Kinston has been pretty good the past few seasons. Just as good as SWO has been, so I don't understand why you think ya'll will "smoke check" them. Remember Kinston didn't get scored on in the Spring until the last game of the season ijs I wouldn't overlook any team with that many athletes.

Goldsboro got plenty of athletes too!!! Southwest will win the conference this year!!! After Jacksonville and JH-Rose games we will be ready for anyone in the conference.
Honestly I believe we have a chance in both games. I believe we can win one of those 2 if not both depends on how bad the kids want it. Charlie got something he haven’t been having some Dawgs!!! Defense is solid pads will be popping

Yes, Goldsboro always has athletes but sometimes their coaches make some questionable calls that loses them 1-2 games a year they should win.
Clinton opens with Goldsboro.
I agree if Goldsboro had a good coach they would be contender. That could be said about a lot of programs. Ijs
Yeah, but Goldsboro hasn't been winning like Kinston has. And those some pretty strong words saying that SWO is going to win the conference before any pads have been popped. East Duplin had a pretty good team in the Spring also, swo might finish 3rd at best.
We don't have a clue where anyone will finish in the conference at this point, now we hope that our teams will be great, but nothing is "for sure!" Ijs
True but knowing about 9 kids on the team since Rec football. 3 Seniors rest Juniors and Sophomores. I know Swo got some kids that will thump. I know they will be faster on both sides of the ball. I also know the kids been putting in the work. They have over a dozen kids workout daily outside of the school workouts. I can’t speak on how other programs been preparing. I just know Coach Dempsey got some Dawgs. Physical play type of kids this year. Will it be a cakewalk ‘no’ but big improvements!!! Football is a game of your mindset. You can have athletes all over the field & Big lineman across the board. That don’t mean you have a championship team. I know Swo got some players with a dawg type mindset. It’s going to be infectious in the locker room!

100-105 kids. Larger turnout than some 4A schools. When you win, and it’s all the craze to be on the football team, they come in droves.
When I was in High School at Clinton it felt like everyone played football. There were actually like “strings”. When you used to tell a joke about the 4th string QB and 3rd team punter just because you didn’t cut kids, but had to find a place for them.
Nowadays your lucky if can find a kicker that doesn’t play soccer M-TH.

Times have changed for sure. Football participation was trending down and COVID pushed it down even more .

we (tarboro) have around 27 for each.
I’ve heard another reputable 2a program, not a team that’s won some championships, but a team that usually makes decent runs, only has 30 total.
As far as swo goes, maybe you guys can get back on track. I’ve spent some time with Dlee in the past, and know how much passion you all have for the stallions.
Dlee is definitely missed around here he was a solid guy.
I’ve heard a couple of Sampson Co. schools may not even have enough to play. I hear Union (1A) only had 8 kids show up first day.
There summer basketball only had 2. Crazy. What the heck is going on.
I guess with Union not having a winning team in years in either sport, coupled with this instant gratification society we live in has contributed to their woes.
Insane. Someone told me they felt some of ours was covid related, and some parents were hesitant about letting their children play
Ironically though, they will be the same parents celebrating a large gathering birthday party at the local outback where Masks are only required upon entry and then when you sit down it’s time to take em off and eat, but playing football is much worse. “Eye roll”
Union been going down hill for a couple years now. Alot of its demographics have changed out that way. Covid probably isnt helping. If Union doesn't have anyone out for Soccer then ill be surprised. Union use to be pretty good in basketball and Football when Dr. John Ward was single winging people to death.
Go to school all day, but wont let them play football. This is insane
