This team seems to be flying under the radar on the state level (haven't heard much). They have a very good QB in Justice Galloway-Velazquez ... probably one of best in eastern NC and he is only a junior. This kid is special. He has put up great numbers (passing and running - five games with over 100 yards) he is a big kid at 6'2 230. The Colts have been making playoff appearances in recent years and look to make a deep run this year. They are unbeaten so far and the argument is that they haven't played anybody, but they are beating teams they are suppose to. They got a big win a couple weeks ago against 71st. I watched them earlier this summer (7 on 7) and was impressed. Has anybody seen them this season and what are your thoughts?

Their schedule is the reason you're not hearing about them. How good was that 71st win? 4-5 Hoggard beat the Falcons by double digits. Their schedule shouldn't prepare them for November/December but the East is wideeeeee open so who knows.

I did mention the Colts yesterday... They're having a pretty good season... Good luck here out. ..

Yes, I first noticed them when they cracked my top 25 earlier in the year. I have the same questions regarding schedule strength. But, we'll see where the season takes them. Congratulations to the Colts on the season they're having.

Time will tell the east is wide open who knows who will be on top.all I want is win Friday then go for all the marbles

Cape Fear defeated five 3-A schools in their non-conference schedule that have a combined record of 22-21. The Colts clobbered conference foes Overhills and Fayetteville Smith with ease, and beat a pretty good Seventy-First squad by two points. Cape Fear should beat Jack Britt with ease before hosting South View (6-3 ) and playing at Pine Forest ( 7-2 ). I doubt any of the above will survive the second round.

you have l
Cape fear would lose by 35+ to any west team. Once again the east teams aren't on that level
You have lost your mind you know nothing about them. I have seen them play and you are just talking . They have a 6ft 2 240 man child at Qb that will give any defense problems. They have skill folks all over the place and size. They are suspect on the ends (D) but they have a big time HS linebacker and a DT that is a borderline D1 player and two good secondary players. They play extremely hard. On offense they can play a game that is slow and deliberate when they need to be or they can speed it up if they want. They will not get beat by 35 to anyone in this state sorry just not going to happen. As a matter of fact outside of the power charlotte schools, SC and Dudley. I would think they would be the favorite in any playoff

Haven't you heard? Everyone who's team hasn't won at least double digit titles and isn't from the west should quit playing. Your best isn't good enough. Kinda like Clemson last year-played the best they will ever play and still lost. Give it up they tell me.

You don't pay much attention to anything outside of that little county of yours. The only real domination over any lengthy time period has been in 4aa due mostly to the big disparity between Meck county and Wake County. The lower divisions starting with 4a and working themselves down have been fairly even. Schools like New Bern, ROse, Scotland , Havlock, Tarboro, Hillside and recently even Rocky Mount have all competed and in some cases have had huge runs of domination.

I would be lying if I said that I knew anything about Cape Fear but I doubt anyone is beating them by 35 points in 4a or 3a

Well i don't know about all of that (not hating on the west) but when I hear such bull shit as that I have to call it. There is no basis for that. Other than Dudley there is no dominant team in the 4a period. SC which is my team could be dominant but they are not because of inconsistent offensive play.

And he doesn't either Blue and Gold and that was my point. I saw one of Forsyth's best last week and I came away very unimpressed with WF. Reagan had 4 runs of at least 45 yards or more and I think with the exception of one they were all called back on flags that had nothing to do at the point of attack. Good teams don't get gashed like that against a 2 win team.

Watched some of WF on TV. Frankly I thought they looked better than they played. Physically they are pretty stout.

People think I am anti - East. Its really untrue. The biggest disparity is in the Wake county scheduling. Its is a dramatic difference and I believe really effects their top teams. I don't think the athletic talent is much of a difference. Coaching in some cases is a problem but the biggest issue is the lack of depth in quality teams. After the top 2 or 3 its a huge fall off and they rarely schedule outside of the area so that when they do get challenged its a problem.

