Starmount @ MA Round 2 2024

While I don’t have any idea how Simmons picks his winners and losers I did notice this at the bottom of his choices from last week’s playoffs:
Correct pick and within 8 points or less 22/65 33.8%…
True, but also 7/8 on 1A West last week. I’m not much of a betting man, but getting within 8 pts isn’t easy right?

But, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way, the second round of 1A is fairly easy to get correct ain’t it?
That means the rest of the classifications he was 15/58 right?

Round 1: 111 right, 16 wrong - 87% right; 47% right and within 8 pts. (60/127)
Round 2: 53 right, 12 wrong - 82% right; 34% right and within 8 pts. (22/65)

Picking winners is one thing. Picking spread is another. For example: If he says a team wins by 49 and it is 40, he missed it. If you look, his record is pretty good, and picking spread is very hard in the early rounds.

I don’t think this game is close this time around. I think Mount Airy wins by 3 TD’s. I think Starmount had their chance the first time around, but if they couldn’t run against MA then, I don’t know how they are going to now.

They got a new running back off jv team.

Congratulations to Mt Airy on earning a hard fought win. I will be pulling for you the rest of the way.

As far as the game is concerned I thought that the penalty for running into the punter before the half really changed the game. I think there's a good chance that was a 14 point swing for Mt Airy. Starmount had the momentum and may have scored before the half ended or at least ran out the clock so that the Bears couldn't score. Plays like that are what separates champions from really good teams.

Discipline has been an issue all year for Starmount. The previous game they had 18 penalties. This was an issue that was never fixed. You can't allow kids to continue having unsportsmanlike penalties and foolish things and not set them on the bench. It finally bit them in the butt. As great as Pardue has been as defensive coach this year, the Rams needed him to be a Head Coach and end this issue long before this game. Hopefully this will be another lesson learned for next year.

Congratulations to the Rams on a great season

Well, it was actually roughing the snapper which, according to Starmount fans isn't even a real rule that the referees just made up on the spot 🙄🙄🙄

MA secondary is vulnerable if the QB has time. The Rams had 3 passing touchdown and a fourth possible TD was overthrown but TE was wide open.
That pass to the TE was a heartbreaker. No one close to him. It looked like he just stopped running.

2 games in a row, actually 3(versus Mt Airy) if you go back to last year where mistakes on special teams by the Rams cost them dearly but none more than the punt last night. The same player(who only plays on special teams) was penalized in the South Stanly game for a late hit out of bounds or unsportsmanlike. They just get a talking to and go right back in the game. Unreal

I had thought this game was officiated very well. Look at this on the long touchdown run for Martin.

Come on really?????? Do you know how much is missed on both sides in a game. Lets talk about starmount kid trying to injure our qb when he was long snapper on the punt. That kid tried to hurt him period. Ik for a fact it upset the starmount fans and coaches as well that he did it. Wasn't going to bring it up but you post something stupid like this smh. Bears won fair and sqaure move on those refs were very good!!!!!

I agree that a lot is missed in these games. I had agreed with you in an earlier post that the game was officiated very well. I hadn't thought once about the officiating until I seen this picture. Actually you aren't the first one that brought up the penalty on the punt, I did in my first post after the game. I along with everyone that I know agree it was a terrible play and changed the game. The difference is the penalty on the punt was called and changed the game in Mt Airy's favor. The missed call above resulted in a touchdown for Mt Airy.

It doesn't matter, doesn't change anything. Just frustrating how officials can dictate tight games. Sadly it seems more often than not that they determine the outcome in many instances.

So what are you complaining about. Hands to the face mask, stiff arm or whatever you want to call it. The kid was a beast especially in 4th qrtr.i thought the refs were very good compared to a lot of games this year
I thought they were very good as well. I had no complaints whatsoever until I saw that pic.

Yes the illegal hands to the face by what looks to be a receiver which enabled the TD. Not sure if this was the long run before the half or the one after. Yes Martin ran tough, love to watch him run.

Im sure Starmount had a hold or hand to the face that wasn't called when they score a TD.....IT HAPPENS AND COULD HAPPENED IN THE ma GAME WHO KNOWS! No im not mad texting in caps just dont want to go back and change lol.

I Could care less about changing the game the worst part was he intentionally tried to hurt the MA qb/long snapper thats whats important in my statement!
