Curiuos what everyone thinks.....how does Tuscola, West and North Henderson feel about this conference?

NCHSAA first draft conference realignment

Conference A:
A.C. Reynolds
Asheville
Enka
Erwin
North Buncombe
North Henderson
T.C. Roberson
Tuscola
West Henderson

It will make reynolds scheduling much easier. I expect they will keep owen, shelby, and west Forsyth on the schedule for the foreseeable future.

Think the final draft will have Tuscola ,West and East ,in a split 2A 3A conference with Pisgah and the other 2A teams.About the same as before .

Why? It's not because of travel because if they are in that other conference they still would have to travel for non-conference games, and if they remain in the MAC as proposed they would still play their county rivals. So what is the reasoning for having the split conference when they can leave it like this and those county games would be non conference.

Hey Reynoldsrocks2, On your website big green, you have the East Burke Draughn score as EB winning 35-30. They won that game 33-14. Thanks for the great work you and your brother do.

I'm with Reynoldsrocks2. WHY would they put three 3a teams in a splint when you can have a 9 team conference and only have to find 2 games with minimal travel?? I like this conference a lot and I'm sure that Enka and North Buncombe are going to welcome the "new" three in with open arms.

If the Henderson County schools whine like they did the last time that might happen. I just feel the NCHSAA is really trying to get rid of the split conferences as much as they can. I don't like the idea of a 9 team conference but it is a lot better than the split conference. It is not a travel issue. It is a spine issue (of which they apparently have none). They (Henderson County schools) didn't and I feel they still don't want to be in a conference with ACR and Asheville.

Tough for the Henderson schools and even Tuscola to compete in football on a consistent basis. I never really noticed the difference between the top of Buncombe county and the rest of Wnc until recent years. Unless those schools have a Tyler Brosious it will be tough for them to compete for conference titles.

Since the Mac is so strong, they need to put Crest, Burns and Freedom in.

I don't think he was saying the MAC was strong but that ACR, Asheville and Erwin are a good bit better in football than the ones mentioned above.

We used to say the same about Erwin and they turned it around, I'm sure it can happen with Tuscola and the Hendo county schools also. You never know what might happen!

Haha sure. I'm sure Crest would rather play in the Mac than playing Draugn and Rs Central every year.
As for the other 2 teams mentioned. No they can stay in their respective conferences as we do not need another Mtn Heritage on the schedule each year.

The one problem, at least as I see it for Haywood County, is that if Pisgah and Tuscola end up in separate conferences, we're back to playing that game way too early in the year. That game needs to marinate a bit.
I understand that isn't a concern to the NCHSAA or Buncombe Co. Schools but it matters to us.

ACR and Asheville used to play very early in the year also, it didn't take anything away from the game or the rivalry.

I bet this MAC/WNC conference will stand, if you look at the realignment draft there are ZERO 3A/2A conferences. They seem to be trying to do away with them. Split conferences in 1A/2A and 3A/4A are almost impossible not to have.

I certainly agree it starts from the ground up. My nephew played on that Rugby middle team.
There is just a huge difference in playing Wncac and the Mac. None of the Wncac teams would have finished top 3 in the Mac this year, and this was a down year for the conference.
I hope West Henderson continues to build and becomes a yearly contender in Wnc, but it is difficult to do. Buncombe County schools are all larger than West with the exception of Owen. West Henderson's Adm's have risen about 100 students since 2002 so I'm not seeing the growth yet.

Of course there is, one was a 2A/3A, the other a 3A/4A.

As for not finishing in the Top 3, that is subjective about Erwin, but outside of Asheville and Reynolds, do you really think the MAC was better than WNCAC? McDowell? Enka? North Buncombe? TC Roberson got beat by North Henderson, and Enka by Brevard.

The MAC was a top heavy conference, it wasn't a good conference.

Erwin finished 2nd and beat Asheville 20-6. We also beat Franklin who won your conference. So yes I'm talking about finishing at the top. Not talking about fighting for 5th place.

McDowell beat Tuscola. Tuscola beat West. McDowell>West by your logic.

No, I wasn't using transitive property to justify anything, I'm just stating two bottom half 2A squads beat 2 of the biggest schools in your conference. The MAC is a top heavy conference, can you not objectively say that?

I'm all for the new conference alignment. It will be weird not being in the same conference as West and North but it makes sense to split it up.

I think most people would agree that West would have probably been the 4th best team in the MAC this year. Will be interesting to see what TCR does going forward.

Oh the Mac is definitely top heavy. No doubting that.

The Mac is one of the weakest 3A conferences in the state. You only had 1 good team Acr, they got knock out early in the playoffs. Like i said ACR was the only good team in the Mac, Erwin and Asheville were decent 3A teams, the rest suck!!!

Reynolds was pretty good, Erwin was ok and Asheville may have been one of the most disappointing teams to ever step foot on a football field in 2015. The mountains as a whole sucked in 2015. Asheville Reynolds and Erwin combine to win 1 playoff game. How terrible is that?

Asheville did have a off year, but you guys will be back.

Heritage jv beat you this past season lol.

And the previous 3 years I think, but your varsity hasn't played a competitive game against Erwin since we beat the best team in Heritage's history.
We blew your doors off with a Wr playing quarterback.

ACR lost early in the playoffs because the three best teams in 3AA were bracketed together (Crest, Weddington, and ACR). ACR played Weddington in the second round and took them to OT, Weddington then played Crest in the third round and took Crest to OT, after that and before that Crest didn't have a single close game, even their state championship game was a blowout. Had ACR gotten the one seed draw like Concord we would have been playing Crest in the fourth round, and probably played them much closer then the blowout that was endured! Losing early in the playoffs doesn't mean you weren't successful, in our case sit meant we were in the toughest bracket!

Wow you beat a school that you have double the enrollment, guess that makes you a powerhouse now.
