SW Edgecombe 42 Whiteville 28

Whiteville at 20. Ever time there is a big hit, they call personal foul. Smh. Can't give them a good ol' Pinetops welcome.

Jumping on them early was definitely the key, and had them playing catch-up all game, which throws your plans out the window. At one time, after being up 21-0, the score became 28-21 which mean they outscored us 28-7 at one point. In fact, after the 21-0 lead, they outscored us 28-21 the rest of the way. Moss was definitely their offense, and I think we played him well. I don't believe he's been hit and bottled up like that. On offense, it was business as usual for SWE. Big Jones gave body shots with pile moving runs up the middle, while Mabry and Co provided big blows with speed to the outside. Scoring 42 points on a defense that was giving up only 9ppg is impressive. I liked our resolve and ability to take the game back when the momentum was clearly on the Whiteville side. I'm proud of the fellas for defeating a darn good team.

We didn't play our best, but those damn refs where horrible. Blatant holding right in front of them on a sweep, nothing. The fake punt, the up back was walking towards the line of scrimmage, nothing. Missed pass interference 3 or 4 times, for both squads. The missed extra point, called the man down, more bs. SW recovers a fumble, ball given back to Whiteville. The horse collar call on Whiteville appeared like a jersey grab from my view. They let tied up backs, with forward progress stopped, continue way too long, it's a wonder someone didn't get hurt. Whiteville isn't really that good, just only one player to worry about, buts he's damn good, not an accurate passer though. I'll give them lots of credit for their comeback, alot of teams would quit being down that much, early and on the road. SW has to clean up some things this week and get more focused. Looks like we a couple guys banged up a little.

SWE let the oline and run game take over with 4min. Left. Game was still in doubt but SWE went to their strength. Kept Moss off the field. Good job by the players and coaches of SWE. This game lived up to the billing. Moss is still a hell of a player. Whiteville showed alot of heart after being down early.

There were definitely missed P.I. calls. I think we even got away with one on offense. And the horse collar was just a jersey grab and throw. And that fumble recovery given to whiteville? Tragic. And I thought the refs were trying to give them one more TD on their final drive. Yes, the refs did give a hard time to both teams.

I don't think SWE can stop Moss and Davis all night. So I like the Pack in a close one. Pack. 30--18.
I rolled my eyes when you thought we would only score 18. I should have rolled my eyes when you said yall would score 30.
Jk

Anybody have any stats for Whiteville? I'd love to know how many yards Moss and Davis got. Maxpreps didn't have any stats for Whiteville.

What a fun game. I will definitely be paying attention to Whiteville from now on.
What year is Moss?
Congfats SWE on a well played game. You are the real deal.Wish we had #11.If we would had him we might would have won.Your O line was just to big and strong for us.The defense was also very good also.Non't know much about NE but i don't think Clinton want's none of you.I would love for you to win state.Don't mind losing to a state champion.Good luck and LOL.

I looked too. Do you know why we got called for unsportsmanlike conduct on that big, decleating hit on Moss late in the game? Did our player taunt or step over him on the ground or something? I could see some chatter going down throughout the second half mostly.

Yeah, He stood over him and taunted him a bit. It was unnecessary especially at that point in the game as Moss is just trying to leave the field with some dignity and play till the end. I saw the coach give him a talking to about it when he got to the sidelines hopefully the correct message was relayed and a lesson was learned.

Oh ok, understand that, I could tell things were getting chippy. One of there players lost his cool and was gonna go after one of our guys right before we punched in that last score, but a teammate grabbed him. I also noticed the DB that was gaurding KP was talking a little chatter too. I noticed KP look back at him a couple times going back to the huddle. None the less, that was a sweet hit put on Moss. He spun away from someone and got the boom lowered on him. I missed the taunting because I was yelling and giving high fives to everybody around me. MoDean done showed up right there.

Keishon was getting livid in the second half because of the uncalled pass interferences. His arms were being held down a few times. The possession before Whiteville's bad punt, when we punted from their 40, KP came off the field fussing and cussing and screaming that he's being held, which is why he couldn't catch the 3rd down pass, forcing us to punt. That's why, when our next possession started at their 10, we went straight to him for the TD pass. IMO, that was a "we got your back bro" play. Yeah, it was some stuff going on. But if we were doing some talking, I'm OK with that to an extent. It's ok to have a little swag. Little mean streak. A little "who do you think you are" mentality. It's football, not tea time. I don't think talking or even taunting should be flagged. I hate the whole "play nice" mentality. But at the same time, I understand that sportsmanship calls are in place to curb things from escalating to fights and things, which I DO NOT agree with. I dont mind being a sore winner. If you're beating us, you've earned the right to chirp. But I hate a sore loser, though. Should have been better. If Northeastern comes to Pinetops and beats the brakes off of us, then talk!

I saw that hold. Grabbed his arm.

I agree with everything you said. Only thing is at that point in the game the game was already decided. I have no problem with kids being emotional in the moment when the game is on the line but when Moss is going for a last ditch effort SWE up by 2 TDs I felt the flag was warranted.

Most of that stuff happened before that last touchdown when it was still uncertain how the SWE drive was going to go. After that last TD by #6 all that stuff should have been laid to rest with that TD and it was, until Porter hit Moss. He was a little frustrated still. They are all kids and sometimes you have to remember that and have them learn from it.

People were leaving, but the game wasn't over at that point. Less than 30 seconds, yeah, but score on a big play, then get the onside kick, and who knows? They showed the ability that they can do both. Still had to play hard until we were sure the game was over.

I get that and I stayed to the final second because of the scenario you just described. With around 15 seconds left when that hit happened it was highly unlikely. I felt it was the right call and it didn't determine the outcome. Both players walked away healthy and hopefully lessons were learned. The coach was in Porter's ear after that,so I assume the adults on the sidelines felt the same way. I did see Jones limp off with some help on the previous drive and he didnt return. Hopefully he is ok and ready to go next week.

If we don't have Jones healthy, then our chances decrease tremendously.

I didn't realize it was Porter that hit him.
It was Porter, I can only speculate but had it been anyone other than Porter it probably doesnt get called. I'm sure he was reminded by the officials to "cool it" before that play and the official did it as a last resort. I felt the officials let the kids play for the most part. It certainly wasnt the worse officiated game I have seen this year, not even close. I think this has been the worst year I have seen in officiating in all my years of watching high school football though.
