clockwork. Maybe not!!! I bet you don't want an away game at Northeastern followed by an away at East Duplin. Play it, that's just what you have to do.
SWO hasn’t done squat in 2A since their 2A title in 2004. They did get a 1A title in 2012 but Northeastern and Northside has owned them in 2A since ,They don’t want any of the Eagles nor DarkHorses this year it wouldn’t be pretty

Hoey, I’m.not worried about a thing! I know the way to Elizabeth City and Beaulaville been there several times in fact I like away games! It’s much more fun to win big playoff games on the road! I don’t care wheather it was predermined or not but East Duplin has got to beat WRH and then we’ll see how well they matchup against the DarkHorses Yes I’m confident, not going to apologize for that. Hoey our defense will have to play better imo for us (Northeastern) to beat Clinton. Our offense can score with the best of them in 2a but we need to work on our pass protection. I’m with you though, it will be hard for a team to come into Elizabeth City and beat our Eagles 🦅. We have a very good team
That was a heck of a ball game that night. You should have gone to Princeton and watched them and WRH have at it. Kanye Roberts put on a show like Williams did at Northeastern.
Yes I remember it like it was yesterday. I went to a Princeton game last year but it wasn’t the one with Wrh. I really enjoyed it there and I hung out with the Princeton coach’s brother. That field looked amazing and the atmosphere was crazy.

Based on what I’ve seen, which isn’t a ton, I must say Clinton looks really good. They are going to be tough to beat, but that’s the beauty of playoff football. Northeastern can score, but I’m not sold on their D. Not saying they can’t get there, it’s just not there yet. Wallace is Wallace, but I gotta say, I really like the Panthers of East Duplin. I love battle Halley’s style, he’s a dang good coach, that I feel doesn’t get the love he deserves. He always has his teams prepared and if you’re going to beat them, you better be ready for a dawg fight. Matter of fact, if Craddock left us (Tarboro) and if we went outside of the family, I’d love him to come coach us (haha don’t think he would) but that’s just how much I respect what he does. Playoffs will be fun!
NE scoring on tomato soup cans isn't worth a penny. Clinton UUUU is much watch TV, tbh will be very hard to beat. Wouldn't put it past WRH or ED. WRH got a back Kerr, if he gets hot, he can take over a game aka Kanye or JW. ED is very well coached and play sound football. It will take a breakout game from Kerr and great defense for WRH to win. ED can win with long drives an no penalties, with Clinton UUUU overlooking ED. Battle an Aldridge will have the boys at ED ready to play

Well you’re right , Clinton best WRH I think it was like 58-22 but a lot of factors influenced that score. You can’t expect that quick a start to a game.
A blocked out for a td first was devestating. You know they say a blocked punt is the most devestating play in football. If Clinton were to have a rematch with WRH it could be an entirely different game but I’m confident the Horses would still win
Clinton’s non conference schedule was impressive but their conference schedule does concern me as it really doesn’t offer any challenges in preparation for the playoffs. That’s where good coaching comes in. A really good team might not-really being playing against an inferior team., but against a standard they have set for themselves.