JGV is a one man wrecking crew. I saw him as a 9th grader and knew he would be special. I think he is a great player but I don't think CF has anyone else that can beat you. If CF matches up with a team that can slow JGV then CF will be in trouble. He carries the ball 14+ times a game and throws it 20 times per game. Slowing him down is easier said than done but having a balanced attack usually gets you farther. 71st is a solid team but not a special team as is PF. CF will get a high seed and will have 2 easier games in the playoffs, then we will see exactly what they have.

Watch #11 or #3. They can beat you because of all of the attention on Hoss. I think 11 is a soph he will be a big time player his junior and senior years.

The 10th grader has a great average but only has 34 carries on the year. I am sure CF has a lot of fine players but 75% of the offense runs thru 1 guy. There is a reason for that.

no doubt but if you have not seen them in person you can see there are more guys out there that can make a play. He is also the qb so really 100% of the plays run through him if you want to be honest. My point is if you think he is the only player on that team then you will get beat. The sophomore is going to be a player mark it down barring the obvious issues.

Looking at them on maxpreps vs 71st they run a wildcat like bunch jet sweep offense with a bunch of misdirection. Nice offense and big athletic qb but the line seems a little small and let's be honest not very good. 71st was getting a lot of penetration from the highlights I seen. I can see maybe a 2nd round run but an more aggro defense would cause problems

you might want to adjust that percent on your laptop. Athletic I might give you that but small nope. Field level with them and the easily avg 6ft 2" 250 lbs. I know its not Mallard Creek size but I can't name 10 schools with size like that across the board in my neck of the woods. I was at the 71st game and they had to create havoc have you seen them they have one starter defense over 230 lbs. Cape Fear might loose early but i would bet on them being one of the last 8 standing.

I started this thread in late October and got some interesting responses. Several on here still had concerns about how good they were ... Seems to be a lot better than a lot thought. Good luck to the Colts on Saturday against Dudley

Fayetteville area should be producing some good football. What's happen to Jack Britt, South view,71, EESmith? Same with Wake county reams. Charlotte 4A teams are usually dominate but should they be?

They were even better than I said. Props to CF. I new they were good.

Oh we watching film on them right now...lol

We take no one lightly. They played Pine Forrest the team we played. We will get a feel for them

Our 230lb linebackers will try to get to him. I said it all along DEFENSE gets you the ship

Cape Fear will come to play, don't count them out. This team is a complete unit and they posses the toughness to be champions Dudes. Look out for this team, they are dangerous.

I have said all season long that CF is the most underrated team in the state.

True...and I said all season that the polls n stuff are just that. Sometimes it can hurt a team. It gives the fans a thrill to read their team is number 1 and stuff, but you can't take that to the bank. It is probably better to be number 8 or 10. Obviously Cape Fear is making believers. Braggin rights or facts... which one is best to work with. Bragging is negative.

Polls can mislead you completely. The game is played not talked about. Cape Fear don't talk, they walk the walk Dude.

They've really done that with class this year. You can't say enough about that qb. I don't know alot about these qb ratings and stuff.According to newspapers he's not that great. I disagree with that philosophy too... he's the real deal.Best in state imo. Put all the elements in a bottle n shake em up.. he has everything you could want.

I think HS football is always better when Fayetteville is in the mix. To much football talent there to not have 3-4 really good teams every year. I hope CF can come out and play as well as they did against SC. They will have their hands full against a great team who has been there before. Good luck to the Colts!

It'll be a classic. Dudley will have to throw some. Cape fear can really mix it up. Run or pass ... stop run ...we didn't see their pass defense until Scotland got desperate... They handled it.Dudley been here before, so that's the 1 point I'm given em.

Inconsistent Coaching not having your team ready to play.

They were over ready, overconfident and the plan they've use for past to years was nailed shut...It was bound to happen.
