Statesville @ Mitchell

Hilly as in, there are plenty of hills. Iredell backs up to the Brushy Mountains.

Statesville is actually a pretty rough place. It's sad. Lots of low income housing areas. Real run down in parts. The downtown area is really nice.

But once you get on the south side of town it gets bad rough. Lots of gang violence. I guess you can say it's alot like Salisbury and Hickory. It's really sad. So I'm not surprised in any unsportsmanlike actions.

Well if you love those kids and provide confidence and discipline those kids with rough backgrounds will play their hearts out. Takes right kinda coach.

Total yards was Mitchell 301 to Statesville 147 and Mitchell 19 first downs to Statesville's 6 including only one first down in the 2nd half. Just blown away by Mitchell's performance considering having an entire brand new line and a sophomore qb that had not played a full game since middle school, not to mention 7 of these kids including the qb and receivers and tight end have played two playoff basketball games this week including last night and will play again tomorrow, I have no idea how they have any legs left. Prayers go out to Ty Pitman all over Mitchell county and beyond as he suffered a major leg injury which will more than likely end his high school sports career, you hate to see it for such a great kid and it will be a huge blow for this football team as well as Mitchell's chances in the third round playoff basketball game tomorrow. But kids stepped up all night after Pitman's injury as well as after starting lineman Chandler Horney went out after the first drive of the game, just a great team effort.

Statesville is a has been. It was a great area in the 70s and 80s with a Shopping Mall, movie theater, and places to eat. When industries shut down people leave. The City don't want it to expand.. And most of the economic growth is on the Southern end of Iredell.

Pretty much. Have spent a lot of time in Statesville but it’s demise is similar to the other small cities in North Carolina. Hickory is clinging on for dear life.

At some point the growth of Charlotte will likely consume Statesville but that's probably 10-20 years down the road if I had to guess.

I think Iredell just got a bond approved the build another high school in the Troutman area. As soon as they open it, I'm sure they'll have to look at building another one.

statesville only has 3xs the kids we got lol. So if their line is young we’re sorry about the fact that they can’t get kids out. We also apologize for the slobber knocking and the way the slobber knocking was delivered. 😉
Statesville line is young? Mitchell starts 2 sophomores and 2 juniors. Seems pretty young as well.
Go Mountaineers

Yes Statesville Young - They lost a ton of their talent from last year - That had a ton of Sophomores on there D line and they do have 3 SR on O line but other then that they young in other spots on o line and they had a lot players in new spots and all so This year team is totally different from last year 2nd round team who lost to Kings mtn

You pretty much described Mitchell too. The Mountaineers graduated 16 seniors, from a team that went to the wire in the 4th round. We started a new qb, new rb's, a new we, 4 new linemen, and a new kicking specialist. Basically started from scratch.

This Statesville team will be no where close to last year team. They need to find a qb and playmaker at the skill position and alot more. Statesville might win 2 or 3 games this year. If their lucky. It might take Statesville 2 or 3 years to build back up.

I don't know why. They need to be building a new High School in the Mooresville area to split South Iredell, Mooresville, and Lake Norman. The number will keep getting bigger each year.

I agree. For The Coach at Statesville he is a very nice mild mannered man, most player, and parents, supporters like him. Not saying he is a bad coach. I am not sure if his personality is a match for the program.

This school will take kids from South and Lake Norman. Population in Troutman is about to boom. They can't do anything for Mooresville unless Mooresville wants to since they are a city school system.

Bill Clinton and NAFTA - destroyed all these great manufacturing and mill towns that were thriving so much and were just great places to live in NC and our country

We went from being a good sized 2a school in the late 80-90s to having 500 kids. Mitchell county lost 2000 jobs due to nafta. So we could help those other countries 🤷. I literally watched families destroyed because they did that. They offered to send the workers to community college. Can you imagine being 55 and told you lost your manufacturing job but you can go back to school? From that point on our community has suffered. I’m pretty sure the quality of life in Mexico is still the same too. Not that any of the people that lost their jobs and homes should have been the sacrifice for Mexican or Central America “catching up”. So if you wonder why the basket of deplorables are nationalist there u go.

I agree with this but it was actually Bush Sr that negotiated it and signed the agreement. Bush tried to fast track it and get it done before the end of his term but ran out of time, ultimately Clinton (who also supported it) ended up ratifying it and signed it into law. NAFTA had plenty of bipartisan support, both parties were complicit in what was a travesty for a lot of rural and blue collar Americans.

the very people we voted for continued to milk us dry with no regard to the working persons of USA. That’s why trump was popular with the workers. He spoke to the injustices done to manufacturing. If our politicians weren’t so concerned about giving money, jobs resources to other countries we’d have a much better USA
