SW Edgecombe vs Washington

Sorry bro. I didn't realize that you created this thread about SWE and Washington until after I created my own. Wasn't trying to take traffic away from yours.

27-13 SWE. Conference championship on the line tomorrow night!
good prediction. I predicted 28-13. I don't think our offense will have trouble moving the ball, and I think Washington will use slow offense as defense.

I'd like to think that we will surprise them with our passing game, but I'm sure Cobb jr will stick to their bread and butter and run it down their throats all night. The way our defense has been playing, a slow offense will have to be flawless to put a decent drive together.

We will definitely pass the ball more than what is the norm at SouthWest. Cobb Jr is proving to be an excellent coach when it comes to adjusting and learning, and in his third year as a head coach, I think he realizes that you can't run the ball every single play and win a championship. I think that loss to Northeastern last year made taught him that. They shut our rushing down and we had nothing else to offer. Now, getting into conference play and tougher competition, he is aware that from here on out, there will be teams in front of us that are capable of stacking the box. Last week's game at North Pitt was a great time to expand the passing game against live competition, because lets face it....they will probably end up being the last place EPC team. We know of Washington. Beddingfield played a Big East 3A nonconference schedule for the most part, and even though they came out 2-4, all but one loss was within a touchdown. So they will be tough. North Johnston is much improved. Farmville Central has lost some, but is still not a last place team. And then there is us. So North Pitt? Ehhh. I do know one thing...that play action with the tight end running a fly route is ALWAYS open. It's just a matter of connecting the pass. I bet it scores for us tonight.

If I had to pick the placements of the conference this year - SWE, Washington, FC, Beddingfield, NP in that order for the championship. That said the FC vs Beddingfield game could go either way in my book, but Id take FC in a close one even though Beddingfield has had the arguably tougher schedule. Cobb Jr has always been one to want to pass more. Funny you should say that - "I think he realizes that you can't run the ball every single play and win a championship". He said those exact words to me in the past when he was a JV coach around 08'. Not undermining his father of course, but just his opinion. Granted, we have come very close in years past to proving him wrong - but the unlucky play here and there has kept us away from a college stadium a few times now. SWE has been very capable of passing the ball in years past, the plays were just rarely called in live play. Sure, any air attack we have seen in the past 8--10 years from SWE has been mostly dropped or overthrown, but what do you expect when you throw less than 3 times a game on average? It most likely wont happen, but it would be great to see SWE come out opening drive tonight in a spread offense whether they throw it or not. Washington would be scratching their heads and wondering if we traded playbooks with Beddingfield! Haha
